¹Now in the thirtieth year, in the fourth month, in the fifth day of the month, as I was among the captives by the river Chebar, the heavens were opened, and I saw visions of God.

² In the fifth of the month, which was the fifth year of King Jehoiachin’s captivity,

³ Yahweh’s word came to Ezekiel the priest, the son of Buzi, in the land of the Chaldeans by the river Chebar; and Yahweh’s hand was there on him.

KJVThe word^H1697 of the LORD^H3068 came expressly unto Ezekiel^H3168 the priest^H3548, the son^H1121 of Buzi^H941, in the land^H776 of the Chaldeans^H3778 by the river^H5104 Chebar^H3529; and the hand^H3027 of the LORD^H3068 was there upon him.

⁴ I looked, and behold, a stormy wind came out of the north: a great cloud, with flashing lightning, and a brightness around it, and out of the middle of it as it were glowing metal, out of the middle of the fire.

KJVAnd I looked^H7200^(H8799), and, behold, a whirlwind^H7307^H5591 came^H935^(H8802) out of the north^H6828, a great^H1419 cloud^H6051, and a fire^H784 infolding^H3947^(H8693) itself, and a brightness^H5051 was about^H5439 it, and out of the midst^H8432 thereof as the colour^H5869 of amber^H2830, out of the midst^H8432 of the fire^H784.

⁵ Out of its center came the likeness of four living creatures. This was their appearance: They had the likeness of a man.

KJVAlso out of the midst^H8432 thereof came the likeness^H1823 of four^H702 living creatures^H2416. And this was their appearance^H4758; they^H2007 had the likeness^H1823 of a man^H120.

⁶ Everyone had four faces, and each one of them had four wings.

KJVAnd every one^H259 had four^H702 faces^H6440, and every one^H259 had four^H702 wings^H3671.

⁷ Their feet were straight feet. The sole of their feet was like the sole of a calf’s foot; and they sparkled like burnished bronze.

KJVAnd their feet^H7272 were straight^H3477 feet^H7272; and the sole^H3709 of their feet^H7272 was like the sole^H3709 of a calf's^H5695 foot^H7272: and they sparkled^H5340^(H8802) like the colour^H5869 of burnished^H7044 brass^H5178.

⁸ They had the hands of a man under their wings on their four sides. The four of them had their faces and their wings like this:

KJVAnd they had the hands^H3027 of a man^H120 under their wings^H3671 on their four^H702 sides^H7253; and they four^H702 had their faces^H6440 and their wings^H3671.

⁹ Their wings were joined to one another. They didn’t turn when they went. Each one went straight forward.

KJVTheir wings^H3671 were joined^H2266^(H8802) one^H802 to another^H269; they turned^H5437^(H8735) not when they went^H3212^(H8800); they went^H3212^(H8799) every one^H376 straight^H5676 forward^H6440.

¹⁰ As for the likeness of their faces, they had the face of a man. The four of them had the face of a lion on the right side. The four of them had the face of an ox on the left side. The four of them also had the face of an eagle.

KJVAs for the likeness^H1823 of their faces^H6440, they four^H702 had the face^H6440 of a man^H120, and the face^H6440 of a lion^H738, on the right side^H3225: and they four^H702 had the face^H6440 of an ox^H7794 on the left side^H8040; they four^H702 also had the face^H6440 of an eagle^H5404.

¹¹ Such were their faces. Their wings were spread out above. Two wings of each one touched another, and two covered their bodies.

KJVThus were their faces^H6440: and their wings^H3671 were stretched^H6504^(H8803) upward^H4605; two^H8147 wings of every one^H376 were joined^H2266^(H8802) one^H376 to another^H376, and two^H8147 covered^H3680^(H8764) their bodies^H1472.

¹² Each one went straight forward. Where the spirit was to go, they went. They didn’t turn when they went.

KJVAnd they went^H3212^(H8799) every one^H376 straight^H5676 forward^H6440: whither the spirit^H7307 was to go^H3212^(H8800), they went^H3212^(H8799); and they turned^H5437^(H8735) not when they went^H3212^(H8800).

¹³ As for the likeness of the living creatures, their appearance was like burning coals of fire, like the appearance of torches. The fire went up and down among the living creatures. The fire was bright, and lightning went out of the fire.

KJVAs for the likeness^H1823 of the living creatures^H2416, their appearance^H4758 was like burning^H1197^(H8802) coals^H1513 of fire^H784, and like the appearance^H4758 of lamps^H3940: it went up and down^H1980^(H8693) among the living creatures^H2416; and the fire^H784 was bright^H5051, and out of the fire^H784 went forth^H3318^(H8802) lightning^H1300.

¹⁴ The living creatures ran and returned as the appearance of a flash of lightning.

KJVAnd the living creatures^H2416 ran^H7519^(H8800) and returned^H7725^(H8800) as the appearance^H4758 of a flash of lightning^H965.

¹⁵ Now as I saw the living creatures, behold, there was one wheel on the earth beside the living creatures, for each of the four faces of it.

KJVNow as I beheld^H7200^(H8799) the living creatures^H2416, behold one^H259 wheel^H212 upon the earth^H776 by^H681 the living creatures^H2416, with his four^H702 faces^H6440.

¹⁶ The appearance of the wheels and their work was like a beryl. The four of them had one likeness. Their appearance and their work was as it were a wheel within a wheel.

