1 Corinthians 15

WEB·1 Corinthians 15
1Now I declare to you, brothers, the Good News which I preached to you, which also you received, in which you also stand,
KJVMoreoverG1161, brethrenG80, I declareG1107(G5719) unto youG5213 the gospelG2098 whichG3739 I preachedG2097(G5668) unto youG5213, whichG3739 alsoG2532 ye have receivedG3880(G5627), andG2532 whereinG1722G3739 ye standG2476(G5758);
2 by which also you are saved, if you hold firmly the word which I preached to you—unless you believed in vain.
KJVByG1223 whichG3739 alsoG2532 ye are savedG4982(G5743), ifG1487 ye keepG2722(G5719) in memory whatG5101G3056 I preachedG2097(G5668) unto youG5213, unlessG1622G1508 ye have believedG4100(G5656) in vainG1500.
3 For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures,
KJVForG1063 I deliveredG3860(G5656) unto youG5213 first of allG1722G4413 that whichG3739 IG3880 alsoG2532 receivedG3880(G5627), howG3754 that ChristG5547 diedG599(G5627) forG5228 ourG2257 sinsG266 accordingG2596 to the scripturesG1124;
4 that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures,
KJVAndG2532 thatG3754 he was buriedG2290(G5648), andG2532 thatG3754 he rose againG1453(G5769) the thirdG5154 dayG2250 accordingG2596 to the scripturesG1124:
5 and that he appeared to Cephas, then to the twelve.
KJVAndG2532 thatG3754 he was seenG3700(G5681) of CephasG2786, thenG1534 of the twelveG1427:
6 Then he appeared to over five hundred brothers at once, most of whom remain until now, but some have also fallen asleep.
KJVAfter thatG1899, he was seenG3700(G5681) of aboveG1883 five hundredG4001 brethrenG80 at onceG2178; ofG1537 whomG3739 the greater partG4119 remainG3306(G5719) untoG2193 this presentG737, butG1161 someG5100G2532 are fallen asleepG2837(G5681).
7 Then he appeared to James, then to all the apostles,
KJVAfter thatG1899, he was seenG3700(G5681) of JamesG2385; thenG1534 of allG3956 the apostlesG652.
8 and last of all, as to the child born at the wrong time, he appeared to me also.
KJVAndG1161 lastG2078 of allG3956 he was seenG3700(G5681) of me alsoG2504, asG5619 of one born out of due timeG1626.
9 For I am the least of the apostles, who is not worthy to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the assembly of God.
KJVForG1063 IG1473 amG1510(G5748) the leastG1646 of the apostlesG652, thatG3739 amG1510(G5748) notG3756 meetG2425 to be calledG2564(G5745) an apostleG652, becauseG1360 I persecutedG1377(G5656) the churchG1577 of GodG2316.
10 But by the grace of God I am what I am. His grace which was given to me was not futile, but I worked more than all of them; yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me.
KJVButG1161 by the graceG5485 of GodG2316 I amG1510(G5748) whatG3739 I amG1510(G5748): andG2532 hisG846 graceG5485 which was bestowed uponG1519 meG1691 wasG1096(G5675) notG3756 in vainG2756; butG235 I labouredG2872(G5656) more abundantlyG4054 than theyG846 allG3956: yetG1161 notG3756 IG1473, butG235 the graceG5485 of GodG2316 whichG3588 was withG4862 meG1698.
11 Whether then it is I or they, so we preach, and so you believed.
KJVThereforeG3767 whetherG1535 it were IG1473 orG1535 theyG1565, soG3779 we preachG2784(G5719), andG2532 soG3779 ye believedG4100(G5656).
12 Now if Christ is preached, that he has been raised from the dead, how do some among you say that there is no resurrection of the dead?
