WEB·Numbers 5
1Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying,
KJVAnd the LORDH3068 spakeH1696(H8762) unto MosesH4872, sayingH559(H8800),
2 “Command the children of Israel that they put out of the camp every leper, everyone who has a discharge, and whoever is unclean by a corpse.
KJVCommandH6680(H8761) the childrenH1121 of IsraelH3478, that they put outH7971(H8762) of the campH4264 every leperH6879(H8803), and every one that hath an issueH2100(H8802), and whosoever is defiledH2931 by the deadH5315:
3 You shall put both male and female outside of the camp so that they don’t defile their camp, in the midst of which I dwell.”
KJVBoth maleH2145 and femaleH5347 shall ye put outH7971(H8762), withoutH2351 the campH4264 shall ye putH7971(H8762) them; that they defileH2930(H8762) not their campsH4264, in the midstH8432 whereofH834 I dwellH7931(H8802).
4 The children of Israel did so, and put them outside of the camp; as Yahweh spoke to Moses, so the children of Israel did.
KJVAnd the childrenH1121 of IsraelH3478 did soH6213(H8799), and put them outH7971(H8762) withoutH2351 the campH4264: as the LORDH3068 spakeH1696(H8765) unto MosesH4872, so didH6213(H8804) the childrenH1121 of IsraelH3478.
5 Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying,
KJVAnd the LORDH3068 spakeH1696(H8762) unto MosesH4872, sayingH559(H8800),
6 “Speak to the children of Israel: ‘When a man or woman commits any sin that men commit, so as to trespass against Yahweh, and that soul is guilty,
KJVSpeakH1696(H8761) unto the childrenH1121 of IsraelH3478, When a manH376 or womanH802 shall commitH6213(H8799) any sinH2403 that menH120 commitH4603(H8800), to do a trespassH4604 against the LORDH3068, and that personH5315 be guiltyH816(H8804);
7 then he shall confess his sin which he has done; and he shall make restitution for his guilt in full, add to it the fifth part of it, and give it to him in respect of whom he has been guilty.
KJVThen they shall confessH3034(H8694) their sinH2403 which they have doneH6213(H8804): and he shall recompenseH7725(H8689) his trespassH817 with the principalH7218 thereof, and addH3254(H8686) unto it the fifthH2549 part thereof, and giveH5414(H8804) it unto him against whom he hath trespassedH816(H8804).
8 But if the man has no kinsman to whom restitution may be made for the guilt, the restitution for guilt which is made to Yahweh shall be the priest’s, in addition to the ram of the atonement, by which atonement shall be made for him.
KJVBut if the manH376 have no kinsmanH1350(H8802) to recompenseH7725(H8687) the trespassH817 unto, let the trespassH817 be recompensedH7725(H8716) unto the LORDH3068, even to the priestH3548; beside the ramH352 of the atonementH3725, whereby an atonement shall be madeH3722(H8762) for him.
9 Every heave offering of all the holy things of the children of Israel, which they present to the priest, shall be his.
KJVAnd every offeringH8641 of all the holy thingsH6944 of the childrenH1121 of IsraelH3478, which they bringH7126(H8686) unto the priestH3548, shall be his.
10 Every man’s holy things shall be his; whatever any man gives the priest, it shall be his.’”
KJVAnd every man'sH376 hallowed thingsH6944 shall be his: whatsoever any manH376 givethH5414(H8799) the priestH3548, it shall be his.
