Romans 6
WEB·Romans 6
1What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?
KJVWhatG5101 shall we sayG2046(G5692) thenG3767? Shall we continueG1961(G5692) in sinG266, thatG2443 graceG5485 may aboundG4121(G5661)?
2 May it never be! We who died to sin, how could we live in it any longer?
KJVGod forbidG3361G1096(G5636). HowG4459 shall we, thatG3748 are deadG599(G5627) to sinG266, liveG2198(G5692) any longerG2089 thereinG1722G846?
3 Or don’t you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death?
KJVG2228 Know ye notG50(G5719), that soG3754 many of usG3745 as were baptizedG907(G5681) intoG1519 JesusG2424 ChristG5547 were baptizedG907(G5681) intoG1519 hisG846 deathG2288?
4 We were buried therefore with him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, so we also might walk in newness of life.
KJVThereforeG3767 we are buried withG4916(G5648) himG846 byG1223 baptismG908 intoG1519 deathG2288: thatG2443 like asG5618 ChristG5547 was raised upG1453(G5681) fromG1537 the deadG3498 byG1223 the gloryG1391 of the FatherG3962, even soG3779 weG2249 alsoG2532 should walkG4043(G5661) inG1722 newnessG2538 of lifeG2222.
5 For if we have become united with him in the likeness of his death, we will also be part of his resurrection;
KJVForG1063 ifG1487 we have beenG1096(G5754) planted togetherG4854 in the likenessG3667 of hisG846 deathG2288, we shall beG2071(G5704) alsoG235G2532 in the likeness of his resurrectionG386:
6 knowing this, that our old man was crucified with him, that the body of sin might be done away with, so that we would no longer be in bondage to sin.
KJVKnowingG1097(G5723) thisG5124, thatG3754 ourG2257 oldG3820 manG444 is crucified withG4957(G5681) him, thatG2443 the bodyG4983 of sinG266 might be destroyedG2673(G5686), that henceforthG3371 weG2248 shouldG1398 notG3371 serveG1398(G5721) sinG266.
7 For he who has died has been freed from sin.
KJVForG1063 he that is deadG599(G5631) is freedG1344(G5769) fromG575 sinG266.
8 But if we died with Christ, we believe that we will also live with him,
KJVNowG1161 ifG1487 we be deadG599(G5627) withG4862 ChristG5547, we believeG4100(G5719) thatG3754 we shallG4800 alsoG2532 liveG4800(G5692) with himG846:
9 knowing that Christ, being raised from the dead, dies no more. Death no longer has dominion over him!
KJVKnowingG1492(G5761) thatG3754 ChristG5547 being raisedG1453(G5685) fromG1537 the deadG3498 diethG599(G5719) no moreG3765; deathG2288 hathG2961 no moreG3765 dominion overG2961(G5719) himG846.
10 For the death that he died, he died to sin one time; but the life that he lives, he lives to God.
KJVForG3739G1063 in that he diedG599(G5627), he diedG599(G5627) unto sinG266 onceG2178: butG1161 in thatG3739 he livethG2198(G5719), he livethG2198(G5719) unto GodG2316.
11 Thus consider yourselves also to be dead to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus our Lord.
KJVLikewiseG3779 reckonG3049(G5737) yeG5210 alsoG2532 yourselvesG1438 to beG1511(G5750) deadG3498 indeedG3303 unto sinG266, butG1161 aliveG2198(G5723) unto GodG2316 throughG1722 JesusG2424 ChristG5547 ourG2257 LordG2962.
12 Therefore don’t let sin reign in your mortal body, that you should obey it in its lusts.
KJVLetG936 notG3361 sinG266 thereforeG3767 reignG936(G5720) inG1722 yourG5216 mortalG2349 bodyG4983, thatG1519 ye should obeyG5219(G5721) itG846 inG1722 the lustsG1939 thereofG846.
13 Also, do not present your members to sin as instruments of unrighteousness, but present yourselves to God as alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness to God.