KJVThe appearance^H4758 of the wheels^H212 and their work^H4639 was like unto the colour^H5869 of a beryl^H8658: and they four^H702 had one^H259 likeness^H1823: and their appearance^H4758 and their work^H4639 was as it were a wheel^H212 in the middle^H8432 of a wheel^H212.

¹⁷ When they went, they went in their four directions. They didn’t turn when they went.

KJVWhen they went^H3212^(H8800), they went^H3212^(H8799) upon their four^H702 sides^H7253: and they turned^H5437^(H8735) not when they went^H3212^(H8800).

¹⁸ As for their rims, they were high and dreadful; and the four of them had their rims full of eyes all around.

KJVAs for their rings^H1354, they were so high^H1363 that they were dreadful^H3374; and their rings^H1354 were full^H4392 of eyes^H5869 round about^H5439 them four^H702.

¹⁹ When the living creatures went, the wheels went beside them. When the living creatures were lifted up from the earth, the wheels were lifted up.

KJVAnd when the living creatures^H2416 went^H3212^(H8800), the wheels^H212 went^H3212^(H8799) by them^H681: and when the living creatures^H2416 were lifted up^H5375^(H8736) from the earth^H776, the wheels^H212 were lifted up^H5375^(H8735).

²⁰ Wherever the spirit was to go, they went. The spirit was to go there. The wheels were lifted up beside them; for the spirit of the living creature was in the wheels.

KJVWhithersoever the spirit^H7307 was to go^H3212^(H8800), they went^H3212^(H8799), thither was their spirit^H7307 to go^H3212^(H8800); and the wheels^H212 were lifted up^H5375^(H8735) over against^H5980 them: for the spirit^H7307 of the living creature^H2416 was in the wheels^H212.

²¹ When those went, these went. When those stood, these stood. When those were lifted up from the earth, the wheels were lifted up beside them; for the spirit of the living creature was in the wheels.

KJVWhen those went^H3212^(H8800), these went^H3212^(H8799); and when those stood^H5975^(H8800), these stood^H5975^(H8799); and when those were lifted up^H5375^(H8736) from the earth^H776, the wheels^H212 were lifted up^H5375^(H8735) over against^H5980 them: for the spirit^H7307 of the living creature^H2416 was in the wheels^H212.

²² Over the head of the living creature there was the likeness of an expanse, like an awesome crystal to look at, stretched out over their heads above.

KJVAnd the likeness^H1823 of the firmament^H7549 upon the heads^H7218 of the living creature^H2416 was as the colour^H5869 of the terrible^H3372^(H8737) crystal^H7140, stretched forth^H5186^(H8803) over their heads^H7218 above^H4605.

²³ Under the expanse, their wings were straight, one toward the other. Each one had two which covered on this side, and each one had two which covered their bodies on that side.

KJVAnd under the firmament^H7549 were their wings^H3671 straight^H3477, the one^H802 toward the other^H269: every one^H376 had two^H8147, which covered^H3680^(H8764) on this side^H2007, and every one^H376 had two^H8147, which covered^H3680^(H8764) on that side^H2007, their bodies^H1472.

²⁴ When they went, I heard the noise of their wings like the noise of great waters, like the voice of the Almighty, a noise of tumult like the noise of an army. When they stood, they let down their wings.

²⁵ There was a voice above the expanse that was over their heads. When they stood, they let down their wings.

KJVAnd there was a voice^H6963 from the firmament^H7549 that was over their heads^H7218, when they stood^H5975^(H8800), and had let down^H7503^(H8762) their wings^H3671.

²⁶ Above the expanse that was over their heads was the likeness of a throne, as the appearance of a sapphire stone. On the likeness of the throne was a likeness as the appearance of a man on it above.

KJVAnd above^H4605 the firmament^H7549 that was over their heads^H7218 was the likeness^H1823 of a throne^H3678, as the appearance^H4758 of a sapphire^H5601 stone^H68: and upon the likeness^H1823 of the throne^H3678 was the likeness^H1823 as the appearance^H4758 of a man^H120 above^H4605 upon it.

²⁷ I saw as it were glowing metal, as the appearance of fire within it all around, from the appearance of his waist and upward; and from the appearance of his waist and downward I saw as it were the appearance of fire, and there was brightness around him.

²⁸ As the appearance of the rainbow that is in the cloud in the day of rain, so was the appearance of the brightness all around. This was the appearance of the likeness of Yahweh’s glory. When I saw it, I fell on my face, and I heard a voice of one that spoke.

¹Remember, Yahweh, what has come on us. Look, and see our reproach.

⁵ Our pursuers are on our necks. We are weary, and have no rest.

⁶ We have given our hands to the Egyptians, and to the Assyrians, to be satisfied with bread.

⁷ Our fathers sinned, and are no more. We have borne their iniquities.

⁸ Servants rule over us. There is no one to deliver us out of their hand.

⁹ We get our bread at the peril of our lives, because of the sword in the wilderness.

¹⁰ Our skin is black like an oven, because of the burning heat of famine.

¹¹ They ravished the women in Zion, the virgins in the cities of Judah.

¹⁹ You, Yahweh, remain forever. Your throne is from generation to generation.

²⁰ Why do you forget us forever, and forsake us for so long a time?

²¹ Turn us to yourself, Yahweh, and we will be turned. Renew our days as of old.

²² But you have utterly rejected us. You are very angry against us.
