¹A revelation. Yahweh’s word is against the land of Hadrach, and will rest upon Damascus— for the eye of man and of all the tribes of Israel is toward Yahweh—

² and Hamath, also, which borders on it, Tyre and Sidon, because they are very wise.

³ Tyre built herself a stronghold, and heaped up silver like the dust, and fine gold like the mire of the streets.

⁴ Behold, the Lord will dispossess her, and he will strike her power in the sea; and she will be devoured with fire.

⁵ Ashkelon will see it, and fear; Gaza also, and will writhe in agony; as will Ekron, for her expectation will be disappointed; and the king will perish from Gaza, and Ashkelon will not be inhabited.

⁶ Foreigners will dwell in Ashdod, and I will cut off the pride of the Philistines.

⁷ I will take away his blood out of his mouth, and his abominations from between his teeth; and he also will be a remnant for our God; and he will be as a chieftain in Judah, and Ekron as a Jebusite.

⁸ I will encamp around my house against the army, that no one pass through or return; and no oppressor will pass through them any more: for now I have seen with my eyes.

⁹ Rejoice greatly, daughter of Zion! Shout, daughter of Jerusalem! Behold, your King comes to you! He is righteous, and having salvation; lowly, and riding on a donkey, even on a colt, the foal of a donkey.

¹⁰ I will cut off the chariot from Ephraim and the horse from Jerusalem. The battle bow will be cut off; and he will speak peace to the nations. His dominion will be from sea to sea, and from the River to the ends of the earth.

¹¹ As for you also, because of the blood of your covenant, I have set free your prisoners from the pit in which is no water.

¹² Turn to the stronghold, you prisoners of hope! Even today I declare that I will restore double to you.

¹³ For indeed I bend Judah as a bow for me. I have loaded the bow with Ephraim. I will stir up your sons, Zion, against your sons, Greece, and will make you like the sword of a mighty man.

¹⁴ Yahweh will be seen over them. His arrow will flash like lightning. The Lord Yahweh will blow the trumpet, and will go with whirlwinds of the south.

KJVAnd the LORD^H3068 shall be seen^H7200^(H8735) over them, and his arrow^H2671 shall go forth^H3318^(H8804) as the lightning^H1300: and the Lord^H136 GOD^H3069 shall blow^H8628^(H8799) the trumpet^H7782, and shall go^H1980^(H8804) with whirlwinds^H5591 of the south^H8486.

¹⁵ Yahweh of Armies will defend them. They will destroy and overcome with sling stones. They will drink, and roar as through wine. They will be filled like bowls, like the corners of the altar.

KJVThe LORD^H3068 of hosts^H6635 shall defend^H1598^(H8686) them; and they shall devour^H398^(H8804), and subdue^H3533^(H8804) with sling^H7050 stones^H68; and they shall drink^H8354^(H8804), and make a noise^H1993^(H8804) as through wine^H3196; and they shall be filled^H4390^(H8804) like bowls^H4219, and as the corners^H2106 of the altar^H4196.

¹⁶ Yahweh their God will save them in that day as the flock of his people; for they are like the jewels of a crown, lifted on high over his land.

KJVAnd the LORD^H3068 their God^H430 shall save^H3467^(H8689) them in that day^H3117 as the flock^H6629 of his people^H5971: for they shall be as the stones^H68 of a crown^H5145, lifted up as an ensign^H5264^(H8706) upon his land^H127.

¹⁷ For how great is his goodness, and how great is his beauty! Grain will make the young men flourish, and new wine the virgins.

¹The word of Yahweh of Armies came to me.

KJVAgain the word^H1697 of the LORD^H3068 of hosts^H6635 came to me, saying^H559^(H8800),

² Yahweh of Armies says: “I am jealous for Zion with great jealousy, and I am jealous for her with great wrath.”

KJVThus saith^H559^(H8804) the LORD^H3068 of hosts^H6635; I was jealous^H7065^(H8765) for Zion^H6726 with great^H1419 jealousy^H7068, and I was jealous^H7065^(H8765) for her with great^H1419 fury^H2534.

³ Yahweh says: “I have returned to Zion, and will dwell in the middle of Jerusalem. Jerusalem shall be called ‘The City of Truth;’ and the mountain of Yahweh of Armies, ‘The Holy Mountain.’”

