1Saul was consenting to his death. A great persecution arose against the assembly which was in Jerusalem in that day. They were all scattered abroad throughout the regions of Judea and Samaria, except for the apostles.
KJVAndG1161 SaulG4569 wasG2258(G5713) consentingG4909(G5723) unto hisG846 deathG336. AndG1161 atG1722 thatG1565 timeG2250 there wasG1096(G5633) a greatG3173 persecutionG1375 againstG1909 the churchG1577 whichG3588 was atG1722 JerusalemG2414; andG5037 they wereG1289 allG3956 scattered abroadG1289(G5681) throughoutG2596 the regionsG5561 of JudaeaG2449 andG2532 SamariaG4540, exceptG4133 the apostlesG652.
2 Devout men buried Stephen and lamented greatly over him.
KJVAndG1161 devoutG2126 menG435 carriedG4792(G5656) StephenG4736 to his burial, andG2532 madeG4160(G5668) greatG3173 lamentationG2870 overG1909 himG846.
3 But Saul ravaged the assembly, entering into every house and dragged both men and women off to prison.
KJVAsG1161 for SaulG4569, he made havockG3075(G5711) of the churchG1577, entering intoG1531(G5740) everyG2596 houseG3624, and halingG4951(G5723)G5037 menG435 andG2532 womenG1135 committedG3860(G5707) them toG1519 prisonG5438.
4 Therefore those who were scattered abroad went around preaching the word.
KJVThereforeG3767G3303 they that were scattered abroadG1289(G5651) went every whereG1330(G5627) preachingG2097(G5734) the wordG3056.
5 Philip went down to the city of Samaria and proclaimed to them the Christ.
KJVThenG1161 PhilipG5376 went downG2718(G5631) toG1519 the cityG4172 of SamariaG4540, and preachedG2784(G5707) ChristG5547 unto themG846.
6 The multitudes listened with one accord to the things that were spoken by Philip when they heard and saw the signs which he did.
KJVAndG5037 the peopleG3793 with one accordG3661 gave heedG4337(G5707) unto those things which PhilipG5376 spakeG3004(G5746)G5259, hearingG1722G191(G5721)G846 andG2532 seeingG991(G5721) the miraclesG4592 whichG3739 he didG4160(G5707).
7 For unclean spirits came out of many of those who had them. They came out, crying with a loud voice. Many who had been paralyzed and lame were healed.
KJVForG1063 uncleanG169 spiritsG4151, cryingG994(G5723) with loudG3173 voiceG5456, came outG1831(G5711) of manyG4183 that were possessedG2192(G5723) with them: andG1161 manyG4183 taken with palsiesG3886(G5772), andG2532 that were lameG5560, were healedG2323(G5681).
8 There was great joy in that city.
KJVAndG2532 there wasG1096(G5633) greatG3173 joyG5479 inG1722 thatG1565 cityG4172.
9 But there was a certain man, Simon by name, who used to practice sorcery in the city and amazed the people of Samaria, making himself out to be some great one,
KJVButG1161 there was a certainG5100 manG435, calledG3686 SimonG4613, which beforetimeG4391(G5707) inG1722 the same cityG4172 used sorceryG3096(G5723), andG2532 bewitchedG1839(G5723) the peopleG1484 of SamariaG4540, giving outG3004(G5723) that himselfG1438 wasG1511(G5750) someG5100 great oneG3173:
10 to whom they all listened, from the least to the greatest, saying, “This man is that great power of God.”
KJVTo whomG3739 they allG3956 gave heedG4337(G5707), fromG575 the leastG3398 toG2193 the greatestG3173, sayingG3004(G5723), This manG3778 isG2076(G5748) the greatG3173 powerG1411 of GodG2316.
11 They listened to him because for a long time he had amazed them with his sorceries.
KJVAndG1161 to himG846 they had regardG4337(G5707), becauseG1223 that of longG2425 timeG5550 he had bewitchedG1839(G5760) themG846 with sorceriesG3095.