KJVNowG1161 ifG1487 ChristG5547 be preachedG2784(G5743) thatG3754 he roseG1453(G5769) fromG1537 the deadG3498, howG4459 sayG3004(G5719) someG5100 amongG1722 youG5213 thatG3754 there isG2076(G5748) noG3756 resurrectionG386 of the deadG3498?
13 But if there is no resurrection of the dead, neither has Christ been raised.
KJVButG1161 ifG1487 there beG2076(G5748) noG3756 resurrectionG386 of the deadG3498, thenG3761 isG1453 ChristG5547 notG3761 risenG1453(G5769):
14 If Christ has not been raised, then our preaching is in vain and your faith also is in vain.
KJVAndG1161 ifG1487 ChristG5547 beG1453 notG3756 risenG1453(G5769), thenG686 is ourG2257 preachingG2782 vainG2756, andG2532 yourG5216 faithG4102 isG1161 alsoG2532 vainG2756.
15 Yes, we are also found false witnesses of God, because we testified about God that he raised up Christ, whom he didn’t raise up if it is true that the dead are not raised.
KJVYeaG1161, andG2532 we are foundG2147(G5743) false witnessesG5575 of GodG2316; becauseG3754 we have testifiedG3140(G5656) ofG2596 GodG2316 thatG3754 he raised upG1453(G5656) ChristG5547: whomG3739 he raisedG1453 notG3756 upG1453(G5656), ifG1512 so beG686 that the deadG3498 riseG1453(G5743) notG3756.
16 For if the dead aren’t raised, neither has Christ been raised.
KJVForG1063 ifG1487 the deadG3498 riseG1453(G5743) notG3756, then isG1453 notG3761 ChristG5547 raisedG1453(G5769):
17 If Christ has not been raised, your faith is vain; you are still in your sins.
KJVAndG1161 ifG1487 ChristG5547 beG1453 notG3756 raisedG1453(G5769), yourG5216 faithG4102 is vainG3152; ye areG2075(G5748) yetG2089 inG1722 yourG5216 sinsG266.
18 Then they also who are fallen asleep in Christ have perished.
KJVThenG686 they alsoG2532 which are fallen asleepG2837(G5685) inG1722 ChristG5547 are perishedG622(G5639).
19 If we have only hoped in Christ in this life, we are of all men most pitiable.
KJVIfG1487 inG1722 thisG5026 lifeG2222 onlyG3440 we have hopeG1679(G5761)G2070(G5748) inG1722 ChristG5547, we areG2070(G5748) of allG3956 menG444 most miserableG1652.
20 But now Christ has been raised from the dead. He became the first fruit of those who are asleep.
KJVButG1161 nowG3570 isG1453 ChristG5547 risenG1453(G5769) fromG1537 the deadG3498, and becomeG1096(G5633) the firstfruitsG536 of them that sleptG2837(G5772).
21 For since death came by man, the resurrection of the dead also came by man.
KJVForG1063 sinceG1894 byG1223 manG444 came deathG2288, byG1223 manG444 came alsoG2532 the resurrectionG386 of the deadG3498.
22 For as in Adam all die, so also in Christ all will be made alive.
KJVForG1063 asG5618 inG1722 AdamG76 allG3956 dieG599(G5719), evenG2532 soG3779 inG1722 ChristG5547 shallG2227 allG3956 be made aliveG2227(G5701).
23 But each in his own order: Christ the first fruits, then those who are Christ’s at his coming.
KJVButG1161 every manG1538 inG1722 his ownG2398 orderG5001: ChristG5547 the firstfruitsG536; afterwardG1899 they that areG3588 Christ'sG5547 atG1722 hisG846 comingG3952.
24 Then the end comes, when he will deliver up the Kingdom to God the Father, when he will have abolished all rule and all authority and power.
KJVThenG1534 cometh the endG5056, whenG3752 he shall have delivered upG3860(G5632) the kingdomG932 to GodG2316, evenG2532 the FatherG3962; whenG3752 he shall have put downG2673(G5661) allG3956 ruleG746 andG2532 allG3956 authorityG1849 andG2532 powerG1411.
