¹The word of Yahweh of Armies came to me.

KJVAgain the word^H1697 of the LORD^H3068 of hosts^H6635 came to me, saying^H559^(H8800),

² Yahweh of Armies says: “I am jealous for Zion with great jealousy, and I am jealous for her with great wrath.”

KJVThus saith^H559^(H8804) the LORD^H3068 of hosts^H6635; I was jealous^H7065^(H8765) for Zion^H6726 with great^H1419 jealousy^H7068, and I was jealous^H7065^(H8765) for her with great^H1419 fury^H2534.

³ Yahweh says: “I have returned to Zion, and will dwell in the middle of Jerusalem. Jerusalem shall be called ‘The City of Truth;’ and the mountain of Yahweh of Armies, ‘The Holy Mountain.’”

KJVThus saith^H559^(H8804) the LORD^H3068; I am returned^H7725^(H8804) unto Zion^H6726, and will dwell^H7931^(H8804) in the midst^H8432 of Jerusalem^H3389: and Jerusalem^H3389 shall be called^H7121^(H8738) a city^H5892 of truth^H571; and the mountain^H2022 of the LORD^H3068 of hosts^H6635 the holy^H6944 mountain^H2022.

⁴ Yahweh of Armies says: “Old men and old women will again dwell in the streets of Jerusalem, every man with his staff in his hand because of their old age.

KJVThus saith^H559^(H8804) the LORD^H3068 of hosts^H6635; There shall yet old men^H2205 and old women^H2205 dwell^H3427^(H8799) in the streets^H7339 of Jerusalem^H3389, and every man^H376 with his staff^H4938 in his hand^H3027 for very^H7230 age^H3117.

⁵ The streets of the city will be full of boys and girls playing in its streets.”

KJVAnd the streets^H7339 of the city^H5892 shall be full^H4390^(H8735) of boys^H3206 and girls^H3207 playing^H7832^(H8764) in the streets^H7339 thereof.

⁶ Yahweh of Armies says: “If it is marvelous in the eyes of the remnant of this people in those days, should it also be marvelous in my eyes?” says Yahweh of Armies.

KJVThus saith^H559^(H8804) the LORD^H3068 of hosts^H6635; If it be marvellous^H6381^(H8735) in the eyes^H5869 of the remnant^H7611 of this people^H5971 in these days^H3117, should it also be marvellous^H6381^(H8735) in mine eyes^H5869? saith^H5002^(H8803) the LORD^H3068 of hosts^H6635.

⁷ Yahweh of Armies says: “Behold, I will save my people from the east country and from the west country.

KJVThus saith^H559^(H8804) the LORD^H3068 of hosts^H6635; Behold, I will save^H3467^(H8688) my people^H5971 from the east^H4217 country^H776, and from the west^H3996^H8121 country^H776;

⁸ I will bring them, and they will dwell within Jerusalem. They will be my people, and I will be their God, in truth and in righteousness.”

KJVAnd I will bring^H935^(H8689) them, and they shall dwell^H7931^(H8804) in the midst^H8432 of Jerusalem^H3389: and they shall be my people^H5971, and I will be their God^H430, in truth^H571 and in righteousness^H6666.

⁹ Yahweh of Armies says: “Let your hands be strong, you who hear in these days these words from the mouth of the prophets who were in the day that the foundation of the house of Yahweh of Armies was laid, even the temple, that it might be built.

KJVThus saith^H559^(H8804) the LORD^H3068 of hosts^H6635; Let your hands^H3027 be strong^H2388^(H8799), ye that hear^H8085^(H8802) in these days^H3117 these words^H1697 by the mouth^H6310 of the prophets^H5030, which were in the day^H3117 that the foundation^H3245 of the house^H1004 of the LORD^H3068 of hosts^H6635 was laid^H3245^(H8795), that the temple^H1964 might be built^H1129^(H8736).