KJVButG1161 whenG3753 they believedG4100(G5656) PhilipG5376 preachingG2097(G5734) the things concerningG4012 the kingdomG932 of GodG2316, andG2532 the nameG3686 of JesusG2424 ChristG5547, they were baptizedG907(G5712), bothG5037 menG435 andG2532 womenG1135.
13 Simon himself also believed. Being baptized, he continued with Philip. Seeing signs and great miracles occurring, he was amazed.
KJVThenG1161 SimonG4613 himselfG846 believedG4100(G5656) alsoG2532: andG2532 when he was baptizedG907(G5685), he continuedG2258(G5713)G4342(G5723) with PhilipG5376, andG5037 wonderedG1839(G5710), beholdingG2334(G5723) the miraclesG1411 andG2532 signsG4592G3173 which were doneG1096(G5740)(G5625)G1096(G5740).
14 Now when the apostles who were at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent Peter and John to them,
KJVNowG1161 when the apostlesG652 whichG3588 were atG1722 JerusalemG2414 heardG191(G5660) thatG3754 SamariaG4540 had receivedG1209(G5766) the wordG3056 of GodG2316, they sentG649(G5656) untoG4314 themG846 PeterG4074 andG2532 JohnG2491:
15 who, when they had come down, prayed for them, that they might receive the Holy Spirit;
KJVWhoG3748, when they were come downG2597(G5631), prayedG4336(G5662) forG4012 themG846, thatG3704 they might receiveG2983(G5632) the HolyG40 GhostG4151:
16 for as yet he had fallen on none of them. They had only been baptized in the name of Christ Jesus.
KJV(ForG1063 as yetG3768 he wasG2258(G5713) fallenG1968(G5761) uponG1909 noneG3762 of themG846: onlyG3440G1161 they wereG5225(G5707) baptizedG907(G5772) inG1519 the nameG3686 of the LordG2962 JesusG2424.)
17 Then they laid their hands on them, and they received the Holy Spirit.
KJVThenG5119 laid theyG2007(G5707) their handsG5495 onG1909 themG846, andG2532 they receivedG2983(G5707) the HolyG40 GhostG4151.
18 Now when Simon saw that the Holy Spirit was given through the laying on of the apostles’ hands, he offered them money,
KJVAndG1161 when SimonG4613 sawG2300(G5666) thatG3754 throughG1223 laying onG1936 of the apostlesG652' handsG5495 the HolyG40 GhostG4151 was givenG1325(G5743), he offeredG4374(G5656) themG846 moneyG5536,
19 saying, “Give me also this power, that whomever I lay my hands on may receive the Holy Spirit.”
KJVSayingG3004(G5723), GiveG1325(G5628) me alsoG2504 thisG5026 powerG1849, thatG2443 onG2007 whomsoeverG3739G1437 I layG2007(G5632) handsG5495, he may receiveG2983(G5725) the HolyG40 GhostG4151.
20 But Peter said to him, “May your silver perish with you, because you thought you could obtain the gift of God with money!

21 You have neither part nor lot in this matter, for your heart isn’t right before God.
KJVThouG4671 hastG2076(G5748) neitherG3756 partG3310 norG3761 lotG2819 inG1722 thisG5129 matterG3056: forG1063 thyG4675 heartG2588 isG2076(G5748) notG3756 rightG2117 in the sightG1799 of GodG2316.
22 Repent therefore of this, your wickedness, and ask God if perhaps the thought of your heart may be forgiven you.
KJVRepentG3340(G5657) thereforeG3767 ofG575 thisG5026 thyG4675 wickednessG2549, andG2532 prayG1189(G5676) GodG2316, ifG1487 perhapsG686 the thoughtG1963 of thineG4675 heartG2588 may be forgivenG863(G5701) theeG4671.
23 For I see that you are in the poison of bitterness and in the bondage of iniquity.”
KJVForG1063 I perceiveG3708(G5719) that thouG4571 artG5607(G5752) inG1519 the gallG5521 of bitternessG4088, andG2532 in the bondG4886 of iniquityG93.
24 Simon answered, “Pray for me to the Lord, that none of the things which you have spoken happen to me.”
KJVThenG1161 answeredG611(G5679) SimonG4613, and saidG2036(G5627), PrayG1189(G5676) yeG5210 toG4314 the LordG2962 forG5228 meG1700, thatG3704 none of these thingsG3367 whichG3739 ye have spokenG2046(G5758) comeG1904(G5632) uponG1909 meG1691.

26 Then an angel of the Lord spoke to Philip, saying, “Arise, and go toward the south to the way that goes down from Jerusalem to Gaza. This is a desert.”
KJVAndG1161 the angelG32 of the LordG2962 spakeG2980(G5656) untoG4314 PhilipG5376, sayingG3004(G5723), AriseG450(G5628), andG2532 goG4198(G5737) towardG2596 the southG3314 untoG1909 the wayG3598 that goeth downG2597(G5723) fromG575 JerusalemG2419 untoG1519 GazaG1048, whichG3778 isG2076(G5748) desertG2048.

