¹Nadab and Abihu, the sons of Aaron, each took his censer, and put fire in it, and laid incense on it, and offered strange fire before Yahweh, which he had not commanded them.

² Fire came out from before Yahweh, and devoured them, and they died before Yahweh.

KJVAnd there went out^H3318^(H8799) fire^H784 from the LORD^H3068, and devoured^H398^(H8799) them, and they died^H4191^(H8799) before^H6440 the LORD^H3068.

³ Then Moses said to Aaron, “This is what Yahweh spoke of, saying, ‘I will show myself holy to those who come near me, and before all the people I will be glorified.’” Aaron held his peace.

⁴ Moses called Mishael and Elzaphan, the sons of Uzziel the uncle of Aaron, and said to them, “Draw near, carry your brothers from before the sanctuary out of the camp.”

⁵ So they came near, and carried them in their tunics out of the camp, as Moses had said.

⁶ Moses said to Aaron, and to Eleazar and to Ithamar, his sons, “Don’t let the hair of your heads go loose, and don’t tear your clothes, so that you don’t die, and so that he will not be angry with all the congregation; but let your brothers, the whole house of Israel, bewail the burning which Yahweh has kindled.

⁷ You shall not go out from the door of the Tent of Meeting, lest you die; for the anointing oil of Yahweh is on you.” They did according to the word of Moses.

⁸ Then Yahweh said to Aaron,

⁹ “You and your sons are not to drink wine or strong drink whenever you go into the Tent of Meeting, or you will die. This shall be a statute forever throughout your generations.

KJVDo not drink^H8354^(H8799) wine^H3196 nor strong drink^H7941, thou, nor thy sons^H1121 with thee, when ye go^H935^(H8800) into the tabernacle^H168 of the congregation^H4150, lest ye die^H4191^(H8799): it shall be a statute^H2708 for ever^H5769 throughout your generations^H1755:

¹⁰ You are to make a distinction between the holy and the common, and between the unclean and the clean.

KJVAnd that ye may put difference^H914^(H8687) between holy^H6944 and unholy^H2455, and between unclean^H2931 and clean^H2889;

¹¹ You are to teach the children of Israel all the statutes which Yahweh has spoken to them by Moses.”

¹² Moses spoke to Aaron, and to Eleazar and to Ithamar, his sons who were left, “Take the meal offering that remains of the offerings of Yahweh made by fire, and eat it without yeast beside the altar; for it is most holy;

KJVAnd Moses^H4872 spake^H1696^(H8762) unto Aaron^H175, and unto Eleazar^H499 and unto Ithamar^H385, his sons^H1121 that were left^H3498^(H8737), Take^H3947^(H8798) the meat offering^H4503 that remaineth^H3498^(H8737) of the offerings^H801 of the LORD^H3068 made by fire^H801, and eat^H398^(H8798) it without leaven^H4682 beside^H681 the altar^H4196: for it is most^H6944 holy^H6944:

¹³ and you shall eat it in a holy place, because it is your portion, and your sons’ portion, of the offerings of Yahweh made by fire; for so I am commanded.

¹⁴ The waved breast and the heaved thigh you shall eat in a clean place, you, and your sons, and your daughters with you: for they are given as your portion, and your sons’ portion, out of the sacrifices of the peace offerings of the children of Israel.

¹⁵ They shall bring the heaved thigh and the waved breast with the offerings made by fire of the fat, to wave it for a wave offering before Yahweh. It shall be yours, and your sons’ with you, as a portion forever, as Yahweh has commanded.”

¹⁶ Moses diligently inquired about the goat of the sin offering, and, behold, it was burned. He was angry with Eleazar and with Ithamar, the sons of Aaron who were left, saying,

KJVAnd Moses^H4872 diligently^H1875^(H8800) sought^H1875^(H8804) the goat^H8163 of the sin offering^H2403, and, behold, it was burnt^H8313^(H8795): and he was angry^H7107^(H8799) with Eleazar^H499 and Ithamar^H385, the sons^H1121 of Aaron^H175 which were left^H3498^(H8737) alive, saying^H559^(H8800),

¹⁷ “Why haven’t you eaten the sin offering in the place of the sanctuary, since it is most holy, and he has given it to you to bear the iniquity of the congregation, to make atonement for them before Yahweh?

KJVWherefore have ye not eaten^H398^(H8804) the sin offering^H2403 in the holy^H6944 place^H4725, seeing it is most^H6944 holy^H6944, and God hath given^H5414^(H8804) it you to bear^H5375^(H8800) the iniquity^H5771 of the congregation^H5712, to make atonement^H3722^(H8763) for them before^H6440 the LORD^H3068?

¹⁸ Behold, its blood was not brought into the inner part of the sanctuary. You certainly should have eaten it in the sanctuary, as I commanded.”

¹⁹ Aaron spoke to Moses, “Behold, today they have offered their sin offering and their burnt offering before Yahweh; and such things as these have happened to me. If I had eaten the sin offering today, would it have been pleasing in Yahweh’s sight?”

KJVAnd Aaron^H175 said^H1696^(H8762) unto Moses^H4872, Behold, this day^H3117 have they offered^H7126^(H8689) their sin offering^H2403 and their burnt offering^H5930 before^H6440 the LORD^H3068; and such things have befallen^H7122^(H8799) me: and if I had eaten^H398^(H8804) the sin offering^H2403 to day^H3117, should it have been accepted^H3190^(H8799) in the sight^H5869 of the LORD^H3068?

²⁰ When Moses heard that, it was pleasing in his sight.

¹On the eighth day, Moses called Aaron and his sons, and the elders of Israel;

² and he said to Aaron, “Take a calf from the herd for a sin offering, and a ram for a burnt offering, without defect, and offer them before Yahweh.

KJVAnd he said^H559^(H8799) unto Aaron^H175, Take^H3947^(H8798) thee a young^H1241^H1121 calf^H5695 for a sin offering^H2403, and a ram^H352 for a burnt offering^H5930, without blemish^H8549, and offer^H7126^(H8685) them before^H6440 the LORD^H3068.

³ You shall speak to the children of Israel, saying, ‘Take a male goat for a sin offering; and a calf and a lamb, both a year old, without defect, for a burnt offering;

KJVAnd unto the children^H1121 of Israel^H3478 thou shalt speak^H1696^(H8762), saying^H559^(H8800), Take^H3947^(H8798) ye a kid^H8163 of the goats^H5795 for a sin offering^H2403; and a calf^H5695 and a lamb^H3532, both of the first^H1121 year^H8141, without blemish^H8549, for a burnt offering^H5930;

⁴ and a bull and a ram for peace offerings, to sacrifice before Yahweh; and a meal offering mixed with oil: for today Yahweh appears to you.’”

KJVAlso a bullock^H7794 and a ram^H352 for peace offerings^H8002, to sacrifice^H2076^(H8800) before^H6440 the LORD^H3068; and a meat offering^H4503 mingled^H1101^(H8803) with oil^H8081: for to day^H3117 the LORD^H3068 will appear^H7200^(H8738) unto you.

⁵ They brought what Moses commanded before the Tent of Meeting. All the congregation came near and stood before Yahweh.

KJVAnd they brought^H3947^(H8799) that which Moses^H4872 commanded^H6680^(H8765) before^H6440 the tabernacle^H168 of the congregation^H4150: and all the congregation^H5712 drew near^H7126^(H8799) and stood^H5975^(H8799) before^H6440 the LORD^H3068.

⁶ Moses said, “This is the thing which Yahweh commanded that you should do; and Yahweh’s glory shall appear to you.”

KJVAnd Moses^H4872 said^H559^(H8799), This is the thing^H1697 which the LORD^H3068 commanded^H6680^(H8765) that ye should do^H6213^(H8799): and the glory^H3519 of the LORD^H3068 shall appear^H7200^(H8735) unto you.

⁷ Moses said to Aaron, “Draw near to the altar, and offer your sin offering, and your burnt offering, and make atonement for yourself, and for the people; and offer the offering of the people, and make atonement for them, as Yahweh commanded.”

KJVAnd Moses^H4872 said^H559^(H8799) unto Aaron^H175, Go^H7126^(H8798) unto the altar^H4196, and offer^H6213^(H8798) thy sin offering^H2403, and thy burnt offering^H5930, and make an atonement^H3722^(H8761) for thyself, and for the people^H5971: and offer^H6213^(H8798) the offering^H7133 of the people^H5971, and make an atonement^H3722^(H8761) for them; as the LORD^H3068 commanded^H6680^(H8765).

⁸ So Aaron came near to the altar, and killed the calf of the sin offering, which was for himself.

KJVAaron^H175 therefore went^H7126^(H8799) unto the altar^H4196, and slew^H7819^(H8799) the calf^H5695 of the sin offering^H2403, which was for himself.

⁹ The sons of Aaron presented the blood to him; and he dipped his finger in the blood, and put it on the horns of the altar, and poured out the blood at the base of the altar;

KJVAnd the sons^H1121 of Aaron^H175 brought^H7126^(H8686) the blood^H1818 unto him: and he dipped^H2881^(H8799) his finger^H676 in the blood^H1818, and put^H5414^(H8799) it upon the horns^H7161 of the altar^H4196, and poured^H3332^(H8804) out the blood^H1818 at the bottom^H3247 of the altar^H4196:

¹⁰ but the fat, and the kidneys, and the cover from the liver of the sin offering, he burned upon the altar, as Yahweh commanded Moses.

¹¹ The meat and the skin he burned with fire outside the camp.

KJVAnd the flesh^H1320 and the hide^H5785 he burnt^H8313^(H8804) with fire^H784 without^H2351 the camp^H4264.

¹² He killed the burnt offering; and Aaron’s sons delivered the blood to him, and he sprinkled it around on the altar.

KJVAnd he slew^H7819^(H8799) the burnt offering^H5930; and Aaron's^H175 sons^H1121 presented^H4672^(H8686) unto him the blood^H1818, which he sprinkled^H2236^(H8799) round about^H5439 upon the altar^H4196.

¹³ They delivered the burnt offering to him, piece by piece, and the head. He burned them upon the altar.

KJVAnd they presented^H4672^(H8689) the burnt offering^H5930 unto him, with the pieces^H5409 thereof, and the head^H7218: and he burnt^H6999^(H8686) them upon the altar^H4196.

¹⁴ He washed the innards and the legs, and burned them on the burnt offering on the altar.

KJVAnd he did wash^H7364^(H8799) the inwards^H7130 and the legs^H3767, and burnt^H6999^(H8686) them upon the burnt offering^H5930 on the altar^H4196.

¹⁵ He presented the people’s offering, and took the goat of the sin offering which was for the people, and killed it, and offered it for sin, like the first.

KJVAnd he brought^H7126^(H8686) the people's^H5971 offering^H7133, and took^H3947^(H8799) the goat^H8163, which was the sin offering^H2403 for the people^H5971, and slew^H7819^(H8799) it, and offered it for sin^H2398^(H8762), as the first^H7223.

¹⁶ He presented the burnt offering, and offered it according to the ordinance.

KJVAnd he brought^H7126^(H8686) the burnt offering^H5930, and offered^H6213^(H8799) it according to the manner^H4941.

¹⁷ He presented the meal offering, and filled his hand from there, and burned it upon the altar, in addition to the burnt offering of the morning.

KJVAnd he brought^H7126^(H8686) the meat offering^H4503, and took^H4390^(H8762) an handful^H3709 thereof, and burnt^H6999^(H8686) it upon the altar^H4196, beside^H905 the burnt sacrifice^H5930 of the morning^H1242.

¹⁸ He also killed the bull and the ram, the sacrifice of peace offerings, which was for the people. Aaron’s sons delivered to him the blood, which he sprinkled around on the altar;

¹⁹ and the fat of the bull and of the ram, the fat tail, and that which covers the innards, and the kidneys, and the cover of the liver;

²⁰ and they put the fat upon the breasts, and he burned the fat on the altar.

²¹ Aaron waved the breasts and the right thigh for a wave offering before Yahweh, as Moses commanded.

²² Aaron lifted up his hands toward the people, and blessed them; and he came down from offering the sin offering, and the burnt offering, and the peace offerings.

²³ Moses and Aaron went into the Tent of Meeting, and came out, and blessed the people; and Yahweh’s glory appeared to all the people.

²⁴ Fire came out from before Yahweh, and consumed the burnt offering and the fat upon the altar. When all the people saw it, they shouted, and fell on their faces.

KJVAnd there came^H3318^(H8799) a fire^H784 out from before^H6440 the LORD^H3068, and consumed^H398^(H8799) upon the altar^H4196 the burnt offering^H5930 and the fat^H2459: which when all the people^H5971 saw^H7200^(H8799), they shouted^H7442^(H8799), and fell^H5307^(H8799) on their faces^H6440.
