WEB·Exodus 21
1“Now these are the ordinances which you shall set before them:
KJVNow these are the judgmentsH4941 which thou shalt setH7760(H8799) beforeH6440 them.
2 “If you buy a Hebrew servant, he shall serve six years, and in the seventh he shall go out free without paying anything.
KJVIf thou buyH7069(H8799) an HebrewH5680 servantH5650, sixH8337 yearsH8141 he shall serveH5647(H8799): and in the seventhH7637 he shall go outH3318(H8799) freeH2670 for nothingH2600.
3 If he comes in by himself, he shall go out by himself. If he is married, then his wife shall go out with him.
KJVIf he came inH935(H8799) by himselfH1610, he shall go outH3318(H8799) by himselfH1610: if he were marriedH1167H802, then his wifeH802 shall go outH3318(H8804) with him.
4 If his master gives him a wife and she bears him sons or daughters, the wife and her children shall be her master’s, and he shall go out by himself.
KJVIf his masterH113 have givenH5414(H8799) him a wifeH802, and she have bornH3205(H8804) him sonsH1121 or daughtersH1323; the wifeH802 and her childrenH3206 shall be her master'sH113, and he shall go outH3318(H8799) by himselfH1610.
5 But if the servant shall plainly say, ‘I love my master, my wife, and my children. I will not go out free;’
KJVAnd if the servantH5650 shall plainlyH559(H8800) sayH559(H8799), I loveH157(H8804) my masterH113, my wifeH802, and my childrenH1121; I will not go outH3318(H8799) freeH2670:
6 then his master shall bring him to God, and shall bring him to the door or to the doorpost, and his master shall bore his ear through with an awl, and he shall serve him forever.
KJVThen his masterH113 shall bringH5066(H8689) him unto the judgesH430; he shall also bringH5066(H8689) him to the doorH1817, or unto the door postH4201; and his masterH113 shall boreH7527(H8804) his earH241 through with an aulH4836; and he shall serveH5647(H8804) him for everH5769.
7 “If a man sells his daughter to be a female servant, she shall not go out as the male servants do.
KJVAnd if a manH376 sellH4376(H8799) his daughterH1323 to be a maidservantH519, she shall not go outH3318(H8799) as the menservantsH5650 doH3318(H8800).
8 If she doesn’t please her master, who has married her to himself, then he shall let her be redeemed. He shall have no right to sell her to a foreign people, since he has dealt deceitfully with her.
KJVIf she pleaseH7451H5869 not her masterH113, who hath betrothedH3259(H8804) her to himself, then shall he let her be redeemedH6299(H8689): to sellH4376(H8800) her unto a strangeH5237 nationH5971 he shall have no powerH4910(H8799), seeing he hath dealt deceitfullyH898(H8800) with her.
9 If he marries her to his son, he shall deal with her as a daughter.
KJVAnd if he have betrothedH3259(H8799) her unto his sonH1121, he shall dealH6213(H8799) with her after the mannerH4941 of daughtersH1323.
10 If he takes another wife to himself, he shall not diminish her food, her clothing, and her marital rights.
KJVIf he takeH3947(H8799) him anotherH312 wife; her foodH7607, her raimentH3682, and her duty of marriageH5772, shall he not diminishH1639(H8799).
11 If he doesn’t do these three things for her, she may go free without paying any money.
KJVAnd if he doH6213(H8799) not these threeH7969 unto her, then shall she go outH3318(H8804) freeH2600 without moneyH3701.
12 “One who strikes a man so that he dies shall surely be put to death,
KJVHe that smitethH5221(H8688) a manH376, so that he dieH4191(H8804), shall be surelyH4191(H8800) put to deathH4191(H8714).
13 but not if it is unintentional, but God allows it to happen; then I will appoint you a place where he shall flee.
KJVAnd if a man lie not in waitH6658(H8804), but GodH430 deliverH579(H8765) him into his handH3027; then I will appointH7760(H8804) thee a placeH4725 whither he shall fleeH5127(H8799).
14 If a man schemes and comes presumptuously on his neighbor to kill him, you shall take him from my altar, that he may die.
KJVBut if a manH376 come presumptuouslyH2102(H8686) upon his neighbourH7453, to slayH2026(H8800) him with guileH6195; thou shalt takeH3947(H8799) him from mine altarH4196, that he may dieH4191(H8800).
15 “Anyone who attacks his father or his mother shall be surely put to death.
KJVAnd he that smitethH5221(H8688) his fatherH1, or his motherH517, shall be surelyH4191(H8800) put to deathH4191(H8714).
16 “Anyone who kidnaps someone and sells him, or if he is found in his hand, he shall surely be put to death.
KJVAnd he that stealethH1589(H8802) a manH376, and sellethH4376(H8804) him, or if he be foundH4672(H8738) in his handH3027, he shall surelyH4191(H8800) be put to deathH4191(H8714).
17 “Anyone who curses his father or his mother shall surely be put to death.
KJVAnd he that cursethH7043(H8764) his fatherH1, or his motherH517, shall surelyH4191(H8800) be put to deathH4191(H8714).
18 “If men quarrel and one strikes the other with a stone, or with his fist, and he doesn’t die, but is confined to bed;
KJVAnd if menH582 striveH7378(H8799) together, and oneH376 smiteH5221(H8689) anotherH7453 with a stoneH68, orH176 with his fistH106, and he dieH4191(H8799) not, but keepethH5307(H8804) his bedH4904:
19 if he rises again and walks around with his staff, then he who struck him shall be cleared; only he shall pay for the loss of his time, and shall provide for his healing until he is thoroughly healed.
KJVIf he rise againH6965(H8799), and walkH1980(H8694) abroadH2351 upon his staffH4938, then shall he that smoteH5221(H8688) him be quitH5352(H8738): only he shall payH5414(H8799) for the loss of his timeH7674, and shall cause him to be thoroughlyH7495(H8763) healedH7495(H8762).
20 “If a man strikes his servant or his maid with a rod, and he dies under his hand, the man shall surely be punished.
KJVAnd if a manH376 smiteH5221(H8686) his servantH5650, or his maidH519, with a rodH7626, and he dieH4191(H8804) under his handH3027; he shall be surelyH5358(H8800) punishedH5358(H8735).
21 Notwithstanding, if his servant gets up after a day or two, he shall not be punished, for the servant is his property.
KJVNotwithstandingH389, if he continueH5975(H8799) a dayH3117 or twoH8147, he shall not be punishedH5358(H8714): for he is his moneyH3701.
22 “If men fight and hurt a pregnant woman so that she gives birth prematurely, and yet no harm follows, he shall be surely fined as much as the woman’s husband demands and the judges allow.
KJVIf menH582 striveH5327(H8735), and hurtH5062(H8804) a womanH802 with childH2030, so that her fruitH3206 departH3318(H8804) from her, and yet no mischief followH611: he shall be surelyH6064(H8800) punishedH6064(H8735), according as the woman'sH802 husbandH1167 will layH7896(H8799) upon him; and he shall payH5414(H8804) as the judgesH6414 determine.
23 But if any harm follows, then you must take life for life,
KJVAnd if any mischief followH611, then thou shalt giveH5414(H8804) lifeH5315 for lifeH5315,
24 eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot,
KJVEyeH5869 for eyeH5869, toothH8127 for toothH8127, handH3027 for handH3027, footH7272 for footH7272,
25 burning for burning, wound for wound, and bruise for bruise.
KJVBurningH3555 for burningH3555, woundH6482 for woundH6482, stripeH2250 for stripeH2250.
26 “If a man strikes his servant’s eye, or his maid’s eye, and destroys it, he shall let him go free for his eye’s sake.
KJVAnd if a manH376 smiteH5221(H8686) the eyeH5869 of his servantH5650, or the eyeH5869 of his maidH519, that it perishH7843(H8765); he shall let him goH7971(H8762) freeH2670 forH8478 his eye'sH5869 sake.

29 But if the bull had a habit of goring in the past, and this has been testified to its owner, and he has not kept it in, but it has killed a man or a woman, the bull shall be stoned, and its owner shall also be put to death.
KJVBut if the oxH7794 were wont to push with his hornH5056 in time pastH8543H8032, and it hath been testifiedH5749(H8717) to his ownerH1167, and he hath not keptH8104(H8799) him in, but that he hath killedH4191(H8689) a manH376 or a womanH802; the oxH7794 shall be stonedH5619(H8735), and his ownerH1167 also shall be put to deathH4191(H8714).

KJVAnd if a manH376 shall openH6605(H8799) a pitH953, or if a manH376 shall digH3738(H8799) a pitH953, and not coverH3680(H8762) it, and an oxH7794 or an assH2543 fallH5307(H8804) therein;

KJVAnd if one man'sH376 oxH7794 hurtH5062(H8799) another'sH7453, that he dieH4191(H8804); then they shall sellH4376(H8804) the liveH2416 oxH7794, and divideH2673(H8804) the moneyH3701 of it; and the deadH4191(H8801) ox also they shall divideH2673(H8799).
36 Or if it is known that the bull was in the habit of goring in the past, and its owner has not kept it in, he shall surely pay bull for bull, and the dead animal shall be his own.
KJVOr if it be knownH3045(H8738) that the oxH7794 hath used to pushH5056 in time pastH8543H8032, and his ownerH1167 hath not keptH8104(H8799) him in; he shall surelyH7999(H8763) payH7999(H8762) oxH7794 for oxH7794; and the deadH4191(H8801) shall be his own.