KJVAndG2532 he aroseG450(G5631) and wentG4198(G5675): andG2532, beholdG2400(G5628), a manG435 of EthiopiaG128, an eunuchG2135 of great authorityG1413 under CandaceG2582 queenG938 of the EthiopiansG128, whoG3739 hadG2258(G5713) the charge ofG1909 allG3956 herG846 treasureG1047, andG3739 had comeG2064(G5715) toG1519 JerusalemG2419 for to worshipG4352(G5694),
28 He was returning and sitting in his chariot, and was reading the prophet Isaiah.
KJVG5037 WasG2258(G5713) returningG5290(G5723), andG2532 sittingG2521(G5740) inG1909 hisG846 chariotG716G2532 readG314(G5707) EsaiasG2268 the prophetG4396.
29 The Spirit said to Philip, “Go near, and join yourself to this chariot.”
KJVThenG1161 the SpiritG4151 saidG2036(G5627) unto PhilipG5376, Go nearG4334(G5628), andG2532 join thyself toG2853(G5682) thisG5129 chariotG716.
30 Philip ran to him, and heard him reading Isaiah the prophet, and said, “Do you understand what you are reading?”

31 He said, “How can I, unless someone explains it to me?” He begged Philip to come up and sit with him.
KJVAndG1161 he saidG2036(G5627), HowG1063G4459 can IG302G1410(G5739), exceptG3362 some manG5100 should guideG3594(G5661) meG3165? AndG5037 he desiredG3870(G5656) PhilipG5376 that he would come upG305(G5631) and sitG2523(G5658) withG4862 himG846.
32 Now the passage of the Scripture which he was reading was this, “He was led as a sheep to the slaughter. As a lamb before his shearer is silent, so he doesn’t open his mouth.
KJVG1161 The placeG4042 of the scriptureG1124 whichG3739 he readG314(G5707) wasG2258(G5713) thisG3778, He was ledG71(G5681) asG5613 a sheepG4263 toG1909 the slaughterG4967; andG2532 likeG5613 a lambG286 dumbG880 beforeG1726 hisG846 shearerG2751(G5723), soG3779 opened heG455(G5719) notG3756 hisG846 mouthG4750:

KJVInG1722 hisG846 humiliationG5014 hisG846 judgmentG2920 was taken awayG142(G5681): andG1161 whoG5101 shall declareG1334(G5695) hisG846 generationG1074? forG3754 hisG846 lifeG2222 is takenG142(G5743) fromG575 the earthG1093.
34 The eunuch answered Philip, “Who is the prophet talking about? About himself, or about someone else?”
KJVAndG1161 the eunuchG2135 answeredG611(G5679) PhilipG5376, and saidG2036(G5627), I prayG1189(G5736) theeG4675, ofG4012 whomG5101 speakethG3004(G5719) the prophetG4396 thisG5124? ofG4012 himselfG1438, orG2228 ofG4012 someG5100 other manG2087?

KJVThenG1161 PhilipG5376 openedG455(G5660) hisG846 mouthG4750, andG2532 beganG756(G5671) atG575 the sameG5026 scriptureG1124, and preachedG2097(G5668) unto himG846 JesusG2424.
36 As they went on the way, they came to some water; and the eunuch said, “Behold, here is water. What is keeping me from being baptized?”
KJVAndG1161 asG5613 they wentG4198(G5711) onG2596 their wayG3598, they cameG2064(G5627) untoG1909 a certainG5100 waterG5204: andG2532 the eunuchG2135 saidG5346(G5748), SeeG2400(G5628), here is waterG5204; whatG5101 doth hinderG2967(G5719) meG3165 to be baptizedG907(G5683)?

38 He commanded the chariot to stand still, and they both went down into the water, both Philip and the eunuch, and he baptized him.
KJVAndG2532 he commandedG2753(G5656) the chariotG716 to stand stillG2476(G5629): andG2532 they went downG2597(G5627) bothG297 intoG1519 the waterG5204, bothG5037 PhilipG5376 andG2532 the eunuchG2135; andG2532 he baptizedG907(G5656) himG846.
39 When they came up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord caught Philip away, and the eunuch didn’t see him any more, for he went on his way rejoicing.
KJVAndG1161 whenG3753 they were come upG305(G5627) out ofG1537 the waterG5204, the SpiritG4151 of the LordG2962 caught awayG726(G5656) PhilipG5376,G2532 that the eunuchG2135 sawG1492(G5627)G3756 himG846 no moreG3765: andG1063 he wentG4198(G5711) on hisG846 wayG3598 rejoicingG5463(G5723).
