¹Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying,

² “Speak to Aaron, and to his sons, and to all the children of Israel, and say to them, ‘This is the thing which Yahweh has commanded:

³ Whatever man there is of the house of Israel who kills a bull, or lamb, or goat in the camp, or who kills it outside the camp,

⁴ and hasn’t brought it to the door of the Tent of Meeting to offer it as an offering to Yahweh before Yahweh’s tabernacle: blood shall be imputed to that man. He has shed blood. That man shall be cut off from among his people.

KJVAnd bringeth^H935^(H8689) it not unto the door^H6607 of the tabernacle^H168 of the congregation^H4150, to offer^H7126^(H8687) an offering^H7133 unto the LORD^H3068 before^H6440 the tabernacle^H4908 of the LORD^H3068; blood^H1818 shall be imputed^H2803^(H8735) unto that man^H376; he hath shed^H8210^(H8804) blood^H1818; and that man^H376 shall be cut off^H3772^(H8738) from among^H7130 his people^H5971:

⁵ This is to the end that the children of Israel may bring their sacrifices, which they sacrifice in the open field, that they may bring them to Yahweh, to the door of the Tent of Meeting, to the priest, and sacrifice them for sacrifices of peace offerings to Yahweh.

⁶ The priest shall sprinkle the blood on Yahweh’s altar at the door of the Tent of Meeting, and burn the fat for a pleasant aroma to Yahweh.

KJVAnd the priest^H3548 shall sprinkle^H2236^(H8804) the blood^H1818 upon the altar^H4196 of the LORD^H3068 at the door^H6607 of the tabernacle^H168 of the congregation^H4150, and burn^H6999^(H8689) the fat^H2459 for a sweet^H5207 savour^H7381 unto the LORD^H3068.

⁷ They shall no more sacrifice their sacrifices to the goat idols, after which they play the prostitute. This shall be a statute forever to them throughout their generations.’

⁸ “You shall say to them, ‘Any man there is of the house of Israel, or of the strangers who live as foreigners among them, who offers a burnt offering or sacrifice,

⁹ and doesn’t bring it to the door of the Tent of Meeting to sacrifice it to Yahweh, that man shall be cut off from his people.

KJVAnd bringeth^H935^(H8686) it not unto the door^H6607 of the tabernacle^H168 of the congregation^H4150, to offer^H6213^(H8800) it unto the LORD^H3068; even that man^H376 shall be cut off^H3772^(H8738) from among his people^H5971.

¹⁰ “‘Any man of the house of Israel, or of the strangers who live as foreigners among them, who eats any kind of blood, I will set my face against that soul who eats blood, and will cut him off from among his people.

KJVAnd whatsoever man^H376 there be of the house^H1004 of Israel^H3478, or of the strangers^H1616 that sojourn^H1481^(H8802) among^H8432 you, that eateth^H398^(H8799) any manner of blood^H1818; I will even set^H5414^(H8804) my face^H6440 against that soul^H5315 that eateth^H398^(H8802) blood^H1818, and will cut him off^H3772^(H8689) from among^H7130 his people^H5971.

¹¹ For the life of the flesh is in the blood. I have given it to you on the altar to make atonement for your souls; for it is the blood that makes atonement by reason of the life.

KJVFor the life^H5315 of the flesh^H1320 is in the blood^H1818: and I have given^H5414^(H8804) it to you upon the altar^H4196 to make an atonement^H3722^(H8763) for your souls^H5315: for it is the blood^H1818 that maketh an atonement^H3722^(H8762) for the soul^H5315.

¹² Therefore I have said to the children of Israel, “No person among you may eat blood, nor may any stranger who lives as a foreigner among you eat blood.”

¹³ “‘Whatever man there is of the children of Israel, or of the strangers who live as foreigners among them, who takes in hunting any animal or bird that may be eaten, he shall pour out its blood, and cover it with dust.

KJVAnd whatsoever man^H376 there be of the children^H1121 of Israel^H3478, or of the strangers^H1616 that sojourn^H1481^(H8802) among^H8432 you, which hunteth^H6679^(H8799) and catcheth^H6718 any beast^H2416 or fowl^H5775 that may be eaten^H398^(H8735); he shall even pour^H8210^(H8804) out the blood^H1818 thereof, and cover^H3680^(H8765) it with dust^H6083.

