Isaiah 46
WEB·Isaiah 46
1Bel bows down. Nebo stoops. Their idols are carried by animals, and on the livestock. The things that you carried around are heavy loads, a burden for the weary.
KJVBelH1078 boweth downH3766(H8804), NeboH5015 stoopethH7164(H8802), their idolsH6091 were upon the beastsH2416, and upon the cattleH929: your carriagesH5385 were heavy loadenH6006(H8803); they are a burdenH4853 to the wearyH5889 beast.
2 They stoop and they bow down together. They could not deliver the burden, but they have gone into captivity.
KJVThey stoopH7164(H8804), they bow downH3766(H8804) togetherH3162; they couldH3201(H8804) not deliverH4422(H8763) the burdenH4853, but themselvesH5315 are goneH1980(H8804) into captivityH7628.
3 “Listen to me, house of Jacob, and all the remnant of the house of Israel, that have been carried from their birth, that have been carried from the womb.
KJVHearkenH8085(H8798) unto me, O houseH1004 of JacobH3290, and all the remnantH7611 of the houseH1004 of IsraelH3478, which are borneH6006(H8803) by me from the bellyH990, which are carriedH5375(H8803) from the wombH7356:
4 Even to old age I am he, and even to gray hairs I will carry you. I have made, and I will bear. Yes, I will carry, and will deliver.
KJVAnd even to your old ageH2209 I am he; and even to hoar hairsH7872 will I carryH5445(H8799) you: I have madeH6213(H8804), and I will bearH5375(H8799); even I will carryH5445(H8799), and will deliverH4422(H8762) you.
5 “To whom will you compare me, and consider my equal, and compare me, as if we were the same?
KJVTo whom will ye likenH1819(H8762) me, and make me equalH7737(H8686), and compareH4911(H8686) me, that we may be likeH1819(H8799)?
6 Some pour out gold from the bag, and weigh silver in the balance. They hire a goldsmith, and he makes it a god. They fall down— yes, they worship.
KJVThey lavishH2107(H8801) goldH2091 out of the bagH3599, and weighH8254(H8799) silverH3701 in the balanceH7070, and hireH7936(H8799) a goldsmithH6884(H8802); and he makethH6213(H8799) it a godH410: they fall downH5456(H8799), yea, they worshipH7812(H8691).
7 They bear it on their shoulder. They carry it, and set it in its place, and it stands there. It cannot move from its place. Yes, one may cry to it, yet it can not answer. It cannot save him out of his trouble.
KJVThey bearH5375(H8799) him upon the shoulderH3802, they carryH5445(H8799) him, and set him in his placeH3240(H8686), and he standethH5975(H8799); from his placeH4725 shall he not removeH4185(H8686): yea, one shall cryH6817(H8799) unto him, yet can he not answerH6030(H8799), nor saveH3467(H8686) him out of his troubleH6869.
8 “Remember this, and show yourselves men. Bring it to mind again, you transgressors.
KJVRememberH2142(H8798) this, and shew yourselves menH377(H8695): bring it againH7725(H8685) to mindH3820, O ye transgressorsH6586(H8802).
9 Remember the former things of old; for I am God, and there is no other. I am God, and there is none like me.
KJVRememberH2142(H8798) the former thingsH7223 of oldH5769: for I am GodH410, and there is none else; I am GodH430, and there is noneH657 likeH3644 me,
10 I declare the end from the beginning, and from ancient times things that are not yet done. I say: My counsel will stand, and I will do all that I please.
KJVDeclaringH5046(H8688) the endH319 from the beginningH7225, and from ancient timesH6924 the things that are not yet doneH6213(H8738), sayingH559(H8802), My counselH6098 shall standH6965(H8799), and I will doH6213(H8799) all my pleasureH2656:
11 I call a ravenous bird from the east, the man of my counsel from a far country. Yes, I have spoken. I will also bring it to pass. I have planned. I will also do it.
KJVCallingH7121(H8802) a ravenous birdH5861 from the eastH4217, the manH376 that executeth my counselH6098 from a farH4801 countryH776: yea, I have spokenH1696(H8765) it, I will also bringH935(H8686) it to pass; I have purposedH3335(H8804) it, I will also doH6213(H8799) it.
12 Listen to me, you stubborn-hearted, who are far from righteousness!
KJVHearkenH8085(H8798) unto me, ye stoutheartedH47H3820, that are far fromH7350 righteousnessH6666:
13 I bring my righteousness near. It is not far off, and my salvation will not wait. I will grant salvation to Zion, my glory to Israel.
KJVI bring nearH7126(H8765) my righteousnessH6666; it shall not be far offH7368(H8799), and my salvationH8668 shall not tarryH309(H8762): and I will placeH5414(H8804) salvationH8668 in ZionH6726 for IsraelH3478 my gloryH8597.