¹⁰ For before those days there was no wages for man nor any wages for an animal, neither was there any peace to him who went out or came in, because of the adversary. For I set all men everyone against his neighbor.

KJVFor before^H6440 these days^H3117 there was^H1961^(H8738) no hire^H7939 for man^H120, nor any hire^H7939 for beast^H929; neither was there any peace^H7965 to him that went out^H3318^(H8802) or came in^H935^(H8802) because of the affliction^H6862: for I set^H7971^(H8762) all men^H120 every one^H376 against his neighbour^H7453.

¹¹ But now I will not be to the remnant of this people as in the former days,” says Yahweh of Armies.

KJVBut now I will not be unto the residue^H7611 of this people^H5971 as in the former^H7223 days^H3117, saith^H5002^(H8803) the LORD^H3068 of hosts^H6635.

¹² “For the seed of peace and the vine will yield its fruit, and the ground will give its increase, and the heavens will give their dew. I will cause the remnant of this people to inherit all these things.

KJVFor the seed^H2233 shall be prosperous^H7965; the vine^H1612 shall give^H5414^(H8799) her fruit^H6529, and the ground^H776 shall give^H5414^(H8799) her increase^H2981, and the heavens^H8064 shall give^H5414^(H8799) their dew^H2919; and I will cause the remnant^H7611 of this people^H5971 to possess^H5157^(H8689) all these things.

¹³ It shall come to pass that, as you were a curse among the nations, house of Judah and house of Israel, so I will save you, and you shall be a blessing. Don’t be afraid. Let your hands be strong.”

KJVAnd it shall come to pass, that as ye were a curse^H7045 among the heathen^H1471, O house^H1004 of Judah^H3063, and house^H1004 of Israel^H3478; so will I save^H3467^(H8686) you, and ye shall be a blessing^H1293: fear^H3372^(H8799) not, but let your hands^H3027 be strong^H2388^(H8799).

¹⁴ For Yahweh of Armies says: “As I thought to do evil to you when your fathers provoked me to wrath,” says Yahweh of Armies, “and I didn’t repent,

KJVFor thus saith^H559^(H8804) the LORD^H3068 of hosts^H6635; As I thought^H2161^(H8804) to punish^H7489^(H8687) you, when your fathers^H1 provoked me to wrath^H7107^(H8687), saith^H559^(H8804) the LORD^H3068 of hosts^H6635, and I repented^H5162^(H8738) not:

¹⁵ so again I have thought in these days to do good to Jerusalem and to the house of Judah. Don’t be afraid.

KJVSo again^H7725^(H8804) have I thought^H2161^(H8804) in these days^H3117 to do well^H3190^(H8687) unto Jerusalem^H3389 and to the house^H1004 of Judah^H3063: fear^H3372^(H8799) ye not.

¹⁶ These are the things that you shall do: speak every man the truth with his neighbor. Execute the judgment of truth and peace in your gates,

KJVThese are the things^H1697 that ye shall do^H6213^(H8799); Speak^H1696^(H8761) ye every man^H376 the truth^H571 to his neighbour^H7453; execute^H8199^(H8798) the judgment^H4941 of truth^H571 and peace^H7965 in your gates^H8179:

¹⁷ and let none of you devise evil in your hearts against his neighbor, and love no false oath; for all these are things that I hate,” says Yahweh.

KJVAnd let none^H376 of you imagine^H2803^(H8799) evil^H7451 in your hearts^H3824 against his neighbour^H7453; and love^H157^(H8799) no false^H8267 oath^H7621: for all these are things that I hate^H8130^(H8804), saith^H5002^(H8803) the LORD^H3068.

¹⁸ The word of Yahweh of Armies came to me.

KJVAnd the word^H1697 of the LORD^H3068 of hosts^H6635 came unto me, saying^H559^(H8800),

¹⁹ Yahweh of Armies says: “The fasts of the fourth, fifth, seventh, and tenth months shall be for the house of Judah joy, gladness, and cheerful feasts. Therefore love truth and peace.”