¹⁴ For as to the life of all flesh, its blood is with its life. Therefore I said to the children of Israel, “You shall not eat the blood of any kind of flesh; for the life of all flesh is its blood. Whoever eats it shall be cut off.”

¹⁵ “‘Every person that eats what dies of itself, or that which is torn by animals, whether he is native-born or a foreigner, shall wash his clothes, and bathe himself in water, and be unclean until the evening. Then he shall be clean.

¹⁶ But if he doesn’t wash them, or bathe his flesh, then he shall bear his iniquity.’”

¹Yahweh spoke to Moses after the death of the two sons of Aaron, when they came near before Yahweh, and died;

² and Yahweh said to Moses, “Tell Aaron your brother not to come at just any time into the Most Holy Place within the veil, before the mercy seat which is on the ark; lest he die; for I will appear in the cloud on the mercy seat.

³ “Aaron shall come into the sanctuary with a young bull for a sin offering, and a ram for a burnt offering.

KJVThus^H2063 shall Aaron^H175 come^H935^(H8799) into the holy^H6944 place: with a young^H1121^H1241 bullock^H6499 for a sin offering^H2403, and a ram^H352 for a burnt offering^H5930.

⁴ He shall put on the holy linen tunic. He shall have the linen trousers on his body, and shall put on the linen sash, and he shall be clothed with the linen turban. They are the holy garments. He shall bathe his body in water, and put them on.

KJVHe shall put on^H3847^(H8799) the holy^H6944 linen^H906 coat^H3801, and he shall have the linen^H906 breeches^H4370 upon his flesh^H1320, and shall be girded^H2296^(H8799) with a linen^H906 girdle^H73, and with the linen^H906 mitre^H4701 shall he be attired^H6801^(H8799): these^H1992 are holy^H6944 garments^H899; therefore shall he wash^H7364^(H8804) his flesh^H1320 in water^H4325, and so put them on^H3847^(H8804).

⁵ He shall take from the congregation of the children of Israel two male goats for a sin offering, and one ram for a burnt offering.

⁶ “Aaron shall offer the bull of the sin offering, which is for himself, and make atonement for himself and for his house.

KJVAnd Aaron^H175 shall offer^H7126^(H8689) his bullock^H6499 of the sin offering^H2403, which is for himself^H1157, and make an atonement^H3722^(H8765) for himself, and for his house^H1004.

⁷ He shall take the two goats, and set them before Yahweh at the door of the Tent of Meeting.

KJVAnd he shall take^H3947^(H8804) the two^H8147 goats^H8163, and present^H5975^(H8689) them before^H6440 the LORD^H3068 at the door^H6607 of the tabernacle^H168 of the congregation^H4150.

⁸ Aaron shall cast lots for the two goats: one lot for Yahweh, and the other lot for the scapegoat.

KJVAnd Aaron^H175 shall cast^H5414^(H8804) lots^H1486 upon the two^H8147 goats^H8163; one^H259 lot^H1486 for the LORD^H3068, and the other^H259 lot^H1486 for the scapegoat^H5799.

⁹ Aaron shall present the goat on which the lot fell for Yahweh, and offer him for a sin offering.

KJVAnd Aaron^H175 shall bring^H7126^(H8689) the goat^H8163 upon which the LORD'S^H3068 lot^H1486 fell^H5927^(H8804), and offer^H6213^(H8804) him for a sin offering^H2403.

¹⁰ But the goat on which the lot fell for the scapegoat shall be presented alive before Yahweh, to make atonement for him, to send him away as the scapegoat into the wilderness.

KJVBut the goat^H8163, on which the lot^H1486 fell^H5927^(H8804) to be the scapegoat^H5799, shall be presented^H5975^(H8714) alive^H2416 before^H6440 the LORD^H3068, to make an atonement^H3722^(H8763) with him, and to let him go^H7971^(H8763) for a scapegoat^H5799 into the wilderness^H4057.

