¹Now this is the history of the generations of the sons of Noah and of Shem, Ham, and Japheth. Sons were born to them after the flood.

² The sons of Japheth were: Gomer, Magog, Madai, Javan, Tubal, Meshech, and Tiras.

KJVThe sons^H1121 of Japheth^H3315; Gomer^H1586, and Magog^H4031, and Madai^H4074, and Javan^H3120, and Tubal^H8422, and Meshech^H4902, and Tiras^H8494.

³ The sons of Gomer were: Ashkenaz, Riphath, and Togarmah.

KJVAnd the sons^H1121 of Gomer^H1586; Ashkenaz^H813, and Riphath^H7384, and Togarmah^H8425.

⁴ The sons of Javan were: Elishah, Tarshish, Kittim, and Dodanim.

KJVAnd the sons^H1121 of Javan^H3120; Elishah^H473, and Tarshish^H8659, Kittim^H3794, and Dodanim^H1721.

⁵ Of these were the islands of the nations divided in their lands, everyone after his language, after their families, in their nations.

KJVBy these were the isles^H339 of the Gentiles^H1471 divided in^H6504^(H8738) their lands^H776; every one^H376 after his tongue^H3956, after their families^H4940, in their nations^H1471.

⁶ The sons of Ham were: Cush, Mizraim, Put, and Canaan.

KJVAnd the sons^H1121 of Ham^H2526; Cush^H3568, and Mizraim^H4714, and Phut^H6316, and Canaan^H3667.

⁷ The sons of Cush were: Seba, Havilah, Sabtah, Raamah, and Sabteca. The sons of Raamah were: Sheba and Dedan.

KJVAnd the sons^H1121 of Cush^H3568; Seba^H5434, and Havilah^H2341, and Sabtah^H5454, and Raamah^H7484, and Sabtecha^H5455: and the sons^H1121 of Raamah^H7484; Sheba^H7614, and Dedan^H1719.

⁸ Cush became the father of Nimrod. He began to be a mighty one on the earth.

KJVAnd Cush^H3568 begat^H3205^(H8804) Nimrod^H5248: he began^H2490^(H8689) to be^H1961^(H8800) a mighty one^H1368 in the earth^H776.

⁹ He was a mighty hunter before Yahweh. Therefore it is said, “like Nimrod, a mighty hunter before Yahweh”.

¹⁰ The beginning of his kingdom was Babel, Erech, Accad, and Calneh, in the land of Shinar.

¹¹ Out of that land he went into Assyria, and built Nineveh, Rehoboth Ir, Calah,

KJVOut of that land^H776 went forth^H3318^(H8804) Asshur^H804, and builded^H1129^(H8799) Nineveh^H5210, and the city^H5892 Rehoboth^H7344, and Calah^H3625,

¹² and Resen between Nineveh and the great city Calah.

¹³ Mizraim became the father of Ludim, Anamim, Lehabim, Naphtuhim,

KJVAnd Mizraim^H4714 begat^H3205^(H8804) Ludim^H3866, and Anamim^H6047, and Lehabim^H3853, and Naphtuhim^H5320,

¹⁴ Pathrusim, Casluhim (which the Philistines descended from), and Caphtorim.

KJVAnd Pathrusim^H6625, and Casluhim^H3695,(out of whom came^H3318^(H8804) Philistim^H6430,) and Caphtorim^H3732.

¹⁵ Canaan became the father of Sidon (his firstborn), Heth,

KJVAnd Canaan^H3667 begat^H3205^(H8804) Sidon^H6721 his firstborn^H1060, and Heth^H2845,

¹⁶ the Jebusites, the Amorites, the Girgashites,

KJVAnd the Jebusite^H2983, and the Amorite^H567, and the Girgasite^H1622,

¹⁷ the Hivites, the Arkites, the Sinites,

KJVAnd the Hivite^H2340, and the Arkite^H6208, and the Sinite^H5513,

¹⁸ the Arvadites, the Zemarites, and the Hamathites. Afterward the families of the Canaanites were spread abroad.

KJVAnd the Arvadite^H721, and the Zemarite^H6786, and the Hamathite^H2577: and afterward^H310 were the families^H4940 of the Canaanites^H3669 spread abroad^H6327^(H8738).

