¹Yahweh’s word came to me, saying,

KJVAnd the word^H1697 of the LORD^H3068 came unto me, saying^H559^(H8800),

² “Son of man, set your face toward the mountains of Israel, and prophesy to them,

KJVSon^H1121 of man^H120, set^H7760^(H8798) thy face^H6440 toward the mountains^H2022 of Israel^H3478, and prophesy^H5012^(H8734) against them,

³ and say, ‘You mountains of Israel, hear the word of the Lord Yahweh! The Lord Yahweh says to the mountains and to the hills, to the watercourses and to the valleys: “Behold, I, even I, will bring a sword on you, and I will destroy your high places.

KJVAnd say^H559^(H8804), Ye mountains^H2022 of Israel^H3478, hear^H8085^(H8798) the word^H1697 of the Lord^H136 GOD^H3069; Thus saith^H559^(H8804) the Lord^H136 GOD^H3069 to the mountains^H2022, and to the hills^H1389, to the rivers^H650, and to the valleys^H1516; Behold, I, even I, will bring^H935^(H8688) a sword^H2719 upon you, and I will destroy^H6^(H8765) your high places^H1116.

⁴ Your altars will become desolate, and your incense altars will be broken. I will cast down your slain men before your idols.

KJVAnd your altars^H4196 shall be desolate^H8074^(H8738), and your images^H2553 shall be broken^H7665^(H8738): and I will cast down^H5307^(H8689) your slain^H2491 men before^H6440 your idols^H1544.

⁵ I will lay the dead bodies of the children of Israel before their idols. I will scatter your bones around your altars.

KJVAnd I will lay^H5414^(H8804) the dead carcases^H6297 of the children^H1121 of Israel^H3478 before^H6440 their idols^H1544; and I will scatter^H2219^(H8765) your bones^H6106 round about^H5439 your altars^H4196.

⁶ In all your dwelling places, the cities will be laid waste and the high places will be desolate, so that your altars may be laid waste and made desolate, and your idols may be broken and cease, and your incense altars may be cut down, and your works may be abolished.

⁷ The slain will fall among you, and you will know that I am Yahweh.

⁸ “‘“Yet I will leave a remnant, in that you will have some that escape the sword among the nations, when you are scattered through the countries.

KJVYet will I leave a remnant^H3498^(H8689), that ye may have some that shall escape^H6412 the sword^H2719 among the nations^H1471, when ye shall be scattered^H2219^(H8736) through the countries^H776.

⁹ Those of you that escape will remember me among the nations where they are carried captive, how I have been broken with their lewd heart, which has departed from me, and with their eyes, which play the prostitute after their idols. Then they will loathe themselves in their own sight for the evils which they have committed in all their abominations.

¹⁰ They will know that I am Yahweh. I have not said in vain that I would do this evil to them.”’

KJVAnd they shall know^H3045^(H8804) that I am the LORD^H3068, and that I have not said^H1696^(H8765) in vain^H2600 that I would do^H6213^(H8800) this evil^H7451 unto them.

¹¹ “The Lord Yahweh says: ‘Strike with your hand, and stamp with your foot, and say, “Alas!”, because of all the evil abominations of the house of Israel; for they will fall by the sword, by the famine, and by the pestilence.

KJVThus saith^H559^(H8804) the Lord^H136 GOD^H3069; Smite^H5221^(H8685) with thine hand^H3709, and stamp^H7554^(H8798) with thy foot^H7272, and say^H559^(H8798), Alas^H253 for all the evil^H7451 abominations^H8441 of the house^H1004 of Israel^H3478! for they shall fall^H5307^(H8799) by the sword^H2719, by the famine^H7458, and by the pestilence^H1698.

¹² He who is far off will die of the pestilence. He who is near will fall by the sword. He who remains and is besieged will die by the famine. Thus I will accomplish my wrath on them.

KJVHe that is far off^H7350 shall die^H4191^(H8799) of the pestilence^H1698; and he that is near^H7138 shall fall^H5307^(H8799) by the sword^H2719; and he that remaineth^H7604^(H8737) and is besieged^H5341^(H8803) shall die^H4191^(H8799) by the famine^H7458: thus will I accomplish^H3615^(H8765) my fury^H2534 upon them.

¹³ You will know that I am Yahweh when their slain men are among their idols around their altars, on every high hill, on all the tops of the mountains, under every green tree, and under every thick oak—the places where they offered pleasant aroma to all their idols.

KJVThen shall ye know^H3045^(H8804) that I am the LORD^H3068, when their slain^H2491 men shall be among^H8432 their idols^H1544 round about^H5439 their altars^H4196, upon every high^H7311^(H8802) hill^H1389, in all the tops^H7218 of the mountains^H2022, and under every green^H7488 tree^H6086, and under every thick^H5687 oak^H424, the place^H4725 where they did offer^H5414^(H8804) sweet^H5207 savour^H7381 to all their idols^H1544.