25 For he must reign until he has put all his enemies under his feet.
KJVForG1063 heG846 mustG1163(G5748) reignG936(G5721), tillG891G3739 he hath putG302G5087(G5632) allG3956 enemiesG2190 underG5259 hisG846 feetG4228.
26 The last enemy that will be abolished is death.
KJVThe lastG2078 enemyG2190 that shall be destroyedG2673(G5743) is deathG2288.
27 For, “He put all things in subjection under his feet.” But when he says, “All things are put in subjection”, it is evident that he is excepted who subjected all things to him.
KJVForG1063 he hath putG5293(G5656) all thingsG3956 underG5259 hisG846 feetG4228. ButG1161 whenG3752 he saithG2036(G5632)G3754 all thingsG3956 are put underG5293(G5769) him, it is manifestG1212 thatG3754 he is exceptedG1622, which did putG5293 all thingsG3956 underG5293(G5660) himG846.
28 When all things have been subjected to him, then the Son will also himself be subjected to him who subjected all things to him, that God may be all in all.
KJVAndG1161 whenG3752 all thingsG3956 shall be subduedG5293(G5652) unto himG846, thenG5119 shallG5293 the SonG5207 alsoG2532 himselfG846 be subjectG5293(G5691) unto him that putG5293 all thingsG3956 underG5293(G5660) himG846, thatG2443 GodG2316 may beG5600(G5753) allG3956 inG1722 allG3956.
29 Or else what will they do who are baptized for the dead? If the dead aren’t raised at all, why then are they baptized for the dead?
KJVElseG1893 whatG5101 shall they doG4160(G5692) which are baptizedG907(G5746) forG5228 the deadG3498, ifG1487 the deadG3498 riseG1453(G5743) notG3756 at allG3654? whyG5101G2532 are they then baptizedG907(G5743) forG5228 the deadG3498?
30 Why do we also stand in jeopardy every hour?
KJVAndG2532 whyG5101 standG2793 weG2249 in jeopardyG2793(G5719) everyG3956 hourG5610?
31 I affirm, by the boasting in you which I have in Christ Jesus our Lord, I die daily.
KJVI protest byG3513 yourG5212 rejoicingG2251G2746 whichG3739 I haveG2192(G5719) inG1722 ChristG5547 JesusG2424 ourG2257 LordG2962, I dieG599(G5719) dailyG2596G2250.
32 If I fought with animals at Ephesus for human purposes, what does it profit me? If the dead are not raised, then “let’s eat and drink, for tomorrow we die.”
KJVIfG1487 after the mannerG2596 of menG444 I have fought with beastsG2341(G5656) atG1722 EphesusG2181, whatG5101 advantageth itG3786 meG3427, ifG1487 the deadG3498 riseG1453(G5743) notG3756? let us eatG5315(G5632) andG2532 drinkG4095(G5632); forG1063 to morrowG839 we dieG599(G5719).
33 Don’t be deceived! “Evil companionships corrupt good morals.”
KJVBeG4105 notG3361 deceivedG4105(G5744): evilG2556 communicationsG3657 corruptG5351(G5719) goodG5543 mannersG2239.
34 Wake up righteously and don’t sin, for some have no knowledge of God. I say this to your shame.
KJVAwakeG1594(G5657) to righteousnessG1346, andG2532 sinG264(G5720) notG3361; forG1063 someG5100 haveG2192(G5719) not the knowledgeG56 of GodG2316: I speakG3004(G5719) this toG4314 yourG5213 shameG1791.
35 But someone will say, “How are the dead raised?” and, “With what kind of body do they come?”
KJVButG235 someG5100 man will sayG2046(G5692), HowG4459 areG1453 the deadG3498 raised upG1453(G5743)? andG1161 with whatG4169 bodyG4983 do they comeG2064(G5736)?
