¹Now Korah, the son of Izhar, the son of Kohath, the son of Levi, with Dathan and Abiram, the sons of Eliab, and On, the son of Peleth, sons of Reuben, took some men.

² They rose up before Moses, with some of the children of Israel, two hundred fifty princes of the congregation, called to the assembly, men of renown.

³ They assembled themselves together against Moses and against Aaron, and said to them, “You take too much on yourself, since all the congregation are holy, everyone of them, and Yahweh is among them! Why do you lift yourselves up above Yahweh’s assembly?”

⁴ When Moses heard it, he fell on his face.

⁵ He said to Korah and to all his company, “In the morning, Yahweh will show who are his, and who is holy, and will cause him to come near to him. Even him whom he shall choose, he will cause to come near to him.

⁶ Do this: have Korah and all his company take censers,

⁷ put fire in them, and put incense on them before Yahweh tomorrow. It shall be that the man whom Yahweh chooses, he shall be holy. You have gone too far, you sons of Levi!”

⁸ Moses said to Korah, “Hear now, you sons of Levi!

⁹ Is it a small thing to you that the God of Israel has separated you from the congregation of Israel, to bring you near to himself, to do the service of Yahweh’s tabernacle, and to stand before the congregation to minister to them;

¹¹ Therefore you and all your company have gathered together against Yahweh! What is Aaron that you complain against him?”

¹² Moses sent to call Dathan and Abiram, the sons of Eliab; and they said, “We won’t come up!

¹³ Is it a small thing that you have brought us up out of a land flowing with milk and honey, to kill us in the wilderness, but you must also make yourself a prince over us?

¹⁵ Moses was very angry, and said to Yahweh, “Don’t respect their offering. I have not taken one donkey from them, neither have I hurt one of them.”

¹⁶ Moses said to Korah, “You and all your company go before Yahweh, you, and they, and Aaron, tomorrow.

¹⁷ Each man take his censer and put incense on it, and each man bring before Yahweh his censer, two hundred fifty censers; you also, and Aaron, each with his censer.”

¹⁸ They each took his censer, and put fire in it, and laid incense on it, and stood at the door of the Tent of Meeting with Moses and Aaron.

¹⁹ Korah assembled all the congregation opposite them to the door of the Tent of Meeting. Yahweh’s glory appeared to all the congregation.

KJVAnd Korah^H7141 gathered^H6950^(H8686) all the congregation^H5712 against them unto the door^H6607 of the tabernacle^H168 of the congregation^H4150: and the glory^H3519 of the LORD^H3068 appeared^H7200^(H8735) unto all the congregation^H5712.

²⁰ Yahweh spoke to Moses and to Aaron, saying,

KJVAnd the LORD^H3068 spake^H1696^(H8762) unto Moses^H4872 and unto Aaron^H175, saying^H559^(H8800),

²¹ “Separate yourselves from among this congregation, that I may consume them in a moment!”

KJVSeparate^H914^(H8734) yourselves from among^H8432 this congregation^H5712, that I may consume^H3615^(H8762) them in a moment^H7281.

²² They fell on their faces, and said, “God, the God of the spirits of all flesh, shall one man sin, and will you be angry with all the congregation?”

KJVAnd they fell^H5307^(H8799) upon their faces^H6440, and said^H559^(H8799), O God^H410, the God^H430 of the spirits^H7307 of all flesh^H1320, shall one^H259 man^H376 sin^H2398^(H8799), and wilt thou be wroth^H7107^(H8799) with all the congregation^H5712?

²³ Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying,

²⁴ “Speak to the congregation, saying, ‘Get away from around the tent of Korah, Dathan, and Abiram!’”

KJVSpeak^H1696^(H8761) unto the congregation^H5712, saying^H559^(H8800), Get you up^H5927^(H8734) from about^H5439 the tabernacle^H4908 of Korah^H7141, Dathan^H1885, and Abiram^H48.

²⁵ Moses rose up and went to Dathan and Abiram; and the elders of Israel followed him.

KJVAnd Moses^H4872 rose up^H6965^(H8799) and went^H3212^(H8799) unto Dathan^H1885 and Abiram^H48; and the elders^H2205 of Israel^H3478 followed^H3212^(H8799) him^H310.

