WEB·Luke 15
1Now all the tax collectors and sinners were coming close to him to hear him.
KJVThenG1161 drew nearG2258(G5713)G1448(G5723) unto himG846 allG3956 the publicansG5057 andG2532 sinnersG268 for to hearG191(G5721) himG846.
2 The Pharisees and the scribes murmured, saying, “This man welcomes sinners, and eats with them.”
KJVAndG2532 the PhariseesG5330 andG2532 scribesG1122 murmuredG1234(G5707), sayingG3004(G5723), This manG3754G3778 receivethG4327(G5736) sinnersG268, andG2532 eatethG4906(G5719) with themG846.
3 He told them this parable:
KJVAndG1161 he spakeG2036(G5627) thisG5026 parableG3850 untoG4314 themG846, sayingG3004(G5723),
4 “Which of you men, if you had one hundred sheep and lost one of them, wouldn’t leave the ninety-nine in the wilderness and go after the one that was lost, until he found it?
KJVWhatG5101 manG444 ofG1537 youG5216, havingG2192(G5723) an hundredG1540 sheepG4263, ifG2532 he loseG622(G5660) oneG1520 ofG1537 themG846, dothG2641 notG3756 leaveG2641(G5719) the ninety and nineG1768 inG1722 the wildernessG2048, andG2532 goG4198(G5736) afterG1909 that which is lostG622(G5756), untilG2193 he findG2147(G5632) itG846?
5 When he has found it, he carries it on his shoulders, rejoicing.
KJVAndG2532 when he hath foundG2147(G5631) it, he layethG2007(G5719) it onG1909 hisG1438 shouldersG5606, rejoicingG5463(G5723).
6 When he comes home, he calls together his friends and his neighbors, saying to them, ‘Rejoice with me, for I have found my sheep which was lost!’
KJVAndG2532 when he comethG2064(G5631)G1519 homeG3624, he calleth togetherG4779(G5719) his friendsG5384 andG2532 neighboursG1069, sayingG3004(G5723) unto themG846, RejoiceG4796(G5645) with meG3427; forG3754 I have foundG2147(G5627) myG3450 sheepG4263 whichG3588 was lostG622(G5756).
7 I tell you that even so there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents, than over ninety-nine righteous people who need no repentance.
KJVI sayG3004(G5719) unto youG5213, thatG3754 likewiseG3779 joyG5479 shall beG2071(G5704) inG1722 heavenG3772 overG1909 oneG1520 sinnerG268 that repentethG3340(G5723), more thanG2228 overG1909 ninety and nineG1768 just personsG1342, whichG3748 needG2192(G5719)G5532 noG3756 repentanceG3341.
8 “Or what woman, if she had ten drachma coins, if she lost one drachma coin, wouldn’t light a lamp, sweep the house, and seek diligently until she found it?
KJVEitherG2228 whatG5101 womanG1135 havingG2192(G5723) tenG1176 pieces of silverG1406, ifG1437 she loseG622(G5661) oneG3391 pieceG1406, doth notG3780 lightG681(G5719) a candleG3088, andG2532 sweepG4563(G5719) the houseG3614, andG2532 seekG2212(G5719) diligentlyG1960 tillG2193G3755 she findG2147(G5632) it?
9 When she has found it, she calls together her friends and neighbors, saying, ‘Rejoice with me, for I have found the drachma which I had lost!’
KJVAndG2532 when she hath foundG2147(G5631) it, she callethG4779 her friendsG5384 andG2532 her neighboursG1069 togetherG4779(G5731), sayingG3004(G5723), RejoiceG4796(G5645) with meG3427; forG3754 I have foundG2147(G5627) the pieceG1406 whichG3739 I had lostG622(G5656).
10 Even so, I tell you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner repenting.”
KJVLikewiseG3779, I sayG3004(G5719) unto youG5213, there isG1096(G5736) joyG5479 in the presenceG1799 of the angelsG32 of GodG2316 overG1909 oneG1520 sinnerG268 that repentethG3340(G5723).
