Romans 5
WEB·Romans 5
1Being therefore justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ;
KJVThereforeG3767 being justifiedG1344(G5685) byG1537 faithG4102, we haveG2192(G5719) peaceG1515 withG4314 GodG2316 throughG1223 ourG2257 LordG2962 JesusG2424 ChristG5547:
2 through whom we also have our access by faith into this grace in which we stand. We rejoice in hope of the glory of God.
KJVByG1223 whomG3739 alsoG2532 we haveG2192(G5758) accessG4318 by faithG4102 intoG1519 thisG5026 graceG5485 whereinG1722G3739 we standG2476(G5758), andG2532 rejoiceG2744(G5736) inG1909 hopeG1680 of the gloryG1391 of GodG2316.
3 Not only this, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces perseverance;
KJVAndG1161 notG3756 onlyG3440 so, butG235 we gloryG2744(G5736) inG1722 tribulationsG2347 alsoG2532: knowingG1492(G5761) thatG3754 tribulationG2347 workethG2716(G5736) patienceG5281;
4 and perseverance, proven character; and proven character, hope;
KJVAndG1161 patienceG5281, experienceG1382; andG1161 experienceG1382, hopeG1680:
5 and hope doesn’t disappoint us, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us.
KJVAndG1161 hopeG1680 makethG2617 notG3756 ashamedG2617(G5719); becauseG3754 the loveG26 of GodG2316 is shed abroadG1632(G5769) inG1722 ourG2257 heartsG2588 byG1223 the HolyG40 GhostG4151 whichG3588 is givenG1325(G5685) unto usG2254.
6 For while we were yet weak, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly.
KJVForG1063 when weG2257 wereG5607(G5752) yetG2089 without strengthG772, in dueG2596 timeG2540 ChristG5547 diedG599(G5627) forG5228 the ungodlyG765.
7 For one will hardly die for a righteous man. Yet perhaps for a good person someone would even dare to die.
KJVForG1063 scarcelyG3433 forG5228 a righteous manG1342 willG599 oneG5100 dieG599(G5695): yetG1063 peradventureG5029 forG5228 a good manG18 someG5100 wouldG5111 evenG2532 dareG5111(G5719) to dieG599(G5629).
8 But God commends his own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
KJVButG1161 GodG2316 commendethG4921(G5719) hisG1438 loveG26 towardG1519 usG2248, in thatG3754, while weG2257 wereG5607(G5752) yetG2089 sinnersG268, ChristG5547 diedG599(G5627) forG5228 usG2257.
9 Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we will be saved from God’s wrath through him.
KJVMuchG4183 moreG3123 thenG3767, beingG1344 nowG3568 justifiedG1344(G5685) byG1722 hisG846 bloodG129, we shall be savedG4982(G5701) fromG575 wrathG3709 throughG1223 himG846.
10 For if while we were enemies, we were reconciled to God through the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we will be saved by his life.
KJVForG1063 ifG1487, when we wereG5607(G5752) enemiesG2190, we were reconciledG2644(G5648) to GodG2316 byG1223 the deathG2288 of hisG846 SonG5207, muchG4183 moreG3123, being reconciledG2644(G5651), we shall be savedG4982(G5701) byG1722 hisG846 lifeG2222.
11 Not only so, but we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received the reconciliation.
KJVAndG1161 notG3756 onlyG3440 so, butG235 we alsoG2532 joyG2744(G5740) inG1722 GodG2316 throughG1223 ourG2257 LordG2962 JesusG2424 ChristG5547, byG1223 whomG3739 we haveG2983 nowG3568 receivedG2983(G5627) the atonementG2643.
12 Therefore, as sin entered into the world through one man, and death through sin, so death passed to all men because all sinned.
KJVWhereforeG1223G5124, asG5618 byG1223 oneG1520 manG444 sinG266 enteredG1525(G5627) intoG1519 the worldG2889, andG2532 deathG2288 byG1223 sinG266; andG2532 soG3779 deathG2288 passedG1330(G5627) uponG1519 allG3956 menG444, forG1909 thatG3739 allG3956 have sinnedG264(G5627):
13 For until the law, sin was in the world; but sin is not charged when there is no law.
KJV(ForG1063 untilG891 the lawG3551 sinG266 wasG2258(G5713) inG1722 the worldG2889: butG1161 sinG266 isG1677 notG3756 imputedG1677(G5743) when there isG5607(G5752) noG3361 lawG3551.