36 You foolish one, that which you yourself sow is not made alive unless it dies.
KJVThou foolG878, that whichG3739 thouG4771 sowestG4687(G5719) isG2227 notG3756 quickenedG2227(G5743), exceptG3362 it dieG599(G5632):
37 That which you sow, you don’t sow the body that will be, but a bare grain, maybe of wheat, or of some other kind.
KJVAndG2532 that whichG3739 thou sowestG4687(G5719), thou sowestG4687(G5719) notG3756 that bodyG4983 that shall beG1096(G5697), butG235 bareG1131 grainG2848, it may chanceG1487G5177(G5630) of wheatG4621, orG2228 of someG5100 otherG3062 grain:
38 But God gives it a body even as it pleased him, and to each seed a body of its own.
KJVButG1161 GodG2316 givethG1325(G5719) itG846 a bodyG4983 asG2531 it hath pleased himG2309(G5656), andG2532 to everyG1538 seedG4690 his ownG2398 bodyG4983.
39 All flesh is not the same flesh, but there is one flesh of men, another flesh of animals, another of fish, and another of birds.
KJVAllG3956 fleshG4561 is notG3756 the sameG846 fleshG4561: butG235G3303 there is oneG243 kind of fleshG4561 of menG444,G1161 anotherG243 fleshG4561 of beastsG2934,G1161 anotherG243 of fishesG2486, andG1161 anotherG243 of birdsG4421.
40 There are also celestial bodies and terrestrial bodies; but the glory of the celestial differs from that of the terrestrial.
KJVThere are alsoG2532 celestialG2032 bodiesG4983, andG2532 bodiesG4983 terrestrialG1919: butG235G3303 the gloryG1391 of the celestialG2032 is oneG2087, andG1161 the glory of the terrestrialG1919 is anotherG2087.
41 There is one glory of the sun, another glory of the moon, and another glory of the stars; for one star differs from another star in glory.
KJVThere is oneG243 gloryG1391 of the sunG2246, andG2532 anotherG243 gloryG1391 of the moonG4582, andG2532 anotherG243 gloryG1391 of the starsG792: forG1063 one starG792 differeth fromG1308(G5719) another starG792 inG1722 gloryG1391.
42 So also is the resurrection of the dead. The body is sown perishable; it is raised imperishable.
KJVSoG3779 alsoG2532 is the resurrectionG386 of the deadG3498. It is sownG4687(G5743) inG1722 corruptionG5356; it is raisedG1453(G5743) inG1722 incorruptionG861:
43 It is sown in dishonor; it is raised in glory. It is sown in weakness; it is raised in power.
KJVIt is sownG4687(G5743) inG1722 dishonourG819; it is raisedG1453(G5743) inG1722 gloryG1391: it is sownG4687(G5743) inG1722 weaknessG769; it is raisedG1453(G5743) inG1722 powerG1411:
44 It is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body. There is a natural body and there is also a spiritual body.
KJVIt is sownG4687(G5743) a naturalG5591 bodyG4983; it is raisedG1453(G5743) a spiritualG4152 bodyG4983. There isG2076(G5748) a naturalG5591 bodyG4983, andG2532 there isG2076(G5748) a spiritualG4152 bodyG4983.
45 So also it is written, “The first man Adam became a living soul.” The last Adam became a life-giving spirit.
KJVAndG2532 soG3779 it is writtenG1125(G5769), The firstG4413 manG444 AdamG76 was madeG1096(G5633)G1519 a livingG2198(G5723) soulG5590; the lastG2078 AdamG76 was madeG1519 a quickeningG2227(G5723) spiritG4151.
46 However, that which is spiritual isn’t first, but that which is natural, then that which is spiritual.
KJVHowbeitG235 that was notG3756 firstG4412 which is spiritualG4152, butG235 that which is naturalG5591; and afterwardG1899 that which is spiritualG4152.