KJVThus saith^H559^(H8804) the LORD^H3068; I am returned^H7725^(H8804) unto Zion^H6726, and will dwell^H7931^(H8804) in the midst^H8432 of Jerusalem^H3389: and Jerusalem^H3389 shall be called^H7121^(H8738) a city^H5892 of truth^H571; and the mountain^H2022 of the LORD^H3068 of hosts^H6635 the holy^H6944 mountain^H2022.

⁴ Yahweh of Armies says: “Old men and old women will again dwell in the streets of Jerusalem, every man with his staff in his hand because of their old age.

KJVThus saith^H559^(H8804) the LORD^H3068 of hosts^H6635; There shall yet old men^H2205 and old women^H2205 dwell^H3427^(H8799) in the streets^H7339 of Jerusalem^H3389, and every man^H376 with his staff^H4938 in his hand^H3027 for very^H7230 age^H3117.

⁵ The streets of the city will be full of boys and girls playing in its streets.”

KJVAnd the streets^H7339 of the city^H5892 shall be full^H4390^(H8735) of boys^H3206 and girls^H3207 playing^H7832^(H8764) in the streets^H7339 thereof.

⁶ Yahweh of Armies says: “If it is marvelous in the eyes of the remnant of this people in those days, should it also be marvelous in my eyes?” says Yahweh of Armies.

KJVThus saith^H559^(H8804) the LORD^H3068 of hosts^H6635; If it be marvellous^H6381^(H8735) in the eyes^H5869 of the remnant^H7611 of this people^H5971 in these days^H3117, should it also be marvellous^H6381^(H8735) in mine eyes^H5869? saith^H5002^(H8803) the LORD^H3068 of hosts^H6635.

⁷ Yahweh of Armies says: “Behold, I will save my people from the east country and from the west country.

KJVThus saith^H559^(H8804) the LORD^H3068 of hosts^H6635; Behold, I will save^H3467^(H8688) my people^H5971 from the east^H4217 country^H776, and from the west^H3996^H8121 country^H776;

⁸ I will bring them, and they will dwell within Jerusalem. They will be my people, and I will be their God, in truth and in righteousness.”

KJVAnd I will bring^H935^(H8689) them, and they shall dwell^H7931^(H8804) in the midst^H8432 of Jerusalem^H3389: and they shall be my people^H5971, and I will be their God^H430, in truth^H571 and in righteousness^H6666.

⁹ Yahweh of Armies says: “Let your hands be strong, you who hear in these days these words from the mouth of the prophets who were in the day that the foundation of the house of Yahweh of Armies was laid, even the temple, that it might be built.

KJVThus saith^H559^(H8804) the LORD^H3068 of hosts^H6635; Let your hands^H3027 be strong^H2388^(H8799), ye that hear^H8085^(H8802) in these days^H3117 these words^H1697 by the mouth^H6310 of the prophets^H5030, which were in the day^H3117 that the foundation^H3245 of the house^H1004 of the LORD^H3068 of hosts^H6635 was laid^H3245^(H8795), that the temple^H1964 might be built^H1129^(H8736).

¹⁰ For before those days there was no wages for man nor any wages for an animal, neither was there any peace to him who went out or came in, because of the adversary. For I set all men everyone against his neighbor.

¹¹ But now I will not be to the remnant of this people as in the former days,” says Yahweh of Armies.

¹² “For the seed of peace and the vine will yield its fruit, and the ground will give its increase, and the heavens will give their dew. I will cause the remnant of this people to inherit all these things.

KJVFor the seed^H2233 shall be prosperous^H7965; the vine^H1612 shall give^H5414^(H8799) her fruit^H6529, and the ground^H776 shall give^H5414^(H8799) her increase^H2981, and the heavens^H8064 shall give^H5414^(H8799) their dew^H2919; and I will cause the remnant^H7611 of this people^H5971 to possess^H5157^(H8689) all these things.

¹³ It shall come to pass that, as you were a curse among the nations, house of Judah and house of Israel, so I will save you, and you shall be a blessing. Don’t be afraid. Let your hands be strong.”