¹⁹ The border of the Canaanites was from Sidon—as you go toward Gerar—to Gaza—as you go toward Sodom, Gomorrah, Admah, and Zeboiim—to Lasha.

KJVAnd the border^H1366 of the Canaanites^H3669 was from Sidon^H6721, as thou comest^H935^(H8800) to Gerar^H1642, unto Gaza^H5804; as thou goest^H935^(H8800), unto Sodom^H5467, and Gomorrah^H6017, and Admah^H126, and Zeboim^H6636, even unto Lasha^H3962.

²⁰ These are the sons of Ham, after their families, according to their languages, in their lands and their nations.

²¹ Children were also born to Shem (the elder brother of Japheth), the father of all the children of Eber.

KJVUnto Shem^H8035 also, the father^H1 of all the children^H1121 of Eber^H5677, the brother^H251 of Japheth^H3315 the elder^H1419, even to him were children born^H3205^(H8795).

²² The sons of Shem were: Elam, Asshur, Arpachshad, Lud, and Aram.

KJVThe children^H1121 of Shem^H8035; Elam^H5867, and Asshur^H804, and Arphaxad^H775, and Lud^H3865, and Aram^H758.

²³ The sons of Aram were: Uz, Hul, Gether, and Mash.

KJVAnd the children^H1121 of Aram^H758; Uz^H5780, and Hul^H2343, and Gether^H1666, and Mash^H4851.

²⁴ Arpachshad became the father of Shelah. Shelah became the father of Eber.

KJVAnd Arphaxad^H775 begat^H3205^(H8804) Salah^H7974; and Salah^H7974 begat^H3205^(H8804) Eber^H5677.

²⁵ To Eber were born two sons. The name of the one was Peleg, for in his days the earth was divided. His brother’s name was Joktan.

KJVAnd unto Eber^H5677 were born^H3205^(H8795) two^H8147 sons^H1121: the name^H8034 of one^H259 was Peleg^H6389; for in his days^H3117 was the earth^H776 divided^H6385^(H8738); and his brother's^H251 name^H8034 was Joktan^H3355.

²⁶ Joktan became the father of Almodad, Sheleph, Hazarmaveth, Jerah,

KJVAnd Joktan^H3355 begat^H3205^(H8804) Almodad^H486, and Sheleph^H8026, and Hazarmaveth^H2700, and Jerah^H3392,

²⁷ Hadoram, Uzal, Diklah,

KJVAnd Hadoram^H1913, and Uzal^H187, and Diklah^H1853,

²⁸ Obal, Abimael, Sheba,

KJVAnd Obal^H5745, and Abimael^H39, and Sheba^H7614,

²⁹ Ophir, Havilah, and Jobab. All these were the sons of Joktan.

KJVAnd Ophir^H211, and Havilah^H2341, and Jobab^H3103: all these were the sons^H1121 of Joktan^H3355.

³⁰ Their dwelling extended from Mesha, as you go toward Sephar, the mountain of the east.

KJVAnd their dwelling^H4186 was from Mesha^H4852, as thou goest^H935^(H8800) unto Sephar^H5611 a mount^H2022 of the east^H6924.

³¹ These are the sons of Shem, by their families, according to their languages, lands, and nations.

KJVThese are the sons^H1121 of Shem^H8035, after their families^H4940, after their tongues^H3956, in their lands^H776, after their nations^H1471.

³² These are the families of the sons of Noah, by their generations, according to their nations. The nations divided from these on the earth after the flood.

KJVThese are the families^H4940 of the sons^H1121 of Noah^H5146, after their generations^H8435, in their nations^H1471: and by these were the nations^H1471 divided^H6504^(H8738) in the earth^H776 after^H310 the flood^H3999.

¹God blessed Noah and his sons, and said to them, “Be fruitful, multiply, and replenish the earth.

KJVAnd God^H430 blessed^H1288^(H8762) Noah^H5146 and his sons^H1121, and said^H559^(H8799) unto them, Be fruitful^H6509^(H8798), and multiply^H7235^(H8798), and replenish^H4390^(H8798) the earth^H776.

² The fear of you and the dread of you will be on every animal of the earth, and on every bird of the sky. Everything that moves along the ground, and all the fish of the sea, are delivered into your hand.