¹⁴ I will stretch out my hand on them and make the land desolate and waste, from the wilderness toward Diblah, throughout all their habitations. Then they will know that I am Yahweh.’”

KJVSo will I stretch out^H5186^(H8804) my hand^H3027 upon them, and make^H5414^(H8804) the land^H776 desolate^H8077, yea, more desolate^H4923 than the wilderness^H4057 toward Diblath^H1689, in all their habitations^H4186: and they shall know^H3045^(H8804) that I am the LORD^H3068.

¹“You, son of man, take a sharp sword. You shall take it as a barber’s razor to yourself, and shall cause it to pass over your head and over your beard. Then take balances to weigh and divide the hair.

² A third part you shall burn in the fire in the middle of the city, when the days of the siege are fulfilled. You shall take a third part, and strike with the sword around it. A third part you shall scatter to the wind, and I will draw out a sword after them.

³ You shall take a small number of these and bind them in the folds of your robe.

⁴ Of these again you shall take, and cast them into the middle of the fire, and burn them in the fire. From it a fire will come out into all the house of Israel.

⁵ “The Lord Yahweh says: ‘This is Jerusalem. I have set her in the middle of the nations, and countries are around her.

KJVThus saith^H559^(H8804) the Lord^H136 GOD^H3069; This is Jerusalem^H3389: I have set^H7760^(H8804) it in the midst^H8432 of the nations^H1471 and countries^H776 that are round about^H5439 her.

⁶ She has rebelled against my ordinances in doing wickedness more than the nations, and against my statutes more than the countries that are around her; for they have rejected my ordinances, and as for my statutes, they have not walked in them.’

KJVAnd she hath changed^H4784^(H8686) my judgments^H4941 into wickedness^H7564 more than the nations^H1471, and my statutes^H2708 more than the countries^H776 that are round about^H5439 her: for they have refused^H3988^(H8804) my judgments^H4941 and my statutes^H2708, they have not walked^H1980^(H8804) in them.

⁷ “Therefore the Lord Yahweh says: ‘Because you are more turbulent than the nations that are around you, and have not walked in my statutes, neither have kept my ordinances, neither have followed the ordinances of the nations that are around you;

KJVTherefore thus saith^H559^(H8804) the Lord^H136 GOD^H3069; Because ye multiplied^H1995^(H8800) more than the nations^H1471 that are round about^H5439 you, and have not walked^H1980^(H8804) in my statutes^H2708, neither have kept^H6213^(H8804) my judgments^H4941, neither have done^H6213^(H8804) according to the judgments^H4941 of the nations^H1471 that are round about^H5439 you;

⁸ therefore the Lord Yahweh says: ‘Behold, I, even I, am against you; and I will execute judgments among you in the sight of the nations.

KJVTherefore thus saith^H559^(H8804) the Lord^H136 GOD^H3069; Behold, I, even I, am against thee, and will execute^H6213^(H8804) judgments^H4941 in the midst^H8432 of thee in the sight^H5869 of the nations^H1471.

⁹ I will do in you that which I have not done, and which I will not do anything like it any more, because of all your abominations.

KJVAnd I will do^H6213^(H8804) in thee that which I have not done^H6213^(H8804), and whereunto I will not do^H6213^(H8799) any more the like, because^H3282 of all thine abominations^H8441.

¹⁰ Therefore the fathers will eat the sons within you, and the sons will eat their fathers. I will execute judgments on you; and I will scatter the whole remnant of you to all the winds.

¹¹ Therefore as I live,’ says the Lord Yahweh, ‘surely, because you have defiled my sanctuary with all your detestable things, and with all your abominations, therefore I will also diminish you. My eye won’t spare, and I will have no pity.

¹² A third part of you will die with the pestilence, and they will be consumed with famine within you. A third part will fall by the sword around you. A third part I will scatter to all the winds, and will draw out a sword after them.

¹³ “‘Thus my anger will be accomplished, and I will cause my wrath toward them to rest, and I will be comforted. They will know that I, Yahweh, have spoken in my zeal, when I have accomplished my wrath on them.

¹⁴ “‘Moreover I will make you a desolation and a reproach among the nations that are around you, in the sight of all that pass by.

¹⁵ So it will be a reproach and a taunt, an instruction and an astonishment, to the nations that are around you, when I execute judgments on you in anger and in wrath, and in wrathful rebukes—I, Yahweh, have spoken it—

¹⁶ when I send on them the evil arrows of famine that are for destruction, which I will send to destroy you. I will increase the famine on you and will break your staff of bread.

¹⁷ I will send on you famine and evil animals, and they will bereave you. Pestilence and blood will pass through you. I will bring the sword on you. I, Yahweh, have spoken it.’”