11 He said, “A certain man had two sons.
KJVAndG1161 he saidG2036(G5627), A certainG5100 manG444 hadG2192(G5707) twoG1417 sonsG5207:
12 The younger of them said to his father, ‘Father, give me my share of your property.’ So he divided his livelihood between them.
KJVAndG2532 the youngerG3501 of themG846 saidG2036(G5627) to his fatherG3962, FatherG3962, giveG1325(G5628) meG3427 the portionG3313 of goodsG3776 that fallethG1911(G5723) to me. AndG2532 he dividedG1244(G5627) unto themG846 his livingG979.
13 Not many days after, the younger son gathered all of this together and traveled into a far country. There he wasted his property with riotous living.
KJVAndG2532 notG3756 manyG4183 daysG2250 afterG3326 the youngerG3501 sonG5207 gatheredG4863 allG537 togetherG4863(G5631), and took his journeyG589(G5656) intoG1519 a farG3117 countryG5561, andG2532 thereG1563 wastedG1287(G5656) hisG846 substanceG3776 with riotousG811 livingG2198(G5723).
14 When he had spent all of it, there arose a severe famine in that country, and he began to be in need.
KJVAndG1161 when heG846 had spentG1159(G5660) allG3956, there aroseG1096(G5633) a mightyG2478 famineG3042 inG2596 thatG1565 landG5561; andG2532 heG846 beganG756(G5662) to be in wantG5302(G5745).
15 He went and joined himself to one of the citizens of that country, and he sent him into his fields to feed pigs.
KJVAndG2532 he wentG4198(G5679) and joined himselfG2853(G5681) toG1520 a citizenG4177 of thatG1565 countryG5561; andG2532 he sentG3992(G5656) himG846 intoG1519 hisG846 fieldsG68 to feedG1006(G5721) swineG5519.
16 He wanted to fill his belly with the pods that the pigs ate, but no one gave him any.
KJVAndG2532 he would fainG1937(G5707) have filledG1072(G5658) hisG846 bellyG2836 withG575 the husksG2769 thatG3739 the swineG5519 did eatG2068(G5707): andG2532 no manG3762 gaveG1325(G5707) unto himG846.
17 But when he came to himself, he said, ‘How many hired servants of my father’s have bread enough to spare, and I’m dying with hunger!
KJVAndG1161 when he cameG2064(G5631) toG1519 himselfG1438, he saidG2036(G5627), How manyG4214 hired servantsG3407 of myG3450 father'sG3962 have breadG740 enough and to spareG4052(G5719), andG1161 IG1473 perishG622(G5731) with hungerG3042!
18 I will get up and go to my father, and will tell him, “Father, I have sinned against heaven and in your sight.
KJVI will ariseG450(G5631) and goG4198(G5695) toG4314 myG3450 fatherG3962, andG2532 will sayG2046(G5692) unto himG846, FatherG3962, I have sinnedG264(G5627) againstG1519 heavenG3772, andG2532 beforeG1799 theeG4675,
19 I am no more worthy to be called your son. Make me as one of your hired servants.”’
KJVAndG2532 amG1510(G5748) no moreG3765 worthyG514 to be calledG2564(G5683) thyG4675 sonG5207: makeG4160(G5657) meG3165 asG5613 oneG1520 of thyG4675 hired servantsG3407.
20 “He arose and came to his father. But while he was still far off, his father saw him and was moved with compassion, and ran, fell on his neck, and kissed him.
KJVAndG2532 he aroseG450(G5631), and cameG2064(G5627) toG4314 hisG1438 fatherG3962. ButG1161 when heG846 was yetG2089 a great wayG3112 offG568(G5723), hisG846 fatherG3962 sawG1492(G5627) himG846, andG2532 had compassionG4697(G5675), andG2532 ranG5143(G5631), and fellG1968(G5627) onG1909 hisG846 neckG5137, andG2532 kissedG2705(G5656) himG846.
