1 Chronicles 17
WEB·1 Chronicles 17
1When David was living in his house, David said to Nathan the prophet, “Behold, I live in a cedar house, but the ark of Yahweh’s covenant is in a tent.”
KJVNow it came to pass, as DavidH1732 satH3427(H8804) in his houseH1004, that DavidH1732 saidH559(H8799) to NathanH5416 the prophetH5030, Lo, I dwellH3427(H8802) in an houseH1004 of cedarsH730, but the arkH727 of the covenantH1285 of the LORDH3068 remaineth under curtainsH3407.
2 Nathan said to David, “Do all that is in your heart; for God is with you.”
KJVThen NathanH5416 saidH559(H8799) unto DavidH1732, DoH6213(H8798) all that is in thine heartH3824; for GodH430 is with thee.
3 That same night, the word of God came to Nathan, saying,
KJVAnd it came to pass the same nightH3915, that the wordH1697 of GodH430 came to NathanH5416, sayingH559(H8800),
4 “Go and tell David my servant, ‘Yahweh says, “You shall not build me a house to dwell in;
KJVGoH3212(H8798) and tellH559(H8804) DavidH1732 my servantH5650, Thus saithH559(H8804) the LORDH3068, Thou shalt not buildH1129(H8799) me an houseH1004 to dwell inH3427(H8800):
5 for I have not lived in a house since the day that I brought up Israel to this day, but have gone from tent to tent, and from one tent to another.
KJVFor I have not dwelt inH3427(H8804) an houseH1004 since the dayH3117 that I brought upH5927(H8689) IsraelH3478 unto this dayH3117; but have gone from tentH168 to tentH168, and from one tabernacleH4908 to another.
6 In all places in which I have walked with all Israel, did I speak a word with any of the judges of Israel, whom I commanded to be shepherd of my people, saying, ‘Why have you not built me a house of cedar?’”’
KJVWheresoever I have walkedH1980(H8694) with all IsraelH3478, spakeH1696(H8765) I a wordH1697 to anyH259 of the judgesH8199(H8802) of IsraelH3478, whom I commandedH6680(H8765) to feedH7462(H8800) my peopleH5971, sayingH559(H8800), Why have ye not builtH1129(H8804) me an houseH1004 of cedarsH730?
7 “Now therefore, you shall tell my servant David, ‘Yahweh of Armies says, “I took you from the sheep pen, from following the sheep, to be prince over my people Israel.
KJVNow therefore thus shalt thou sayH559(H8799) unto my servantH5650 DavidH1732, Thus saithH559(H8804) the LORDH3068 of hostsH6635, I tookH3947(H8804) thee from the sheepcoteH5116, even from followingH310 the sheepH6629, that thou shouldest be rulerH5057 over my peopleH5971 IsraelH3478:
8 I have been with you wherever you have gone, and have cut off all your enemies from before you. I will make you a name like the name of the great ones who are on the earth.
KJVAnd I have been with thee whithersoever thou hast walkedH1980(H8804), and have cut offH3772(H8686) all thine enemiesH341(H8802) from beforeH6440 thee, and have madeH6213(H8804) thee a nameH8034 like the nameH8034 of the great menH1419 that are in the earthH776.
9 I will appoint a place for my people Israel, and will plant them, that they may dwell in their own place, and be moved no more. The children of wickedness will not waste them any more, as at the first,
KJVAlso I will ordainH7760(H8804) a placeH4725 for my peopleH5971 IsraelH3478, and will plantH5193(H8804) them, and they shall dwellH7931(H8804) in their place, and shall be movedH7264(H8799) no more; neither shall the childrenH1121 of wickednessH5766 wasteH1086(H8763) them any moreH3254(H8686), as at the beginningH7223,
10 and from the day that I commanded judges to be over my people Israel. I will subdue all your enemies. Moreover I tell you that Yahweh will build you a house.
KJVAnd since the timeH3117 that I commandedH6680(H8765) judgesH8199(H8802) to be over my peopleH5971 IsraelH3478. Moreover I will subdueH3665(H8689) all thine enemiesH341(H8802). Furthermore I tellH5046(H8686) thee that the LORDH3068 will buildH1129(H8799) thee an houseH1004.
11 It will happen, when your days are fulfilled that you must go to be with your fathers, that I will set up your offspring after you, who will be of your sons; and I will establish his kingdom.
KJVAnd it shall come to pass, when thy daysH3117 be expiredH4390(H8804) that thou must goH3212(H8800) to be with thy fathersH1, that I will raise upH6965(H8689) thy seedH2233 afterH310 thee, which shall be of thy sonsH1121; and I will establishH3559(H8689) his kingdomH4438.
12 He will build me a house, and I will establish his throne forever.
KJVHe shall buildH1129(H8799) me an houseH1004, and I will stablishH3559(H8790) his throneH3678 forH5704 everH5769.
13 I will be his father, and he will be my son. I will not take my loving kindness away from him, as I took it from him who was before you;
KJVI will be his fatherH1, and he shall be my sonH1121: and I will not takeH5493 my mercyH2617 awayH5493(H8686) from him, as I tookH5493(H8689) it from him that was beforeH6440 thee:
14 but I will settle him in my house and in my kingdom forever. His throne will be established forever.”’”
