Isaiah 52
WEB·Isaiah 52
1Awake, awake! Put on your strength, Zion. Put on your beautiful garments, Jerusalem, the holy city, for from now on the uncircumcised and the unclean will no more come into you.
KJVAwakeH5782(H8798), awakeH5782(H8798); put onH3847(H8798) thy strengthH5797, O ZionH6726; put onH3847(H8798) thy beautifulH8597 garmentsH899, O JerusalemH3389, the holyH6944 cityH5892: for henceforth there shall no moreH3254(H8686) comeH935(H8799) into thee the uncircumcisedH6189 and the uncleanH2931.
2 Shake yourself from the dust! Arise, sit up, Jerusalem! Release yourself from the bonds of your neck, captive daughter of Zion!
KJVShakeH5287(H8690) thyself from the dustH6083; ariseH6965(H8798), and sit downH3427(H8798), O JerusalemH3389: looseH6605(H8690) thyself from the bandsH4147 of thy neckH6677, O captiveH7628 daughterH1323 of ZionH6726.
3 For Yahweh says, “You were sold for nothing; and you will be redeemed without money.”
KJVFor thus saithH559(H8804) the LORDH3068, Ye have soldH4376(H8738) yourselves for noughtH2600; and ye shall be redeemedH1350(H8735) without moneyH3701.
4 For the Lord Yahweh says: “My people went down at the first into Egypt to live there; and the Assyrian has oppressed them without cause.
KJVFor thus saithH559(H8804) the LordH136 GODH3069, My peopleH5971 went downH3381(H8804) aforetimeH7223 into EgyptH4714 to sojournH1481(H8800) there; and the AssyrianH804 oppressedH6231(H8804) them without causeH657.
5 “Now therefore, what do I do here,” says Yahweh, “seeing that my people are taken away for nothing? Those who rule over them mock,” says Yahweh, “and my name is blasphemed continually all day long.
KJVNow therefore, what have I here, saithH5002(H8803) the LORDH3068, that my peopleH5971 is taken awayH3947(H8795) for noughtH2600? they that ruleH4910(H8802) over them make them to howlH3213(H8686), saithH5002(H8803) the LORDH3068; and my nameH8034 continuallyH8548 every dayH3117 is blasphemedH5006(H8711).
6 Therefore my people shall know my name. Therefore they shall know in that day that I am he who speaks. Behold, it is I.”
KJVTherefore my peopleH5971 shall knowH3045(H8799) my nameH8034: therefore they shall know in that dayH3117 that I am he that doth speakH1696(H8764): behold, it is I.
7 How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of him who brings good news, who publishes peace, who brings good news, who proclaims salvation, who says to Zion, “Your God reigns!”
KJVHow beautifulH4998(H8773) upon the mountainsH2022 are the feetH7272 of him that bringeth good tidingsH1319(H8764), that publishethH8085(H8688) peaceH7965; that bringeth good tidingsH1319(H8764) of goodH2896, that publishethH8085(H8688) salvationH3444; that saithH559(H8802) unto ZionH6726, Thy GodH430 reignethH4427(H8804)!
8 Your watchmen lift up their voice. Together they sing; for they shall see eye to eye when Yahweh returns to Zion.
KJVThy watchmenH6822(H8802) shall lift upH5375(H8804) the voiceH6963; with the voiceH6963 togetherH3162 shall they singH7442(H8762): for they shall seeH7200(H8799) eyeH5869 to eyeH5869, when the LORDH3068 shall bring againH7725(H8800) ZionH6726.
9 Break out into joy! Sing together, you waste places of Jerusalem; for Yahweh has comforted his people. He has redeemed Jerusalem.
KJVBreak forth into joyH6476(H8798), singH7442(H8761) togetherH3162, ye waste placesH2723 of JerusalemH3389: for the LORDH3068 hath comfortedH5162(H8765) his peopleH5971, he hath redeemedH1350(H8804) JerusalemH3389.
10 Yahweh has made his holy arm bare in the eyes of all the nations. All the ends of the earth have seen the salvation of our God.
KJVThe LORDH3068 hath made bareH2834(H8804) his holyH6944 armH2220 in the eyesH5869 of all the nationsH1471; and all the endsH657 of the earthH776 shall seeH7200(H8804) the salvationH3444 of our GodH430.
11 Depart! Depart! Go out from there! Touch no unclean thing! Go out from among her! Cleanse yourselves, you who carry Yahweh’s vessels.
KJVDepartH5493(H8798) ye, departH5493(H8798) ye, go ye outH3318(H8798) from thence, touchH5060(H8799) no uncleanH2931 thing; go ye outH3318(H8798) of the midstH8432 of her; be ye cleanH1305(H8734), that bearH5375(H8802) the vesselsH3627 of the LORDH3068.
12 For you shall not go out in haste, neither shall you go by flight; for Yahweh will go before you, and the God of Israel will be your rear guard.
KJVFor ye shall not go outH3318(H8799) with hasteH2649, nor goH3212(H8799) by flightH4499: for the LORDH3068 will goH1980(H8802) beforeH6440 you; and the GodH430 of IsraelH3478 will be your rerewardH622(H8764).
13 Behold, my servant will deal wisely. He will be exalted and lifted up, and will be very high.
KJVBehold, my servantH5650 shall deal prudentlyH7919(H8686), he shall be exaltedH7311(H8799) and extolledH5375(H8738), and be veryH3966 highH1361(H8804).
14 Just as many were astonished at you— his appearance was marred more than any man, and his form more than the sons of men—
KJVAs manyH7227 were astoniedH8074(H8804) at thee; his visageH4758 was so marredH4893 more than any manH376, and his formH8389 more than the sonsH1121 of menH120:
15 so he will cleanse many nations. Kings will shut their mouths at him; for they will see that which had not been told them, and they will understand that which they had not heard.
KJVSo shall he sprinkleH5137(H8686) manyH7227 nationsH1471; the kingsH4428 shall shutH7092(H8799) their mouthsH6310 at him: for that which had not been toldH5608(H8795) them shall they seeH7200(H8804); and that which they had not heardH8085(H8804) shall they considerH995(H8712).