KJVAnd the fear of you^H4172 and the dread of you^H2844 shall be upon every beast^H2416 of the earth^H776, and upon every fowl^H5775 of the air^H8064, upon all that moveth^H7430^(H8799) upon the earth^H127, and upon all the fishes^H1709 of the sea^H3220; into your hand^H3027 are they delivered^H5414^(H8738).

³ Every moving thing that lives will be food for you. As I gave you the green herb, I have given everything to you.

KJVEvery moving thing^H7431 that liveth^H2416 shall be meat^H402 for you; even as the green^H3418 herb^H6212 have I given^H5414^(H8804) you all things.

⁴ But flesh with its life, that is, its blood, you shall not eat.

KJVBut^H389 flesh^H1320 with the life^H5315 thereof, which is the blood^H1818 thereof, shall ye not eat^H398^(H8799).

⁵ I will surely require accounting for your life’s blood. At the hand of every animal I will require it. At the hand of man, even at the hand of every man’s brother, I will require the life of man.

KJVAnd surely^H389 your blood^H1818 of your lives^H5315 will I require^H1875^(H8799); at the hand^H3027 of every beast^H2416 will I require it^H1875^(H8799), and at the hand^H3027 of man^H120; at the hand^H3027 of every man's^H376 brother^H251 will I require^H1875^(H8799) the life^H5315 of man^H120.

⁶ Whoever sheds man’s blood, his blood will be shed by man, for God made man in his own image.

KJVWhoso sheddeth^H8210^(H8802) man's^H120 blood^H1818, by man^H120 shall his blood^H1818 be shed^H8210^(H8735): for in the image^H6754 of God^H430 made^H6213^(H8804) he man^H120.

⁷ Be fruitful and multiply. Increase abundantly on the earth, and multiply in it.”

KJVAnd you, be ye fruitful^H6509^(H8798), and multiply^H7235^(H8798); bring forth abundantly^H8317^(H8798) in the earth^H776, and multiply^H7235^(H8798) therein.

⁸ God spoke to Noah and to his sons with him, saying,

KJVAnd God^H430 spake^H559^(H8799) unto Noah^H5146, and to his sons^H1121 with him, saying^H559^(H8800),

⁹ “As for me, behold, I establish my covenant with you, and with your offspring after you,

KJVAnd I, behold, I establish^H6965^(H8688) my covenant^H1285 with you, and with your seed^H2233 after you^H310;

¹⁰ and with every living creature that is with you: the birds, the livestock, and every animal of the earth with you, of all that go out of the ship, even every animal of the earth.

KJVAnd with every living^H2416 creature^H5315 that is with you, of the fowl^H5775, of the cattle^H929, and of every beast^H2416 of the earth^H776 with you; from all that go out^H3318^(H8802) of the ark^H8392, to every beast^H2416 of the earth^H776.

¹¹ I will establish my covenant with you: All flesh will not be cut off any more by the waters of the flood. There will never again be a flood to destroy the earth.”

KJVAnd I will establish^H6965^(H8689) my covenant^H1285 with you; neither shall all flesh^H1320 be cut off^H3772^(H8735) any more by the waters^H4325 of a flood^H3999; neither shall there any more be a flood^H3999 to destroy^H7843^(H8763) the earth^H776.

¹² God said, “This is the token of the covenant which I make between me and you and every living creature that is with you, for perpetual generations:

KJVAnd God^H430 said^H559^(H8799), This is the token^H226 of the covenant^H1285 which I^H589 make^H5414^(H8802) between me and you and every living^H2416 creature^H5315 that is with you, for perpetual^H5769 generations^H1755:

¹³ I set my rainbow in the cloud, and it will be a sign of a covenant between me and the earth.

KJVI do set^H5414^(H8804) my bow^H7198 in the cloud^H6051, and it shall be for a token^H226 of a covenant^H1285 between me and the earth^H776.

¹⁴ When I bring a cloud over the earth, that the rainbow will be seen in the cloud,

KJVAnd it shall come to pass, when I bring^H6049^(H8763) a cloud^H6051 over the earth^H776, that the bow^H7198 shall be seen^H7200^(H8738) in the cloud^H6051:

¹⁵ I will remember my covenant, which is between me and you and every living creature of all flesh, and the waters will no more become a flood to destroy all flesh.