21 The son said to him, ‘Father, I have sinned against heaven and in your sight. I am no longer worthy to be called your son.’
KJVAndG1161 the sonG5207 saidG2036(G5627) unto himG846, FatherG3962, I have sinnedG264(G5627) againstG1519 heavenG3772, andG2532 inG1799 thyG4675 sightG1799, andG2532 amG1510(G5748) no moreG3765 worthyG514 to be calledG2564(G5683) thyG4675 sonG5207.
22 “But the father said to his servants, ‘Bring out the best robe and put it on him. Put a ring on his hand and sandals on his feet.
KJVButG1161 the fatherG3962 saidG2036(G5627) toG4314 hisG846 servantsG1401, Bring forthG1627(G5657) the bestG4413 robeG4749, andG2532 put it onG1746(G5657) himG846; andG2532 putG1325(G5628) a ringG1146 onG1519 hisG846 handG5495, andG2532 shoesG5266 onG1519 his feetG4228:
23 Bring the fattened calf, kill it, and let’s eat and celebrate;
KJVAndG2532 bring hitherG5342(G5660) the fattedG4618 calfG3448, and killG2380(G5657) it; andG2532 let us eatG5315(G5631), and be merryG2165(G5686):
24 for this, my son, was dead and is alive again. He was lost and is found.’ Then they began to celebrate.
KJVForG3754 thisG3778 myG3450 sonG5207 wasG2258(G5713) deadG3498, andG2532 is alive againG326(G5656);G2532 he wasG2258(G5713) lostG622(G5756), andG2532 is foundG2147(G5681). AndG2532 they beganG756(G5662) to be merryG2165(G5745).
25 “Now his elder son was in the field. As he came near to the house, he heard music and dancing.
KJVNowG1161 hisG846 elderG4245 sonG5207 wasG2258(G5713) inG1722 the fieldG68: andG2532 asG5613 he cameG2064(G5740) and drew nighG1448(G5656) to the houseG3614, he heardG191(G5656) musickG4858 andG2532 dancingG5525.
26 He called one of the servants to him and asked what was going on.
KJVAndG2532 he calledG4341(G5666) oneG1520 of the servantsG3816, and askedG4441(G5711) whatG5101 these thingsG5023 meantG1498(G5751).
27 He said to him, ‘Your brother has come, and your father has killed the fattened calf, because he has received him back safe and healthy.’
KJVAndG1161 he saidG2036(G5627) unto himG846,G3754 ThyG4675 brotherG80 is comeG2240(G5719); andG2532 thyG4675 fatherG3962 hath killedG2380(G5656) the fattedG4618 calfG3448, becauseG3754 he hath receivedG618(G5627) himG846 safe and soundG5198(G5723).
28 But he was angry and would not go in. Therefore his father came out and begged him.
KJVAndG1161 he was angryG3710(G5681), andG2532 wouldG2309(G5707) notG3756 go inG1525(G5629): thereforeG3767 cameG1831 hisG846 fatherG3962 outG1831(G5631), and intreatedG3870(G5707) himG846.
29 But he answered his father, ‘Behold, these many years I have served you, and I never disobeyed a commandment of yours, but you never gave me a goat, that I might celebrate with my friends.
KJVAndG1161 he answeringG611(G5679) saidG2036(G5627) to his fatherG3962, LoG2400(G5628), these manyG5118 yearsG2094 do I serveG1398(G5719) theeG4671, neitherG3763 transgressed IG3928(G5627) at any timeG3763 thyG4675 commandmentG1785: andG2532 yetG2532 thouG1325 neverG3763 gavestG1325(G5656) meG1698 a kidG2056, thatG2443 I might make merryG2165(G5686) withG3326 myG3450 friendsG5384:
