Isaiah 45
WEB·Isaiah 45
1Yahweh says to his anointed, to Cyrus, whose right hand I have held to subdue nations before him and strip kings of their armor, to open the doors before him, and the gates shall not be shut:
KJVThus saithH559(H8804) the LORDH3068 to his anointedH4899, to CyrusH3566, whose right handH3225 I have holdenH2388(H8689), to subdueH7286(H8800) nationsH1471 beforeH6440 him; and I will looseH6605(H8762) the loinsH4975 of kingsH4428, to openH6605(H8800) beforeH6440 him the two leaved gatesH1817; and the gatesH8179 shall not be shutH5462(H8735);
2 “I will go before you and make the rough places smooth. I will break the doors of bronze in pieces and cut apart the bars of iron.
KJVI will goH3212(H8799) beforeH6440 thee, and makeH3474 the crooked placesH1921(H8803) straightH3474(H8762)(H8675)H3474(H8686): I will break in piecesH7665(H8762) the gatesH1817 of brassH5154, and cut in sunderH1438(H8762) the barsH1280 of ironH1270:
3 I will give you the treasures of darkness and hidden riches of secret places, that you may know that it is I, Yahweh, who calls you by your name, even the God of Israel.
KJVAnd I will giveH5414(H8804) thee the treasuresH214 of darknessH2822, and hidden richesH4301 of secret placesH4565, that thou mayest knowH3045(H8799) that I, the LORDH3068, which callH7121(H8802) thee by thy nameH8034, am the GodH430 of IsraelH3478.
4 For Jacob my servant’s sake, and Israel my chosen, I have called you by your name. I have given you a title, though you have not known me.
KJVFor JacobH3290 my servant'sH5650 sake, and IsraelH3478 mine electH972, I have even calledH7121(H8799) thee by thy nameH8034: I have surnamedH3655(H8762) thee, though thou hast not knownH3045(H8804) me.
5 I am Yahweh, and there is no one else. Besides me, there is no God. I will strengthen you, though you have not known me,
KJVI am the LORDH3068, and there is none else, there is no GodH430 besideH2108 me: I girdedH247(H8762) thee, though thou hast not knownH3045(H8804) me:
6 that they may know from the rising of the sun, and from the west, that there is no one besides me. I am Yahweh, and there is no one else.
KJVThat they may knowH3045(H8799) from the risingH4217 of the sunH8121, and from the westH4628, that there is noneH657 besideH1107 me. I am the LORDH3068, and there is none else.
7 I form the light and create darkness. I make peace and create calamity. I am Yahweh, who does all these things.
KJVI formH3335(H8802) the lightH216, and createH1254(H8802) darknessH2822: I makeH6213(H8802) peaceH7965, and createH1254(H8802) evilH7451: I the LORDH3068 doH6213(H8802) all these things.
8 Rain, you heavens, from above, and let the skies pour down righteousness. Let the earth open, that it may produce salvation, and let it cause righteousness to spring up with it. I, Yahweh, have created it.
KJVDrop downH7491(H8685), ye heavensH8064, from aboveH4605, and let the skiesH7834 pour downH5140(H8799) righteousnessH6664: let the earthH776 openH6605(H8799), and let them bring forthH6509(H8799) salvationH3468, and let righteousnessH6666 spring upH6779(H8686) togetherH3162; I the LORDH3068 have createdH1254(H8804) it.
9 Woe to him who strives with his Maker— a clay pot among the clay pots of the earth! Shall the clay ask him who fashions it, ‘What are you making?’ or your work, ‘He has no hands’?
KJVWoeH1945 unto him that strivethH7378(H8801) with his MakerH3335(H8802)! Let the potsherdH2789 strive with the potsherdsH2789 of the earthH127. Shall the clayH2563 sayH559(H8799) to him that fashionethH3335(H8802) it, What makestH6213(H8799) thou? or thy workH6467, He hath no handsH3027?
10 Woe to him who says to a father, ‘What have you become the father of?’ or to a mother, ‘What have you given birth to?’”
KJVWoeH1945 unto him that saithH559(H8802) unto his fatherH1, What begettestH3205(H8686) thou? or to the womanH802, What hast thou brought forthH2342(H8799)?
11 Yahweh, the Holy One of Israel and his Maker says: “You ask me about the things that are to come, concerning my sons, and you command me concerning the work of my hands!
KJVThus saithH559(H8804) the LORDH3068, the Holy OneH6918 of IsraelH3478, and his MakerH3335(H8802), AskH7592(H8798) me of things to comeH857(H8802) concerning my sonsH1121, and concerning the workH6467 of my handsH3027 commandH6680(H8762) ye me.
12 I have made the earth, and created man on it. I, even my hands, have stretched out the heavens. I have commanded all their army.
KJVI have madeH6213(H8804) the earthH776, and createdH1254(H8804) manH120 upon it: I, even my handsH3027, have stretched outH5186(H8804) the heavensH8064, and all their hostH6635 have I commandedH6680(H8765).
13 I have raised him up in righteousness, and I will make all his ways straight. He shall build my city, and he shall let my exiles go free, not for price nor reward,” says Yahweh of Armies.
KJVI have raised him upH5782(H8689) in righteousnessH6664, and I will directH3474(H8762) all his waysH1870: he shall buildH1129(H8799) my cityH5892, and he shall let goH7971(H8762) my captivesH1546, not for priceH4242 nor rewardH7810, saithH559(H8804) the LORDH3068 of hostsH6635.
14 Yahweh says: “The labor of Egypt, and the merchandise of Ethiopia, and the Sabeans, men of stature, will come over to you, and they will be yours. They will go after you. They shall come over in chains. They will bow down to you. They will make supplication to you: ‘Surely God is in you; and there is no one else. There is no other god.
KJVThus saithH559(H8804) the LORDH3068, The labourH3018 of EgyptH4714, and merchandiseH5505 of EthiopiaH3568 and of the SabeansH5436, menH582 of statureH4060, shall come overH5674(H8799) unto thee, and they shall be thine: they shall comeH3212(H8799) afterH310 thee; in chainsH2131 they shall come overH5674(H8799), and they shall fall downH7812(H8691) unto thee, they shall make supplicationH6419(H8691) unto thee, saying, Surely GodH410 is in thee; and there is none else, there is noH657 GodH430.
15 Most certainly you are a God who has hidden yourself, God of Israel, the Savior.’”
KJVVerilyH403 thou art a GodH410 that hidestH5641(H8693) thyself, O GodH430 of IsraelH3478, the SaviourH3467(H8688).
16 They will be disappointed, yes, confounded, all of them. Those who are makers of idols will go into confusion together.
KJVThey shall be ashamedH954(H8804), and also confoundedH3637(H8738), all of them: they shall goH1980(H8804) to confusionH3639 togetherH3162 that are makersH2796 of idolsH6736.
17 Israel will be saved by Yahweh with an everlasting salvation. You will not be disappointed nor confounded to ages everlasting.
KJVBut IsraelH3478 shall be savedH3467(H8738) in the LORDH3068 with an everlastingH5769 salvationH8668: ye shall not be ashamedH954(H8799) nor confoundedH3637(H8735) worldH5769 without endH5703.
18 For Yahweh who created the heavens, the God who formed the earth and made it, who established it and didn’t create it a waste, who formed it to be inhabited says: “I am Yahweh. There is no other.
KJVFor thus saithH559(H8804) the LORDH3068 that createdH1254(H8802) the heavensH8064; GodH430 himself that formedH3335(H8802) the earthH776 and madeH6213(H8802) it; he hath establishedH3559(H8790) it, he createdH1254(H8804) it not in vainH8414, he formedH3335(H8804) it to be inhabitedH3427(H8800): I am the LORDH3068; and there is none else.
19 I have not spoken in secret, in a place of the land of darkness. I didn’t say to the offspring of Jacob, ‘Seek me in vain.’ I, Yahweh, speak righteousness. I declare things that are right.
KJVI have not spokenH1696(H8765) in secretH5643, in a darkH2822 placeH4725 of the earthH776: I saidH559(H8804) not unto the seedH2233 of JacobH3290, SeekH1245(H8761) ye me in vainH8414: I the LORDH3068 speakH1696(H8802) righteousnessH6664, I declareH5046(H8688) things that are rightH4339.
20 “Assemble yourselves and come. Draw near together, you who have escaped from the nations. Those have no knowledge who carry the wood of their engraved image, and pray to a god that can’t save.
KJVAssembleH6908(H8734) yourselves and comeH935(H8798); draw nearH5066(H8690) togetherH3162, ye that are escapedH6412 of the nationsH1471: they have no knowledgeH3045(H8804) that set upH5375(H8802) the woodH6086 of their graven imageH6459, and prayH6419(H8693) unto a godH410 that cannot saveH3467(H8686).
21 Declare and present it. Yes, let them take counsel together. Who has shown this from ancient time? Who has declared it of old? Haven’t I, Yahweh? There is no other God besides me, a just God and a Savior. There is no one besides me.
KJVTellH5046(H8685) ye, and bring them nearH5066(H8685); yea, let them take counselH3289(H8735) togetherH3162: who hath declaredH8085(H8689) this from ancient timeH6924? who hath toldH5046(H8689) it from that time? have not I the LORDH3068? and there is no GodH430 else besideH1107 me; a justH6662 GodH410 and a SaviourH3467(H8688); there is noneH369 besideH2108 me.
22 “Look to me, and be saved, all the ends of the earth; for I am God, and there is no other.
KJVLookH6437(H8798) unto me, and be ye savedH3467(H8734), all the endsH657 of the earthH776: for I am GodH410, and there is none else.
23 I have sworn by myself. The word has gone out of my mouth in righteousness, and will not be revoked, that to me every knee shall bow, every tongue shall take an oath.
KJVI have swornH7650(H8738) by myself, the wordH1697 is gone outH3318(H8804) of my mouthH6310 in righteousnessH6666, and shall not returnH7725(H8799), That unto me every kneeH1290 shall bowH3766(H8799), every tongueH3956 shall swearH7650(H8735).
24 They will say of me, ‘There is righteousness and strength only in Yahweh.’” Even to him will men come. All those who raged against him will be disappointed.
KJVSurely, shall one sayH559(H8804), in the LORDH3068 have I righteousnessH6666 and strengthH5797: even to him shall men comeH935(H8799); and all that are incensedH2734(H8737) against him shall be ashamedH954(H8799).
25 All the offspring of Israel will be justified in Yahweh, and will rejoice!
KJVIn the LORDH3068 shall all the seedH2233 of IsraelH3478 be justifiedH6663(H8799), and shall gloryH1984(H8691).