KJVAnd I will remember^H2142^(H8804) my covenant^H1285, which is between me and you and every living^H2416 creature^H5315 of all flesh^H1320; and the waters^H4325 shall no more^H5750 become a flood^H3999 to destroy^H7843^(H8763) all flesh^H1320.

¹⁶ The rainbow will be in the cloud. I will look at it, that I may remember the everlasting covenant between God and every living creature of all flesh that is on the earth.”

KJVAnd the bow^H7198 shall be in the cloud^H6051; and I will look upon it^H7200^(H8804), that I may remember^H2142^(H8800) the everlasting^H5769 covenant^H1285 between^H996 God^H430 and^H996 every living^H2416 creature^H5315 of all flesh^H1320 that is upon the earth^H776.

¹⁷ God said to Noah, “This is the token of the covenant which I have established between me and all flesh that is on the earth.”

KJVAnd God^H430 said^H559^(H8799) unto Noah^H5146, This is the token^H226 of the covenant^H1285, which I have established^H6965^(H8689) between me and all flesh^H1320 that is upon the earth^H776.

¹⁸ The sons of Noah who went out from the ship were Shem, Ham, and Japheth. Ham is the father of Canaan.

KJVAnd the sons^H1121 of Noah^H5146, that went forth^H3318^(H8802) of the ark^H8392, were Shem^H8035, and Ham^H2526, and Japheth^H3315: and Ham^H2526^H1931 is the father^H1 of Canaan^H3667.

¹⁹ These three were the sons of Noah, and from these the whole earth was populated.

KJVThese are the three^H7969 sons^H1121 of Noah^H5146: and of them was the whole earth^H776 overspread^H5310^(H8804).

²⁰ Noah began to be a farmer, and planted a vineyard.

KJVAnd Noah^H5146 began^H2490^(H8686) to be an husbandman^H376^H127, and he planted^H5193^(H8799) a vineyard^H3754:

²¹ He drank of the wine and got drunk. He was uncovered within his tent.

KJVAnd he drank^H8354^(H8799) of the wine^H3196, and was drunken^H7937^(H8799); and he was uncovered^H1540^(H8691) within^H8432 his tent^H168.

²² Ham, the father of Canaan, saw the nakedness of his father, and told his two brothers outside.

KJVAnd Ham^H2526, the father^H1 of Canaan^H3667, saw^H7200^(H8799) the nakedness^H6172 of his father^H1, and told^H5046^(H8686) his two^H8147 brethren^H251 without^H2351.

²³ Shem and Japheth took a garment, and laid it on both their shoulders, went in backwards, and covered the nakedness of their father. Their faces were backwards, and they didn’t see their father’s nakedness.

²⁴ Noah awoke from his wine, and knew what his youngest son had done to him.

KJVAnd Noah^H5146 awoke^H3364^(H8799) from his wine^H3196, and knew^H3045^(H8799) what his younger^H6996 son^H1121 had done^H6213^(H8804) unto him.

²⁵ He said, “Canaan is cursed. He will be a servant of servants to his brothers.”

KJVAnd he said^H559^(H8799), Cursed^H779^(H8803) be Canaan^H3667; a servant^H5650 of servants^H5650 shall he be unto his brethren^H251.

²⁶ He said, “Blessed be Yahweh, the God of Shem. Let Canaan be his servant.

KJVAnd he said^H559^(H8799), Blessed^H1288^(H8803) be the LORD^H3068 God^H430 of Shem^H8035; and Canaan^H3667 shall be^H1961^(H8799) his servant^H5650.

²⁷ May God enlarge Japheth. Let him dwell in the tents of Shem. Let Canaan be his servant.”

KJVGod^H430 shall enlarge^H6601^(H8686) Japheth^H3315, and he shall dwell^H7931^(H8799) in the tents^H168 of Shem^H8035; and Canaan^H3667 shall be his servant^H5650.

²⁸ Noah lived three hundred fifty years after the flood.

KJVAnd Noah^H5146 lived^H2421^(H8799) after^H310 the flood^H3999 three^H7969 hundred^H3967^H8141 and fifty^H2572 years^H8141.

²⁹ All the days of Noah were nine hundred fifty years, and then he died.

KJVAnd all the days^H3117 of Noah^H5146 were nine^H8672 hundred^H3967^H8141 and fifty^H2572 years^H8141: and he died^H4191^(H8799).
