2 Chronicles 12

WEB·2 Chronicles 12
1When the kingdom of Rehoboam was established and he was strong, he abandoned Yahweh’s law, and all Israel with him.
KJVAnd it came to pass, when RehoboamH7346 had establishedH3559(H8687) the kingdomH4438, and had strengthenedH2393 himself, he forsookH5800(H8804) the lawH8451 of the LORDH3068, and all IsraelH3478 with him.
2 In the fifth year of King Rehoboam, Shishak king of Egypt came up against Jerusalem, because they had trespassed against Yahweh,
KJVAnd it came to pass, that in the fifthH2549 yearH8141 of kingH4428 RehoboamH7346 ShishakH7895 kingH4428 of EgyptH4714 came upH5927(H8804) against JerusalemH3389, because they had transgressedH4603(H8804) against the LORDH3068,
3 with twelve hundred chariots and sixty thousand horsemen. The people were without number who came with him out of Egypt: the Lubim, the Sukkiim, and the Ethiopians.
KJVWith twelve hundredH3967H505 chariotsH7393, and threescoreH8346 thousandH505 horsemenH6571: and the peopleH5971 were without numberH4557 that cameH935(H8804) with him out of EgyptH4714; the LubimsH3864, the SukkiimsH5525, and the EthiopiansH3569.
4 He took the fortified cities which belonged to Judah, and came to Jerusalem.
KJVAnd he tookH3920(H8799) the fencedH4694 citiesH5892 which pertained to JudahH3063, and cameH935(H8799) to JerusalemH3389.
5 Now Shemaiah the prophet came to Rehoboam and to the princes of Judah, who were gathered together to Jerusalem because of Shishak, and said to them, “Yahweh says, ‘You have forsaken me, therefore I have also left you in the hand of Shishak.’”
KJVThen cameH935(H8804) ShemaiahH8098 the prophetH5030 to RehoboamH7346, and to the princesH8269 of JudahH3063, that were gathered togetherH622(H8738) to JerusalemH3389 becauseH6440 of ShishakH7895, and saidH559(H8799) unto them, Thus saithH559(H8804) the LORDH3068, Ye have forsakenH5800(H8804) me, and therefore have I alsoH637 leftH5800(H8804) you in the handH3027 of ShishakH7895.
6 Then the princes of Israel and the king humbled themselves; and they said, “Yahweh is righteous.”
KJVWhereupon the princesH8269 of IsraelH3478 and the kingH4428 humbledH3665(H8735) themselves; and they saidH559(H8799), The LORDH3068 is righteousH6662.
7 When Yahweh saw that they humbled themselves, Yahweh’s word came to Shemaiah, saying, “They have humbled themselves. I will not destroy them, but I will grant them some deliverance, and my wrath won’t be poured out on Jerusalem by the hand of Shishak.
KJVAnd when the LORDH3068 sawH7200(H8800) that they humbledH3665(H8738) themselves, the wordH1697 of the LORDH3068 came to ShemaiahH8098, sayingH559(H8800), They have humbledH3665(H8738) themselves; therefore I will not destroyH7843(H8686) them, but I will grantH5414(H8804) them someH4592 deliveranceH6413; and my wrathH2534 shall not be poured outH5413(H8799) upon JerusalemH3389 by the handH3027 of ShishakH7895.
8 Nevertheless they will be his servants, that they may know my service, and the service of the kingdoms of the countries.”
KJVNevertheless they shall be his servantsH5650; that they may knowH3045(H8799) my serviceH5656, and the serviceH5656 of the kingdomsH4467 of the countriesH776.
9 So Shishak king of Egypt came up against Jerusalem and took away the treasures of Yahweh’s house and the treasures of the king’s house. He took it all away. He also took away the shields of gold which Solomon had made.
KJVSo ShishakH7895 kingH4428 of EgyptH4714 came upH5927(H8799) against JerusalemH3389, and took awayH3947(H8799) the treasuresH214 of the houseH1004 of the LORDH3068, and the treasuresH214 of the king'sH4428 houseH1004; he tookH3947(H8804) all: he carried awayH3947(H8799) also the shieldsH4043 of goldH2091 which SolomonH8010 had madeH6213(H8804).
10 King Rehoboam made shields of bronze in their place, and committed them to the hands of the captains of the guard, who kept the door of the king’s house.
KJVInstead of which kingH4428 RehoboamH7346 madeH6213(H8799) shieldsH4043 of brassH5178, and committedH6485(H8689) them to the handsH3027 of the chiefH8269 of the guardH7323(H8801), that keptH8104(H8802) the entranceH6607 of the king'sH4428 houseH1004.
11 As often as the king entered into Yahweh’s house, the guard came and bore them, then brought them back into the guard room.
KJVAnd whenH1767 the kingH4428 enteredH935(H8800) into the houseH1004 of the LORDH3068, the guardH7323(H8801) cameH935(H8804) and fetchedH5375(H8804) them, and brought them againH7725(H8689) into the guardH7323(H8801) chamberH8372.
12 When he humbled himself, Yahweh’s wrath turned from him, so as not to destroy him altogether. Moreover, there were good things found in Judah.
KJVAnd when he humbledH3665(H8736) himself, the wrathH639 of the LORDH3068 turnedH7725(H8804) from him, that he would not destroyH7843(H8687) him altogetherH3617: and also in JudahH3063 thingsH1697 went wellH2896.
13 So King Rehoboam strengthened himself in Jerusalem and reigned; for Rehoboam was forty-one years old when he began to reign, and he reigned seventeen years in Jerusalem, the city which Yahweh had chosen out of all the tribes of Israel to put his name there. His mother’s name was Naamah the Ammonitess.
KJVSo kingH4428 RehoboamH7346 strengthenedH2388(H8691) himself in JerusalemH3389, and reignedH4427(H8799): for RehoboamH7346 was oneH259 and fortyH705 yearsH8141 oldH1121 when he began to reignH4427(H8800), and he reignedH4427(H8804) seventeenH7651H6240 yearsH8141 in JerusalemH3389, the cityH5892 which the LORDH3068 had chosenH977(H8804) out of all the tribesH7626 of IsraelH3478, to putH7760(H8800) his nameH8034 there. And his mother'sH517 nameH8034 was NaamahH5279 an AmmonitessH5985.
14 He did that which was evil, because he didn’t set his heart to seek Yahweh.
KJVAnd he didH6213(H8799) evilH7451, because he preparedH3559(H8689) not his heartH3820 to seekH1875(H8800) the LORDH3068.
15 Now the acts of Rehoboam, first and last, aren’t they written in the histories of Shemaiah the prophet and of Iddo the seer, in the genealogies? There were wars between Rehoboam and Jeroboam continually.
KJVNow the actsH1697 of RehoboamH7346, firstH7223 and lastH314, are they not writtenH3789(H8803) in the bookH1697 of ShemaiahH8098 the prophetH5030, and of IddoH5714 the seerH2374 concerning genealogiesH3187(H8692)? And there were warsH4421 between RehoboamH7346 and JeroboamH3379 continuallyH3117.
16 Rehoboam slept with his fathers, and was buried in David’s city; and Abijah his son reigned in his place.
KJVAnd RehoboamH7346 sleptH7901(H8799) with his fathersH1, and was buriedH6912(H8735) in the cityH5892 of DavidH1732: and AbijahH29 his sonH1121 reignedH4427(H8799) in his stead.
