Exodus 1

1Nowe these are the names of the children of Israel, which came into Egypt (euery man and his housholde came thither with Iaakob)
KJVNow these are the namesH8034 of the childrenH1121 of IsraelH3478, which cameH935(H8802) into EgyptH4714; every manH376 and his householdH1004 cameH935(H8804) with JacobH3290.
2 Reuben, Simeon, Leui, and Iudah,
KJVReubenH7205, SimeonH8095, LeviH3878, and JudahH3063,
3 Issachar, Zebulun, and Beniamin,
KJVIssacharH3485, ZebulunH2074, and BenjaminH1144,
4 Dan, and Naphtali, Gad, and Asher.
KJVDanH1835, and NaphtaliH5321, GadH1410, and AsherH836.
5 So al the soules, that came out of the loines of Iaakob, were seuentie soules: Ioseph was in Egypt already.
KJVAnd all the soulsH5315 that came outH3318(H8802) of the loinsH3409 of JacobH3290 were seventyH7657 soulsH5315: for JosephH3130 was in EgyptH4714 already.
6 Nowe Ioseph died and all his brethren, and that whole generation.
KJVAnd JosephH3130 diedH4191(H8799), and all his brethrenH251, and all that generationH1755.
7 And the children of Israel brought foorth fruite and encreased in aboundance, and were multiplied, and were exceeding mightie, so that the land was full of them.
KJVAnd the childrenH1121 of IsraelH3478 were fruitfulH6509(H8804), and increased abundantlyH8317(H8799), and multipliedH7235(H8799), and waxed exceedingH3966H3966 mightyH6105(H8799); and the landH776 was filledH4390(H8735) with them.
8 Then there rose vp a newe King in Egypt, who knewe not Ioseph.
KJVNow there arose upH6965(H8799) a newH2319 kingH4428 over EgyptH4714, which knewH3045(H8804) not JosephH3130.
9 And he sayde vnto his people, Beholde, the people of the children of Israel are greater and mightier then we.
KJVAnd he saidH559(H8799) unto his peopleH5971, Behold, the peopleH5971 of the childrenH1121 of IsraelH3478 are moreH7227 and mightierH6099 than we:
10 Come, let vs worke wisely with them, least they multiplie, and it come to passe, that if there be warre, they ioyne them selues also vnto our enemies, and fight against vs, and get them out of the land.
KJVCome onH3051(H8798), let us deal wiselyH2449(H8691) with them; lest they multiplyH7235(H8799), and it come to pass, that, when there falleth outH7122(H8799) any warH4421, theyH1931 joinH3254(H8738) also unto our enemiesH8130(H8802), and fightH3898(H8738) against us, and so get them upH5927(H8804) out of the landH776.
11 Therefore did they set taskemasters ouer them, to keepe the vnder with burdens: and they built the cities Pithom and Raamses for the treasures of Pharaoh.
KJVTherefore they did setH7760(H8799) over them taskmastersH4522H8269 to afflictH6031(H8763) them with their burdensH5450. And they builtH1129(H8799) for PharaohH6547 treasureH4543 citiesH5892, PithomH6619 and RaamsesH7486.
12 But the more they vexed them, the more they multiplied and grewe: therefore they were more grieued against the children of Israel.
KJVBut the more they afflictedH6031(H8762) them, the moreH3651 they multipliedH7235(H8799) and grewH6555(H8799). And they were grievedH6973(H8799) becauseH6440 of the childrenH1121 of IsraelH3478.
13 Wherefore the Egyptians by crueltie caused the children of Israel to serue.
KJVAnd the EgyptiansH4714 madeH5647 the childrenH1121 of IsraelH3478 to serveH5647(H8686) with rigourH6531:
14 Thus they made them weary of their liues by sore labour in clay & in bricke, & in al worke in the fielde, with all maner of bondage, which they layde vpon them most cruelly.
KJVAnd they madeH4843 their livesH2416 bitterH4843(H8762) with hardH7186 bondageH5656, in morterH2563, and in brickH3843, and in all manner of serviceH5656 in the fieldH7704: all their serviceH5656, wherein they made them serveH5647(H8804), was with rigourH6531.
15 Moreouer the King of Egypt commanded ye midwiues of the Ebrewe women, (of which the ones name was Shiphrah, and the name of the other Puah)
KJVAnd the kingH4428 of EgyptH4714 spakeH559(H8799) to the HebrewH5680 midwivesH3205(H8764), of which the nameH8034 of the oneH259 was ShiphrahH8236, and the nameH8034 of the otherH8145 PuahH6326:
16 And sayde, When ye doe the office of a midwife to the women of the Ebrewes, and see them on their stooles, if it be a sonne, then yee shall kill him: but if it be a daughter, then let her liue.
KJVAnd he saidH559(H8799), When ye do the office of a midwifeH3205(H8763) to the Hebrew womenH5680, and seeH7200(H8804) them upon the stoolsH70; if it be a sonH1121, then ye shall killH4191(H8689) him: but if it be a daughterH1323, then she shall liveH2425(H8804).
17 Notwithstanding ye midwiues feared God, and did not as the King of Egypt commaunded them, but preserued aliue the men children.
KJVBut the midwivesH3205(H8764) fearedH3372(H8799) GodH430, and didH6213(H8804) not as the kingH4428 of EgyptH4714 commandedH1696(H8765) them, but savedH2421 the men childrenH3206 aliveH2421(H8762).
18 Then the King of Egypt called for the midwiues, and sayde vnto them, Why haue yee done thus, and haue preserued aliue the men children?
KJVAnd the kingH4428 of EgyptH4714 calledH7121(H8799) for the midwivesH3205(H8764), and saidH559(H8799) unto them, WhyH4069 have ye doneH6213(H8804) this thingH1697, and have savedH2421 the men childrenH3206 aliveH2421(H8762)?
19 And the midwiues answered Pharaoh, Because the Ebrewe women are not as the women of Egypt: for they are liuely, and are deliuered yer the midwife come at them.
KJVAnd the midwivesH3205(H8764) saidH559(H8799) unto PharaohH6547, Because the HebrewH5680 womenH802 are not as the Egyptian womenH4713; for they are livelyH2422, and are deliveredH3205(H8804) ereH2962 the midwivesH3205(H8764) come inH935(H8799) unto them.
20 God therefore prospered the midwiues, and the people multiplied and were very mightie.
KJVTherefore GodH430 dealt wellH3190(H8686) with the midwivesH3205(H8764): and the peopleH5971 multipliedH7235(H8799), and waxed veryH3966 mightyH6105(H8799).
21 And because ye midwiues feared God, therefore he made them houses.
KJVAnd it came to pass, because the midwivesH3205(H8764) fearedH3372(H8804) GodH430, that he madeH6213(H8799) them housesH1004.
22 Then Pharaoh charged all his people, saying, Euery man childe that is borne, cast yee into the riuer, but reserue euery maide childe aliue.
KJVAnd PharaohH6547 chargedH6680(H8762) all his peopleH5971, sayingH559(H8800), Every sonH1121 that is bornH3209 ye shall castH7993(H8686) into the riverH2975, and every daughterH1323 ye shall save aliveH2421(H8762).