²⁶ He spoke to the congregation, saying, “Depart, please, from the tents of these wicked men, and touch nothing of theirs, lest you be consumed in all their sins!”

KJVAnd he spake^H1696^(H8762) unto the congregation^H5712, saying^H559^(H8800), Depart^H5493^(H8798), I pray you, from the tents^H168 of these wicked^H7563 men^H582, and touch^H5060^(H8799) nothing of theirs, lest ye be consumed^H5595^(H8735) in all their sins^H2403.

²⁷ So they went away from the tent of Korah, Dathan, and Abiram, on every side. Dathan and Abiram came out, and stood at the door of their tents with their wives, their sons, and their little ones.

²⁸ Moses said, “Hereby you shall know that Yahweh has sent me to do all these works; for they are not from my own mind.

KJVAnd Moses^H4872 said^H559^(H8799), Hereby ye shall know^H3045^(H8799) that the LORD^H3068 hath sent^H7971^(H8804) me to do^H6213^(H8800) all these works^H4639; for I have not done them of mine own mind^H3820.

²⁹ If these men die the common death of all men, or if they experience what all men experience, then Yahweh hasn’t sent me.

KJVIf these men die^H4191^(H8799) the common death^H4194 of all men^H120, or if they be visited^H6485^(H8735) after the visitation^H6486 of all men^H120; then the LORD^H3068 hath not sent^H7971^(H8804) me.

³⁰ But if Yahweh makes a new thing, and the ground opens its mouth, and swallows them up with all that belong to them, and they go down alive into Sheol, then you shall understand that these men have despised Yahweh.”

³¹ As he finished speaking all these words, the ground that was under them split apart.

KJVAnd it came to pass, as he had made an end^H3615^(H8763) of speaking^H1696^(H8763) all these words^H1697, that the ground^H127 clave asunder^H1234^(H8735) that was under them:

³² The earth opened its mouth and swallowed them up with their households, all of Korah’s men, and all their goods.

KJVAnd the earth^H776 opened^H6605^(H8799) her mouth^H6310, and swallowed them up^H1104^(H8799), and their houses^H1004, and all the men^H120 that appertained unto Korah^H7141, and all their goods^H7399.

³³ So they, and all that belonged to them went down alive into Sheol. The earth closed on them, and they perished from among the assembly.

³⁴ All Israel that were around them fled at their cry; for they said, “Lest the earth swallow us up!”

³⁵ Fire came out from Yahweh, and devoured the two hundred fifty men who offered the incense.

KJVAnd there came out^H3318^(H8804) a fire^H784 from the LORD^H3068, and consumed^H398^(H8799) the two hundred^H3967 and fifty^H2572 men^H376 that offered^H7126^(H8688) incense^H7004.

³⁶ Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying,

KJVAnd the LORD^H3068 spake^H1696^(H8762) unto Moses^H4872, saying^H559^(H8800),

³⁷ “Speak to Eleazar the son of Aaron the priest, that he take up the censers out of the burning, and scatter the fire away from the camp; for they are holy,

KJVSpeak^H559^(H8798) unto Eleazar^H499 the son^H1121 of Aaron^H175 the priest^H3548, that he take up^H7311^(H8686) the censers^H4289 out^H996 of the burning^H8316, and scatter^H2219^(H8798) thou the fire^H784 yonder^H1973; for they are hallowed^H6942^(H8804).

³⁸ even the censers of those who sinned against their own lives. Let them be beaten into plates for a covering of the altar, for they offered them before Yahweh. Therefore they are holy. They shall be a sign to the children of Israel.”

³⁹ Eleazar the priest took the bronze censers which those who were burned had offered; and they beat them out for a covering of the altar,

KJVAnd Eleazar^H499 the priest^H3548 took^H3947^(H8799) the brasen^H5178 censers^H4289, wherewith they that were burnt^H8313^(H8803) had offered^H7126^(H8689); and they were made broad^H7554^(H8762) plates for a covering^H6826 of the altar^H4196:

⁴⁰ to be a memorial to the children of Israel, to the end that no stranger who isn’t of the offspring of Aaron, would come near to burn incense before Yahweh, that he not be as Korah and as his company; as Yahweh spoke to him by Moses.