14 Nevertheless death reigned from Adam until Moses, even over those whose sins weren’t like Adam’s disobedience, who is a foreshadowing of him who was to come.
KJVNeverthelessG235 deathG2288 reignedG936(G5656) fromG575 AdamG76 toG3360 MosesG3475, evenG2532 overG1909 them that hadG264 notG3361 sinnedG264(G5660) afterG1909 the similitudeG3667 of Adam'sG76 transgressionG3847, whoG3739 isG2076(G5748) the figureG5179 of him that was to comeG3195(G5723).
15 But the free gift isn’t like the trespass. For if by the trespass of the one the many died, much more did the grace of God and the gift by the grace of the one man, Jesus Christ, abound to the many.
KJVButG235 notG3756 asG5613 the offenceG3900, soG3779 alsoG2532 is the free giftG5486. ForG1063 ifG1487 through the offenceG3900 of oneG1520 manyG4183 be deadG599(G5627), muchG4183 moreG3123 the graceG5485 of GodG2316, andG2532 the giftG1431 byG1722 graceG5485, which isG3588 by oneG1520 manG444, JesusG2424 ChristG5547, hath aboundedG4052(G5656) untoG1519 manyG4183.
16 The gift is not as through one who sinned; for the judgment came by one to condemnation, but the free gift followed many trespasses to justification.
KJVAndG2532 notG3756 asG5613 it was byG1223 oneG1520 that sinnedG264(G5660), so is the giftG1434: forG1063G3303 the judgmentG2917 was byG1537 oneG1520 toG1519 condemnationG2631, butG1161 the free giftG5486 is ofG1537 manyG4183 offencesG3900 untoG1519 justificationG1345.
17 For if by the trespass of the one, death reigned through the one; so much more will those who receive the abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness reign in life through the one, Jesus Christ.
KJVForG1063 ifG1487 by one man'sG1520 offenceG3900 deathG2288 reignedG936(G5656) byG1223 oneG1520; muchG4183 moreG3123 they which receiveG2983(G5723) abundanceG4050 of graceG5485 andG2532 of the giftG1431 of righteousnessG1343 shall reignG936(G5692) inG1722 lifeG2222 byG1223 oneG1520, JesusG2424 ChristG5547.)
18 So then as through one trespass, all men were condemned; even so through one act of righteousness, all men were justified to life.
KJVThereforeG686G3767 asG5613 byG1223 the offenceG3900 of oneG1520 judgment came uponG1519 allG3956 menG444 toG1519 condemnationG2631; evenG2532 soG3779 byG1223 the righteousnessG1345 of oneG1520 the free gift came uponG1519 allG3956 menG444 untoG1519 justificationG1347 of lifeG2222.
19 For as through the one man’s disobedience many were made sinners, even so through the obedience of the one, many will be made righteous.
KJVForG1063 asG5618 byG1223 oneG1520 man'sG444 disobedienceG3876 manyG4183 were madeG2525(G5681) sinnersG268, soG3779G2532 byG1223 the obedienceG5218 of oneG1520 shallG2525 manyG4183 be madeG2525(G5701) righteousG1342.
20 The law came in that the trespass might abound; but where sin abounded, grace abounded more exceedingly,
KJVMoreoverG1161 the lawG3551 enteredG3922(G5627), thatG2443 the offenceG3900 might aboundG4121(G5661). ButG1161 whereG3757 sinG266 aboundedG4121(G5656), graceG5485 did much more aboundG5248(G5656):
21 that as sin reigned in death, even so grace might reign through righteousness to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
KJVThatG2443 asG5618 sinG266 hath reignedG936(G5656) untoG1722 deathG2288, evenG2532 soG3779 mightG936 graceG5485 reignG936(G5661) throughG1223 righteousnessG1343 untoG1519 eternalG166 lifeG2222 byG1223 JesusG2424 ChristG5547 ourG2257 LordG2962.