11 Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying,
KJVAnd the LORDH3068 spakeH1696(H8762) unto MosesH4872, sayingH559(H8800),
12 “Speak to the children of Israel, and tell them: ‘If any man’s wife goes astray and is unfaithful to him,
KJVSpeakH1696(H8761) unto the childrenH1121 of IsraelH3478, and sayH559(H8804) unto them, If anyH376 man'sH376 wifeH802 go asideH7847(H8799), and commitH4603(H8804) a trespassH4604 against him,
13 and a man lies with her carnally, and it is hidden from the eyes of her husband and this is kept concealed, and she is defiled, there is no witness against her, and she isn’t taken in the act;
KJVAnd a manH376 lieH7901(H8804) with her carnallyH7902H2233, and it be hidH5956(H8738) from the eyesH5869 of her husbandH376, and be kept closeH5641(H8738), and she be defiledH2930(H8738), and there be no witnessH5707 against her, neither she be takenH8610(H8738) with the manner;
14 and the spirit of jealousy comes on him, and he is jealous of his wife and she is defiled; or if the spirit of jealousy comes on him, and he is jealous of his wife and she isn’t defiled;
KJVAnd the spiritH7307 of jealousyH7068 comeH5674(H8804) upon him, and he be jealousH7065(H8765) of his wifeH802, and she be defiledH2930(H8738): or if the spiritH7307 of jealousyH7068 comeH5674(H8804) upon him, and he be jealousH7065(H8765) of his wifeH802, and she be not defiledH2930(H8738):
15 then the man shall bring his wife to the priest, and shall bring her offering for her: one tenth of an ephah of barley meal. He shall pour no oil on it, nor put frankincense on it, for it is a meal offering of jealousy, a meal offering of memorial, bringing iniquity to memory.
KJVThen shall the manH376 bringH935(H8689) his wifeH802 unto the priestH3548, and he shall bringH935(H8689) her offeringH7133 for her, the tenthH6224 part of an ephahH374 of barleyH8184 mealH7058; he shall pourH3332(H8799) no oilH8081 upon it, nor putH5414(H8799) frankincenseH3828 thereon; for it is an offeringH4503 of jealousyH7068, an offeringH4503 of memorialH2146, bringingH2142 iniquityH5771 to remembranceH2142(H8688).
16 The priest shall bring her near, and set her before Yahweh.
KJVAnd the priestH3548 shall bring her nearH7126(H8689), and setH5975(H8689) her beforeH6440 the LORDH3068:
17 The priest shall take holy water in an earthen vessel; and the priest shall take some of the dust that is on the floor of the tabernacle and put it into the water.
KJVAnd the priestH3548 shall takeH3947(H8804) holyH6918 waterH4325 in an earthenH2789 vesselH3627; and of the dustH6083 that is in the floorH7172 of the tabernacleH4908 the priestH3548 shall takeH3947(H8799), and putH5414(H8804) it into the waterH4325:
18 The priest shall set the woman before Yahweh, and let the hair of the woman’s head go loose, and put the meal offering of memorial in her hands, which is the meal offering of jealousy. The priest shall have in his hand the water of bitterness that brings a curse.
KJVAnd the priestH3548 shall setH5975(H8689) the womanH802 beforeH6440 the LORDH3068, and uncoverH6544(H8804) the woman'sH802 headH7218, and putH5414(H8804) the offeringH4503 of memorialH2146 in her handsH3709, which is the jealousyH7068 offeringH4503: and the priestH3548 shall have in his handH3027 the bitterH4751 waterH4325 that causeth the curseH779(H8764):
19 The priest shall cause her to take an oath and shall tell the woman, “If no man has lain with you, and if you haven’t gone aside to uncleanness, being under your husband’s authority, be free from this water of bitterness that brings a curse.
KJVAnd the priestH3548 shall charge her by an oathH7650(H8689), and sayH559(H8804) unto the womanH802, If no manH376 have lainH7901(H8804) with thee, and if thou hast not gone asideH7847(H8804) to uncleannessH2932 with another instead of thy husbandH376, be thou freeH5352(H8734) from this bitterH4751 waterH4325 that causeth the curseH779(H8764):
20 But if you have gone astray, being under your husband’s authority, and if you are defiled, and some man has lain with you besides your husband—”
KJVBut if thou hast gone asideH7847(H8804) to another instead of thy husbandH376, and if thou be defiledH2930(H8738), and some manH376 haveH5414(H8799) lainH7903 with thee besideH1107 thine husbandH376:
21 then the priest shall cause the woman to swear with the oath of cursing, and the priest shall tell the woman, “May Yahweh make you a curse and an oath among your people, when Yahweh allows your thigh to fall away, and your body to swell;
KJVThen the priestH3548 shall chargeH7650(H8689) the womanH802 with an oathH7621 of cursingH423, and the priestH3548 shall sayH559(H8804) unto the womanH802, The LORDH3068 makeH5414(H8799) thee a curseH423 and an oathH7621 amongH8432 thy peopleH5971, when the LORDH3068 doth makeH5414(H8800) thy thighH3409 to rotH5307(H8802), and thy bellyH990 to swellH6639;
22 and this water that brings a curse will go into your bowels, and make your body swell, and your thigh fall away.” The woman shall say, “Amen, Amen.”