¹¹ “Aaron shall present the bull of the sin offering, which is for himself, and shall make atonement for himself and for his house, and shall kill the bull of the sin offering which is for himself.

KJVAnd Aaron^H175 shall bring^H7126^(H8689) the bullock^H6499 of the sin offering^H2403, which is for himself, and shall make an atonement^H3722^(H8765) for himself, and for his house^H1004, and shall kill^H7819^(H8804) the bullock^H6499 of the sin offering^H2403 which is for himself:

¹² He shall take a censer full of coals of fire from off the altar before Yahweh, and two handfuls of sweet incense beaten small, and bring it within the veil.

¹³ He shall put the incense on the fire before Yahweh, that the cloud of the incense may cover the mercy seat that is on the covenant, so that he will not die.

¹⁴ He shall take some of the blood of the bull, and sprinkle it with his finger on the mercy seat on the east; and before the mercy seat he shall sprinkle some of the blood with his finger seven times.

¹⁵ “Then he shall kill the goat of the sin offering that is for the people, and bring his blood within the veil, and do with his blood as he did with the blood of the bull, and sprinkle it on the mercy seat and before the mercy seat.

¹⁶ He shall make atonement for the Holy Place, because of the uncleanness of the children of Israel, and because of their transgressions, even all their sins; and so he shall do for the Tent of Meeting that dwells with them in the middle of their uncleanness.

¹⁷ No one shall be in the Tent of Meeting when he enters to make atonement in the Holy Place, until he comes out, and has made atonement for himself and for his household, and for all the assembly of Israel.

KJVAnd there shall be no man^H120 in the tabernacle^H168 of the congregation^H4150 when he goeth^H935^(H8800) in to make an atonement^H3722^(H8763) in the holy^H6944 place, until he come out^H3318^(H8800), and have made an atonement^H3722^(H8765) for himself, and for his household^H1004, and for all the congregation^H6951 of Israel^H3478.

¹⁸ “He shall go out to the altar that is before Yahweh and make atonement for it, and shall take some of the bull’s blood, and some of the goat’s blood, and put it around on the horns of the altar.

KJVAnd he shall go out^H3318^(H8804) unto the altar^H4196 that is before^H6440 the LORD^H3068, and make an atonement^H3722^(H8765) for it; and shall take^H3947^(H8804) of the blood^H1818 of the bullock^H6499, and of the blood^H1818 of the goat^H8163, and put^H5414^(H8804) it upon the horns^H7161 of the altar^H4196 round about^H5439.

¹⁹ He shall sprinkle some of the blood on it with his finger seven times, and cleanse it, and make it holy from the uncleanness of the children of Israel.

²⁰ “When he has finished atoning for the Holy Place, the Tent of Meeting, and the altar, he shall present the live goat.

KJVAnd when he hath made an end^H3615^(H8765) of reconciling^H3722^(H8763) the holy^H6944 place, and the tabernacle^H168 of the congregation^H4150, and the altar^H4196, he shall bring^H7126^(H8689) the live^H2416 goat^H8163:

²¹ Aaron shall lay both his hands on the head of the live goat, and confess over him all the iniquities of the children of Israel, and all their transgressions, even all their sins; and he shall put them on the head of the goat, and shall send him away into the wilderness by the hand of a man who is ready.

²³ “Aaron shall come into the Tent of Meeting, and shall take off the linen garments which he put on when he went into the Holy Place, and shall leave them there.

²⁴ Then he shall bathe himself in water in a holy place, put on his garments, and come out and offer his burnt offering and the burnt offering of the people, and make atonement for himself and for the people.

KJVAnd he shall wash^H7364^(H8804) his flesh^H1320 with water^H4325 in the holy^H6918 place^H4725, and put on^H3847^(H8804) his garments^H899, and come forth^H3318^(H8804), and offer^H6213^(H8804) his burnt offering^H5930, and the burnt offering^H5930 of the people^H5971, and make an atonement^H3722^(H8765) for himself, and for the people^H5971.

²⁵ The fat of the sin offering he shall burn on the altar.