KJVThus saith^H559^(H8804) the LORD^H3068 of hosts^H6635; The fast^H6685 of the fourth^H7243 month, and the fast^H6685 of the fifth^H2549, and the fast^H6685 of the seventh^H7637, and the fast^H6685 of the tenth^H6224, shall be to the house^H1004 of Judah^H3063 joy^H8342 and gladness^H8057, and cheerful^H2896 feasts^H4150; therefore love^H157^(H8798) the truth^H571 and peace^H7965.

²⁰ Yahweh of Armies says: “Many peoples and the inhabitants of many cities will yet come.

KJVThus saith^H559^(H8804) the LORD^H3068 of hosts^H6635; It shall yet come to pass, that there shall come^H935^(H8799) people^H5971, and the inhabitants^H3427^(H8802) of many^H7227 cities^H5892:

²¹ The inhabitants of one will go to another, saying, ‘Let’s go speedily to entreat the favor of Yahweh, and to seek Yahweh of Armies. I will go also.’

KJVAnd the inhabitants^H3427^(H8802) of one^H259 city shall go^H1980^(H8804) to another^H259, saying^H559^(H8800), Let us go^H3212^(H8799) speedily^H1980^(H8800) to pray^H2470^(H8763) before^H6440 the LORD^H3068, and to seek^H1245^(H8763) the LORD^H3068 of hosts^H6635: I will go^H3212^(H8799) also.

²² Yes, many peoples and strong nations will come to seek Yahweh of Armies in Jerusalem and to entreat the favor of Yahweh.”

KJVYea, many^H7227 people^H5971 and strong^H6099 nations^H1471 shall come^H935^(H8804) to seek^H1245^(H8763) the LORD^H3068 of hosts^H6635 in Jerusalem^H3389, and to pray^H2470^(H8763) before^H6440 the LORD^H3068.

²³ Yahweh of Armies says: “In those days, ten men out of all the languages of the nations will take hold of the skirt of him who is a Jew, saying, ‘We will go with you, for we have heard that God is with you.’”

KJVThus saith^H559^(H8804) the LORD^H3068 of hosts^H6635; In those days^H3117 it shall come to pass, that ten^H6235 men^H582 shall take hold^H2388^(H8686) out of all languages^H3956 of the nations^H1471, even shall take hold^H2388^(H8689) of the skirt^H3671 of him that is a Jew^H376^H3064, saying^H559^(H8800), We will go^H3212^(H8799) with you: for we have heard^H8085^(H8804) that God^H430 is with you.

¹In the fourth year of King Darius, Yahweh’s word came to Zechariah in the fourth day of the ninth month, the month of Chislev.

KJVAnd it came to pass in the fourth^H702 year^H8141 of king^H4428 Darius^H1867, that the word^H1697 of the LORD^H3068 came unto Zechariah^H2148 in the fourth^H702 day of the ninth^H8671 month^H2320, even in Chisleu^H3691;

² The people of Bethel sent Sharezer and Regem Melech and their men to entreat Yahweh’s favor,

KJVWhen they had sent^H7971^(H8799) unto the house^H1004 of God^H410 Sherezer^H8272 and Regemmelech^H7278, and their men^H582, to pray^H2470^(H8763) before^H6440 the LORD^H3068,

³ and to speak to the priests of the house of Yahweh of Armies and to the prophets, saying, “Should I weep in the fifth month, separating myself, as I have done these so many years?”

KJVAnd to speak^H559^(H8800) unto the priests^H3548 which were in the house^H1004 of the LORD^H3068 of hosts^H6635, and to the prophets^H5030, saying^H559^(H8800), Should I weep^H1058^(H8799) in the fifth^H2549 month^H2320, separating^H5144^(H8736) myself, as I have done^H6213^(H8804) these so many years^H8141?