KJVAnd this waterH4325 that causeth the curseH779(H8764) shall goH935(H8804) into thy bowelsH4578, to make thy bellyH990 to swellH6638(H8687), and thy thighH3409 to rotH5307(H8687): And the womanH802 shall sayH559(H8804), AmenH543, amenH543.
23 “‘The priest shall write these curses in a book, and he shall wipe them into the water of bitterness.
KJVAnd the priestH3548 shall writeH3789(H8804) these cursesH423 in a bookH5612, and he shall blotH4229(H8804) them out with the bitterH4751 waterH4325:
24 He shall make the woman drink the water of bitterness that causes the curse; and the water that causes the curse shall enter into her and become bitter.
KJVAnd he shall cause the womanH802 to drinkH8248(H8689) the bitterH4751 waterH4325 that causeth the curseH779(H8764): and the waterH4325 that causeth the curseH779(H8764) shall enterH935(H8804) into her, and become bitterH4751.
25 The priest shall take the meal offering of jealousy out of the woman’s hand, and shall wave the meal offering before Yahweh, and bring it to the altar.
KJVThen the priestH3548 shall takeH3947(H8804) the jealousyH7068 offeringH4503 out of the woman'sH802 handH3027, and shall waveH5130(H8689) the offeringH4503 beforeH6440 the LORDH3068, and offerH7126(H8689) it upon the altarH4196:
26 The priest shall take a handful of the meal offering, as its memorial portion, and burn it on the altar, and afterward shall make the woman drink the water.
KJVAnd the priestH3548 shall take an handfulH7061(H8804) of the offeringH4503, even the memorialH234 thereof, and burnH6999(H8689) it upon the altarH4196, and afterwardH310 shall cause the womanH802 to drinkH8248(H8686) the waterH4325.
27 When he has made her drink the water, then it shall happen, if she is defiled and has committed a trespass against her husband, that the water that causes the curse will enter into her and become bitter, and her body will swell, and her thigh will fall away; and the woman will be a curse among her people.
KJVAnd when he hath made her to drinkH8248(H8689) the waterH4325, then it shall come to pass, that, if she be defiledH2930(H8738), and have doneH4603(H8799) trespassH4604 against her husbandH376, that the waterH4325 that causeth the curseH779(H8764) shall enterH935(H8804) into her, and become bitterH4751, and her bellyH990 shall swellH6638(H8804), and her thighH3409 shall rotH5307(H8804): and the womanH802 shall be a curseH423 amongH7130 her peopleH5971.
28 If the woman isn’t defiled, but is clean; then she shall be free, and shall conceive offspring.
KJVAnd if the womanH802 be not defiledH2930(H8738), but be cleanH2889; then she shall be freeH5352(H8738), and shall conceiveH2232(H8738) seedH2233.
29 “‘This is the law of jealousy, when a wife, being under her husband, goes astray, and is defiled,
KJVThis is the lawH8451 of jealousiesH7068, when a wifeH802 goeth asideH7847(H8799) to another instead of her husbandH376, and is defiledH2930(H8738);
30 or when the spirit of jealousy comes on a man, and he is jealous of his wife; then he shall set the woman before Yahweh, and the priest shall execute on her all this law.
KJVOr when the spiritH7307 of jealousyH7068 comethH5674(H8799) upon himH376, and he be jealousH7065(H8765) over his wifeH802, and shall setH5975(H8689) the womanH802 beforeH6440 the LORDH3068, and the priestH3548 shall executeH6213(H8804) upon her all this lawH8451.
31 The man shall be free from iniquity, and that woman shall bear her iniquity.’”
KJVThen shall the manH376 be guiltlessH5352(H8738) from iniquityH5771, and thisH1931 womanH802 shall bearH5375(H8799) her iniquityH5771.