47 The first man is of the earth, made of dust. The second man is the Lord from heaven.
KJVThe firstG4413 manG444 is ofG1537 the earthG1093, earthyG5517: the secondG1208 manG444 is the LordG2962 fromG1537 heavenG3772.
48 As is the one made of dust, such are those who are also made of dust; and as is the heavenly, such are they also that are heavenly.
KJVAsG3634 is the earthyG5517, suchG5108 are they alsoG2532 that are earthyG5517: andG2532 as isG3634 the heavenlyG2032, suchG5108 are theyG2032 alsoG2532 that are heavenlyG2032.
49 As we have borne the image of those made of dust, let’s also bear the image of the heavenly.
KJVAndG2532 asG2531 we have borneG5409(G5656) the imageG1504 of the earthyG5517, we shallG5409 alsoG2532 bearG5409(G5692) the imageG1504 of the heavenlyG2032.
50 Now I say this, brothers, that flesh and blood can’t inherit God’s Kingdom; neither does the perishable inherit imperishable.
KJVNowG1161 thisG5124 I sayG5346(G5748), brethrenG80, thatG3754 fleshG4561 andG2532 bloodG129 cannotG3756G1410(G5736) inheritG2816(G5658) the kingdomG932 of GodG2316; neitherG3761 dothG2816 corruptionG5356 inheritG2816(G5719) incorruptionG861.
51 Behold, I tell you a mystery. We will not all sleep, but we will all be changed,
KJVBeholdG2400(G5628), I shewG3004(G5719) youG5213 a mysteryG3466; We shallG2837 notG3756 allG3956G3303 sleepG2837(G5701), butG1161 we shallG236 allG3956 be changedG236(G5691),
52 in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we will be changed.
KJVInG1722 a momentG823, inG1722 the twinklingG4493 of an eyeG3788, atG1722 the lastG2078 trumpG4536: forG1063 the trumpet shall soundG4537(G5692), andG2532 the deadG3498 shall be raisedG1453(G5701) incorruptibleG862, andG2532 weG2249 shall be changedG236(G5691).
53 For this perishable body must become imperishable, and this mortal must put on immortality.
KJVForG1063 thisG5124 corruptibleG5349 mustG1163(G5748) put onG1746(G5670) incorruptionG861, andG2532 thisG5124 mortalG2349 must put onG1746(G5670) immortalityG110.
54 But when this perishable body will have become imperishable, and this mortal will have put on immortality, then what is written will happen: “Death is swallowed up in victory.”
KJVSoG1161 whenG3752 thisG5124 corruptibleG5349 shall have put onG1746(G5672) incorruptionG861, andG2532 thisG5124 mortalG2349 shall have put onG1746(G5672) immortalityG110, thenG5119 shall be brought to passG1096(G5695) the sayingG3056 that is writtenG1125(G5772), DeathG2288 is swallowed upG2666(G5681) inG1519 victoryG3534.
55 “Death, where is your sting? Hades, where is your victory?”
KJVO deathG2288, whereG4226 is thyG4675 stingG2759? O graveG86, whereG4226 is thyG4675 victoryG3534?
56 The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law.
KJVG1161 The stingG2759 of deathG2288 is sinG266; andG1161 the strengthG1411 of sinG266 is the lawG3551.
57 But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
KJVButG1161 thanksG5485 be to GodG2316, whichG3588 givethG1325(G5723) usG2254 the victoryG3534 throughG1223 ourG2257 LordG2962 JesusG2424 ChristG5547.
58 Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the Lord’s work, because you know that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.
KJVThereforeG5620, myG3450 belovedG27 brethrenG80, be yeG1096(G5737) stedfastG1476, unmoveableG277, alwaysG3842 aboundingG4052(G5723) inG1722 the workG2041 of the LordG2962, forasmuch as ye knowG1492(G5761) thatG3754 yourG5216 labourG2873 isG2076(G5748) notG3756 in vainG2756 inG1722 the LordG2962.