KJVAnd it shall come to pass, that as ye were a curse^H7045 among the heathen^H1471, O house^H1004 of Judah^H3063, and house^H1004 of Israel^H3478; so will I save^H3467^(H8686) you, and ye shall be a blessing^H1293: fear^H3372^(H8799) not, but let your hands^H3027 be strong^H2388^(H8799).

¹⁴ For Yahweh of Armies says: “As I thought to do evil to you when your fathers provoked me to wrath,” says Yahweh of Armies, “and I didn’t repent,

KJVFor thus saith^H559^(H8804) the LORD^H3068 of hosts^H6635; As I thought^H2161^(H8804) to punish^H7489^(H8687) you, when your fathers^H1 provoked me to wrath^H7107^(H8687), saith^H559^(H8804) the LORD^H3068 of hosts^H6635, and I repented^H5162^(H8738) not:

¹⁵ so again I have thought in these days to do good to Jerusalem and to the house of Judah. Don’t be afraid.

KJVSo again^H7725^(H8804) have I thought^H2161^(H8804) in these days^H3117 to do well^H3190^(H8687) unto Jerusalem^H3389 and to the house^H1004 of Judah^H3063: fear^H3372^(H8799) ye not.

¹⁶ These are the things that you shall do: speak every man the truth with his neighbor. Execute the judgment of truth and peace in your gates,

¹⁷ and let none of you devise evil in your hearts against his neighbor, and love no false oath; for all these are things that I hate,” says Yahweh.

¹⁸ The word of Yahweh of Armies came to me.

¹⁹ Yahweh of Armies says: “The fasts of the fourth, fifth, seventh, and tenth months shall be for the house of Judah joy, gladness, and cheerful feasts. Therefore love truth and peace.”

KJVThus saith^H559^(H8804) the LORD^H3068 of hosts^H6635; The fast^H6685 of the fourth^H7243 month, and the fast^H6685 of the fifth^H2549, and the fast^H6685 of the seventh^H7637, and the fast^H6685 of the tenth^H6224, shall be to the house^H1004 of Judah^H3063 joy^H8342 and gladness^H8057, and cheerful^H2896 feasts^H4150; therefore love^H157^(H8798) the truth^H571 and peace^H7965.

²⁰ Yahweh of Armies says: “Many peoples and the inhabitants of many cities will yet come.

KJVThus saith^H559^(H8804) the LORD^H3068 of hosts^H6635; It shall yet come to pass, that there shall come^H935^(H8799) people^H5971, and the inhabitants^H3427^(H8802) of many^H7227 cities^H5892:

²¹ The inhabitants of one will go to another, saying, ‘Let’s go speedily to entreat the favor of Yahweh, and to seek Yahweh of Armies. I will go also.’

KJVAnd the inhabitants^H3427^(H8802) of one^H259 city shall go^H1980^(H8804) to another^H259, saying^H559^(H8800), Let us go^H3212^(H8799) speedily^H1980^(H8800) to pray^H2470^(H8763) before^H6440 the LORD^H3068, and to seek^H1245^(H8763) the LORD^H3068 of hosts^H6635: I will go^H3212^(H8799) also.

²² Yes, many peoples and strong nations will come to seek Yahweh of Armies in Jerusalem and to entreat the favor of Yahweh.”

KJVYea, many^H7227 people^H5971 and strong^H6099 nations^H1471 shall come^H935^(H8804) to seek^H1245^(H8763) the LORD^H3068 of hosts^H6635 in Jerusalem^H3389, and to pray^H2470^(H8763) before^H6440 the LORD^H3068.

²³ Yahweh of Armies says: “In those days, ten men out of all the languages of the nations will take hold of the skirt of him who is a Jew, saying, ‘We will go with you, for we have heard that God is with you.’”

KJVThus saith^H559^(H8804) the LORD^H3068 of hosts^H6635; In those days^H3117 it shall come to pass, that ten^H6235 men^H582 shall take hold^H2388^(H8686) out of all languages^H3956 of the nations^H1471, even shall take hold^H2388^(H8689) of the skirt^H3671 of him that is a Jew^H376^H3064, saying^H559^(H8800), We will go^H3212^(H8799) with you: for we have heard^H8085^(H8804) that God^H430 is with you.