KJVNeitherG3366 yield yeG3936(G5720) yourG5216 membersG3196 as instrumentsG3696 of unrighteousnessG93 unto sinG266: butG235 yieldG3936(G5657) yourselvesG1438 unto GodG2316, asG5613 those that are aliveG2198(G5723) fromG1537 the deadG3498, andG2532 yourG5216 membersG3196 as instrumentsG3696 of righteousnessG1343 unto GodG2316.
14 For sin will not have dominion over you, for you are not under law, but under grace.
KJVForG1063 sinG266 shallG2961 notG3756 have dominion overG2961(G5692) youG5216: forG1063 ye areG2075(G5748) notG3756 underG5259 the lawG3551, butG235 underG5259 graceG5485.
15 What then? Shall we sin because we are not under law but under grace? May it never be!
KJVWhatG5101 thenG3767? shall we sinG264(G5692), becauseG3754 we areG2070(G5748) notG3756 underG5259 the lawG3551, butG235 underG5259 graceG5485? God forbidG3361G1096(G5636).
16 Don’t you know that when you present yourselves as servants and obey someone, you are the servants of whomever you obey, whether of sin to death, or of obedience to righteousness?
KJVKnow yeG1492(G5758) notG3756, thatG3754 to whomG3739 ye yieldG3936(G5719) yourselvesG1438 servantsG1401 toG1519 obeyG5218, his servantsG1401 ye areG2075(G5748) to whomG3739 ye obeyG5219(G5719); whetherG2273 of sinG266 untoG1519 deathG2288, orG2228 of obedienceG5218 untoG1519 righteousnessG1343?
17 But thanks be to God that, whereas you were bondservants of sin, you became obedient from the heart to that form of teaching to which you were delivered.
KJVButG1161 GodG2316 be thankedG5485, thatG3754 ye wereG2258(G5713) the servantsG1401 of sinG266, butG1161 ye have obeyedG5219(G5656) fromG1537 the heartG2588 that formG5179 of doctrineG1322 whichG1519G3739 was delivered youG3860(G5681).
18 Being made free from sin, you became bondservants of righteousness.
KJVBeingG1659 thenG1161 made freeG1659(G5685) fromG575 sinG266, ye became the servantsG1402(G5681) of righteousnessG1343.
19 I speak in human terms because of the weakness of your flesh; for as you presented your members as servants to uncleanness and to wickedness upon wickedness, even so now present your members as servants to righteousness for sanctification.
KJVI speakG3004(G5719) after the manner of menG442 becauseG1223 of the infirmityG769 of yourG5216 fleshG4561: forG1063 asG5618 ye have yieldedG3936(G5656) yourG5216 membersG3196 servantsG1401 to uncleannessG167 andG2532 to iniquityG458 untoG1519 iniquityG458; even soG3779 nowG3568 yieldG3936(G5657) yourG5216 membersG3196 servantsG1401 to righteousnessG1343 untoG1519 holinessG38.
20 For when you were servants of sin, you were free from righteousness.
KJVForG1063 whenG3753 ye wereG2258(G5713) the servantsG1401 of sinG266, ye wereG2258(G5713) freeG1658 from righteousnessG1343.
21 What fruit then did you have at that time in the things of which you are now ashamed? For the end of those things is death.
KJVWhatG5101G3767 fruitG2590 had yeG2192(G5707) thenG5119 inG1909 those things whereofG3739 ye areG1870 nowG3568 ashamedG1870(G5736)? forG1063 the endG5056 of those thingsG1565 is deathG2288.
22 But now, being made free from sin and having become servants of God, you have your fruit of sanctification and the result of eternal life.
KJVButG1161 nowG3570 being made freeG1659(G5685) fromG575 sinG266, andG1161 become servantsG1402(G5685) to GodG2316, ye haveG2192(G5719) yourG5216 fruitG2590 untoG1519 holinessG38, andG1161 the endG5056 everlastingG166 lifeG2222.
23 For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
KJVForG1063 the wagesG3800 of sinG266 is deathG2288; butG1161 the giftG5486 of GodG2316 is eternalG166 lifeG2222 throughG1722 JesusG2424 ChristG5547 ourG2257 LordG2962.