KJVAnd the fat^H2459 of the sin offering^H2403 shall he burn^H6999^(H8686) upon the altar^H4196.

²⁶ “He who lets the goat go as the scapegoat shall wash his clothes, and bathe his flesh in water, and afterward he shall come into the camp.

KJVAnd he that let go^H7971^(H8764) the goat^H8163 for the scapegoat^H5799 shall wash^H3526^(H8762) his clothes^H899, and bathe^H7364^(H8804) his flesh^H1320 in water^H4325, and afterward^H310 come^H935^(H8799) into the camp^H4264.

²⁷ The bull for the sin offering, and the goat for the sin offering, whose blood was brought in to make atonement in the Holy Place, shall be carried outside the camp; and they shall burn their skins, their flesh, and their dung with fire.

KJVAnd the bullock^H6499 for the sin offering^H2403, and the goat^H8163 for the sin offering^H2403, whose blood^H1818 was brought in^H935^(H8717) to make atonement^H3722^(H8763) in the holy^H6944 place, shall one carry forth^H3318^(H8686) without^H2351 the camp^H4264; and they shall burn^H8313^(H8804) in the fire^H784 their skins^H5785, and their flesh^H1320, and their dung^H6569.

²⁸ He who burns them shall wash his clothes, and bathe his flesh in water, and afterward he shall come into the camp.

²⁹ “It shall be a statute to you forever: in the seventh month, on the tenth day of the month, you shall afflict your souls, and shall do no kind of work, whether native-born or a stranger who lives as a foreigner among you;

KJVAnd this shall be a statute^H2708 for ever^H5769 unto you: that in the seventh^H7637 month^H2320, on the tenth^H6218 day of the month^H2320, ye shall afflict^H6031^(H8762) your souls^H5315, and do^H6213^(H8799) no work^H4399 at all, whether it be one of your own country^H249, or a stranger^H1616 that sojourneth^H1481^(H8802) among^H8432 you:

³⁰ for on this day shall atonement be made for you, to cleanse you. You shall be clean from all your sins before Yahweh.

KJVFor on that day^H3117 shall the priest make an atonement^H3722^(H8762) for you, to cleanse^H2891^(H8763) you, that ye may be clean^H2891^(H8799) from all your sins^H2403 before^H6440 the LORD^H3068.

³¹ It is a Sabbath of solemn rest to you, and you shall afflict your souls. It is a statute forever.

KJVIt shall be a sabbath^H7676 of rest^H7677 unto you, and ye shall afflict^H6031^(H8765) your souls^H5315, by a statute^H2708 for ever^H5769.

³² The priest, who is anointed and who is consecrated to be priest in his father’s place, shall make the atonement, and shall put on the linen garments, even the holy garments.

KJVAnd the priest^H3548, whom he shall anoint^H4886^(H8799), and whom he shall consecrate^H4390^(H8762)^H3027 to minister in the priest's office^H3547^(H8763) in his father's^H1 stead, shall make the atonement^H3722^(H8765), and shall put on^H3847^(H8804) the linen^H906 clothes^H899, even the holy^H6944 garments^H899:

³³ Then he shall make atonement for the Holy Sanctuary; and he shall make atonement for the Tent of Meeting and for the altar; and he shall make atonement for the priests and for all the people of the assembly.

KJVAnd he shall make an atonement^H3722^(H8765) for the holy^H6944 sanctuary^H4720, and he shall make an atonement^H3722^(H8762) for the tabernacle^H168 of the congregation^H4150, and for the altar^H4196, and he shall make an atonement^H3722^(H8762) for the priests^H3548, and for all the people^H5971 of the congregation^H6951.

³⁴ “This shall be an everlasting statute for you, to make atonement for the children of Israel once in the year because of all their sins.” It was done as Yahweh commanded Moses.

KJVAnd this shall be an everlasting^H5769 statute^H2708 unto you, to make an atonement^H3722^(H8763) for the children^H1121 of Israel^H3478 for all their sins^H2403 once^H259 a year^H8141. And he did^H6213^(H8799) as the LORD^H3068 commanded^H6680^(H8765) Moses^H4872.