⁴ Then the word of Yahweh of Armies came to me, saying,

KJVThen came the word^H1697 of the LORD^H3068 of hosts^H6635 unto me, saying^H559^(H8800),

⁵ “Speak to all the people of the land and to the priests, saying, ‘When you fasted and mourned in the fifth and in the seventh month for these seventy years, did you at all fast to me, really to me?

KJVSpeak^H559^(H8798) unto all the people^H5971 of the land^H776, and to the priests^H3548, saying^H559^(H8800), When ye fasted^H6684^(H8804) and mourned^H5594^(H8800) in the fifth^H2549 and seventh^H7637 month, even those seventy^H7657 years^H8141, did ye at all^H6684^(H8800) fast^H6684^(H8804) unto me, even to me?

⁶ When you eat and when you drink, don’t you eat for yourselves and drink for yourselves?

KJVAnd when ye did eat^H398^(H8799), and when ye did drink^H8354^(H8799), did not ye eat^H398^(H8802) for yourselves, and drink^H8354^(H8802) for yourselves?

⁷ Aren’t these the words which Yahweh proclaimed by the former prophets when Jerusalem was inhabited and in prosperity, and its cities around her, and the South and the lowland were inhabited?’”

KJVShould ye not hear the words^H1697 which the LORD^H3068 hath cried^H7121^(H8804) by^H3027 the former^H7223 prophets^H5030, when Jerusalem^H3389 was inhabited^H3427^(H8802) and in prosperity^H7961, and the cities^H5892 thereof round about her^H5439, when men inhabited^H3427^(H8802) the south^H5045 and the plain^H8219?

⁸ Yahweh’s word came to Zechariah, saying,

KJVAnd the word^H1697 of the LORD^H3068 came unto Zechariah^H2148, saying^H559^(H8800),

⁹ “Thus has Yahweh of Armies spoken, saying, ‘Execute true judgment, and show kindness and compassion every man to his brother.

KJVThus speaketh^H559^(H8804) the LORD^H3068 of hosts^H6635, saying^H559^(H8800), Execute^H8199^(H8798) true^H571 judgment^H4941, and shew^H6213^(H8798) mercy^H2617 and compassions^H7356 every man^H376 to his brother^H251:

¹⁰ Don’t oppress the widow, the fatherless, the foreigner, nor the poor; and let none of you devise evil against his brother in your heart.’

¹¹ But they refused to listen, and turned their backs, and stopped their ears, that they might not hear.

¹² Yes, they made their hearts as hard as flint, lest they might hear the law and the words which Yahweh of Armies had sent by his Spirit by the former prophets. Therefore great wrath came from Yahweh of Armies.

KJVYea, they made^H7760^(H8804) their hearts^H3820 as an adamant stone^H8068, lest they should hear^H8085^(H8800) the law^H8451, and the words^H1697 which the LORD^H3068 of hosts^H6635 hath sent^H7971^(H8804) in his spirit^H7307 by^H3027 the former^H7223 prophets^H5030: therefore came a great^H1419 wrath^H7110 from the LORD^H3068 of hosts^H6635.

¹³ It has come to pass that, as he called and they refused to listen, so they will call and I will not listen,” said Yahweh of Armies;

KJVTherefore it is come to pass, that as he cried^H7121^(H8804), and they would not hear^H8085^(H8804); so they cried^H7121^(H8799), and I would not hear^H8085^(H8799), saith^H559^(H8804) the LORD^H3068 of hosts^H6635:

¹⁴ “but I will scatter them with a whirlwind among all the nations which they have not known. Thus the land was desolate after them, so that no man passed through nor returned; for they made the pleasant land desolate.”

KJVBut I scattered them with a whirlwind^H5590^(H8762) among all the nations^H1471 whom they knew^H3045^(H8804) not. Thus the land^H776 was desolate^H8074^(H8738) after^H310 them, that no man passed through^H5674^(H8802) nor returned^H7725^(H8802): for they laid^H7760^(H8799) the pleasant^H2532 land^H776 desolate^H8047.