⁴¹ But on the next day all the congregation of the children of Israel complained against Moses and against Aaron, saying, “You have killed Yahweh’s people!”

KJVBut on the morrow^H4283 all the congregation^H5712 of the children^H1121 of Israel^H3478 murmured^H3885^(H8735) against Moses^H4872 and against Aaron^H175, saying^H559^(H8800), Ye have killed^H4191^(H8689) the people^H5971 of the LORD^H3068.

⁴² When the congregation was assembled against Moses and against Aaron, they looked toward the Tent of Meeting. Behold, the cloud covered it, and Yahweh’s glory appeared.

KJVAnd it came to pass, when the congregation^H5712 was gathered^H6950^(H8736) against Moses^H4872 and against Aaron^H175, that they looked^H6437^(H8799) toward the tabernacle^H168 of the congregation^H4150: and, behold, the cloud^H6051 covered^H3680^(H8765) it, and the glory^H3519 of the LORD^H3068 appeared^H7200^(H8735).

⁴³ Moses and Aaron came to the front of the Tent of Meeting.

⁴⁴ Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying,

KJVAnd the LORD^H3068 spake^H1696^(H8762) unto Moses^H4872, saying^H559^(H8800),

⁴⁵ “Get away from among this congregation, that I may consume them in a moment!” They fell on their faces.

KJVGet you up^H7426^(H8734) from among^H8432 this congregation^H5712, that I may consume^H3615^(H8762) them as in a moment^H7281. And they fell^H5307^(H8799) upon their faces^H6440.

⁴⁶ Moses said to Aaron, “Take your censer, put fire from the altar in it, lay incense on it, carry it quickly to the congregation, and make atonement for them; for wrath has gone out from Yahweh! The plague has begun.”

⁴⁷ Aaron did as Moses said, and ran into the middle of the assembly. The plague had already begun among the people. He put on the incense, and made atonement for the people.

KJVAnd Aaron^H175 took^H3947^(H8799) as Moses^H4872 commanded^H1696^(H8765), and ran^H7323^(H8799) into the midst^H8432 of the congregation^H6951; and, behold, the plague^H5063 was begun^H2490^(H8689) among the people^H5971: and he put^H5414^(H8799) on incense^H7004, and made an atonement^H3722^(H8762) for the people^H5971.

⁴⁸ He stood between the dead and the living; and the plague was stayed.

KJVAnd he stood^H5975^(H8799) between the dead^H4191^(H8801) and the living^H2416; and the plague^H4046 was stayed^H6113^(H8735).

⁴⁹ Now those who died by the plague were fourteen thousand seven hundred, in addition to those who died about the matter of Korah.

KJVNow they that died^H4191^(H8801) in the plague^H4046 were fourteen^H702^H6240 thousand^H505 and seven^H7651 hundred^H3967, beside them that died^H4191^(H8801) about the matter^H1697 of Korah^H7141.

⁵⁰ Aaron returned to Moses to the door of the Tent of Meeting, and the plague was stopped.

⁵ You shall prepare wine for the drink offering, one fourth of a hin, with the burnt offering or for the sacrifice, for each lamb.

⁸ When you prepare a bull for a burnt offering or for a sacrifice, to accomplish a vow, or for peace offerings to Yahweh,

KJVAnd when thou preparest^H6213^(H8799) a bullock^H1121^H1241 for a burnt offering^H5930, or for a sacrifice^H2077 in performing^H6381^(H8763) a vow^H5088, or peace offerings^H8002 unto the LORD^H3068:

⁹ then he shall offer with the bull a meal offering of three tenths of an ephah of fine flour mixed with half a hin of oil;

¹¹ Thus it shall be done for each bull, for each ram, for each of the male lambs, or of the young goats.

¹² According to the number that you shall prepare, so you shall do to everyone according to their number.

¹³ “‘All who are native-born shall do these things in this way, in offering an offering made by fire, of a pleasant aroma to Yahweh.

¹⁴ If a stranger lives as a foreigner with you, or whoever may be among you throughout your generations, and will offer an offering made by fire, of a pleasant aroma to Yahweh, as you do, so he shall do.
