WEB·Psalms 52
1For the Chief Musician. A contemplation by David, when Doeg the Edomite came and told Saul, “David has come to Ahimelech’s house.” Why do you boast of mischief, mighty man? God’s loving kindness endures continually.
KJVTo the chief MusicianH5329(H8764), MaschilH4905(H8688), A Psalm of DavidH1732, when DoegH1673 the EdomiteH130 cameH935(H8800) and toldH5046(H8686) SaulH7586, and saidH559(H8799) unto him, DavidH1732 is comeH935(H8804) to the houseH1004 of AhimelechH288. Why boastestH1984(H8691) thou thyself in mischiefH7451, O mightyH1368 man? the goodnessH2617 of GodH410 endureth continuallyH3117.
2 Your tongue plots destruction, like a sharp razor, working deceitfully.
KJVThy tongueH3956 devisethH2803(H8799) mischiefsH1942; like a sharpH3913(H8794) razorH8593, workingH6213(H8802) deceitfullyH7423.
3 You love evil more than good, lying rather than speaking the truth. Selah.
KJVThou lovestH157(H8804) evilH7451 more than goodH2896; and lyingH8267 rather than to speakH1696(H8763) righteousnessH6664. SelahH5542.
4 You love all devouring words, you deceitful tongue.
KJVThou lovestH157(H8804) all devouringH1105 wordsH1697, O thou deceitfulH4820 tongueH3956.
5 God will likewise destroy you forever. He will take you up, and pluck you out of your tent, and root you out of the land of the living. Selah.
KJVGodH410 shall likewise destroyH5422(H8799) thee for everH5331, he shall take thee awayH2846(H8799), and pluck thee outH5255(H8799) of thy dwelling placeH168, and root thee outH8327(H8765) of the landH776 of the livingH2416. SelahH5542.
6 The righteous also will see it, and fear, and laugh at him, saying,
KJVThe righteousH6662 also shall seeH7200(H8799), and fearH3372(H8799), and shall laughH7832(H8799) at him:
7 “Behold, this is the man who didn’t make God his strength, but trusted in the abundance of his riches, and strengthened himself in his wickedness.”
KJVLo, this is the manH1397 that madeH7760(H8799) not GodH430 his strengthH4581; but trustedH982(H8799) in the abundanceH7230 of his richesH6239, and strengthenedH5810(H8799) himself in his wickednessH1942.
8 But as for me, I am like a green olive tree in God’s house. I trust in God’s loving kindness forever and ever.
KJVBut I am like a greenH7488 olive treeH2132 in the houseH1004 of GodH430: I trustH982(H8804) in the mercyH2617 of GodH430 for everH5769 and everH5703.
9 I will give you thanks forever, because you have done it. I will hope in your name, for it is good, in the presence of your saints.
KJVI will praiseH3034(H8686) thee for everH5769, because thou hast doneH6213(H8804) it: and I will waitH6960(H8762) on thy nameH8034; for it is goodH2896 before thy saintsH2623.