KJVBut I will settleH5975(H8689) him in mine houseH1004 and in my kingdomH4438 for everH5769: and his throneH3678 shall be establishedH3559(H8737) forH5704 evermoreH5769.
15 According to all these words, and according to all this vision, so Nathan spoke to David.
KJVAccording to all these wordsH1697, and according to all this visionH2377, so did NathanH5416 speakH1696(H8765) unto DavidH1732.
16 Then David the king went in and sat before Yahweh; and he said, “Who am I, Yahweh God, and what is my house, that you have brought me this far?
KJVAnd DavidH1732 the kingH4428 cameH935(H8799) and satH3427(H8799) beforeH6440 the LORDH3068, and saidH559(H8799), Who am I, O LORDH3068 GodH430, and what is mine houseH1004, that thou hast broughtH935(H8689) me hithertoH1988?
17 This was a small thing in your eyes, O God, but you have spoken of your servant’s house for a great while to come, and have respected me according to the standard of a man of high degree, Yahweh God.
KJVAnd yet this was a small thingH6994(H8799) in thine eyesH5869, O GodH430; for thou hast also spokenH1696(H8762) of thy servant'sH5650 houseH1004 for a great while to comeH7350, and hast regardedH7200(H8804) me according to the estateH8448 of a manH120 of high degreeH4609, O LORDH3068 GodH430.
18 What can David say yet more to you concerning the honor which is done to your servant? For you know your servant.
KJVWhat canH3254 DavidH1732 speak moreH3254(H8686) to thee for the honourH3519 of thy servantH5650? for thou knowestH3045(H8804) thy servantH5650.
19 Yahweh, for your servant’s sake, and according to your own heart, you have done all this greatness, to make known all these great things.
KJVO LORDH3068, for thy servant'sH5650 sake, and according to thine own heartH3820, hast thou doneH6213(H8804) all this greatnessH1420, in making knownH3045(H8687) all these great thingsH1420.
20 Yahweh, there is no one like you, neither is there any God besides you, according to all that we have heard with our ears.
KJVO LORDH3068, there is none like thee, neither is there any GodH430 besideH2108 thee, according to all that we have heardH8085(H8804) with our earsH241.
21 What one nation on the earth is like your people Israel, whom God went to redeem to himself for a people, to make you a name by great and awesome things, in driving out nations from before your people whom you redeemed out of Egypt?
KJVAnd what oneH259 nationH1471 in the earthH776 is like thy peopleH5971 IsraelH3478, whom GodH430 wentH1980(H8804) to redeemH6299(H8800) to be his own peopleH5971, to makeH7760(H8800) thee a nameH8034 of greatnessH1420 and terriblenessH3372(H8737), by driving outH1644(H8763) nationsH1471 from beforeH6440 thy peopleH5971, whom thou hast redeemedH6299(H8804) out of EgyptH4714?
22 For you made your people Israel your own people forever; and you, Yahweh, became their God.
KJVFor thy peopleH5971 IsraelH3478 didst thou makeH5414(H8799) thine own peopleH5971 forH5704 everH5769; and thou, LORDH3068, becamest their GodH430.
23 Now, Yahweh, let the word that you have spoken concerning your servant, and concerning his house, be established forever, and do as you have spoken.
KJVTherefore now, LORDH3068, let the thingH1697 that thou hast spokenH1696(H8765) concerning thy servantH5650 and concerning his houseH1004 be establishedH539(H8735) forH5704 everH5769, and doH6213(H8798) as thou hast saidH1696(H8765).
24 Let your name be established and magnified forever, saying, ‘Yahweh of Armies is the God of Israel, even a God to Israel. The house of David your servant is established before you.’
KJVLet it even be establishedH539(H8735), that thy nameH8034 may be magnifiedH1431(H8799) forH5704 everH5769, sayingH559(H8800), The LORDH3068 of hostsH6635 is the GodH430 of IsraelH3478, even a GodH430 to IsraelH3478: and let the houseH1004 of DavidH1732 thy servantH5650 be establishedH3559(H8737) beforeH6440 thee.
25 For you, my God, have revealed to your servant that you will build him a house. Therefore your servant has found courage to pray before you.
KJVFor thou, O my GodH430, hast toldH1540(H8804)H241 thy servantH5650 that thou wilt buildH1129(H8800) him an houseH1004: therefore thy servantH5650 hath foundH4672(H8804) in his heart to prayH6419(H8692) beforeH6440 thee.
26 Now, Yahweh, you are God, and have promised this good thing to your servant.
KJVAnd now, LORDH3068, thou art GodH430, and hast promisedH1696(H8762) this goodnessH2896 unto thy servantH5650:
27 Now it has pleased you to bless the house of your servant, that it may continue forever before you; for you, Yahweh, have blessed, and it is blessed forever.”
KJVNow therefore let it pleaseH2974(H8689) thee to blessH1288(H8763) the houseH1004 of thy servantH5650, that it may be beforeH6440 thee for everH5769: for thou blessestH1288(H8765), O LORDH3068, and it shall be blessedH1288(H8794) for everH5769.
