2 Corinthians 5
1For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, an house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.
KJVForG1063 we knowG1492(G5758) thatG3754 ifG1437 ourG2257 earthlyG1919 houseG3614 of this tabernacleG4636 were dissolvedG2647(G5686), we haveG2192(G5719) a buildingG3619 ofG1537 GodG2316, an houseG3614 not made with handsG886, eternalG166 inG1722 the heavensG3772.
2 For in this we groan, earnestly desiring to be clothed upon with our house which is from heaven:
KJVForG2532G1063 inG1722 thisG5129 we groanG4727(G5719), earnestly desiringG1971(G5723) to be clothed uponG1902(G5670) with ourG2257 houseG3613 whichG3588 is fromG1537 heavenG3772:
3 If so be that being clothed we shall not be found naked.
KJVIfG1489 soG2532 be that being clothedG1746(G5671) we shallG2147 notG3756 be foundG2147(G5701) nakedG1131.
4 For we that are in this tabernacle do groan, being burdened: not for that we would be unclothed, but clothed upon, that mortality might be swallowed up of life.
KJVForG2532G1063 we that areG5607(G5752) inG1722 this tabernacleG4636 do groanG4727(G5719), being burdenedG916(G5746): notG3756 for thatG1894 we wouldG2309(G5719) be unclothedG1562(G5670), butG235 clothed uponG1902(G5670), thatG2443 mortalityG2349 might be swallowed upG2666(G5686) ofG5259 lifeG2222.
5 Now he that hath wrought us for the selfsame thing is God, who also hath given unto us the earnest of the Spirit.
KJVNowG1161 he that hath wroughtG2716(G5666) usG2248 forG1519 the selfsame thingG846G5124 is GodG2316, whoG3588 alsoG2532 hath givenG1325(G5631) unto usG2254 the earnestG728 of the SpiritG4151.
6 Therefore we are always confident, knowing that, whilst we are at home in the body, we are absent from the Lord:
KJVThereforeG3767G2532 we are alwaysG3842 confidentG2292(G5723), knowingG1492(G5761) thatG3754, whilst we are at homeG1736(G5723) inG1722 the bodyG4983, we are absentG1553(G5719) fromG575 the LordG2962:
7 (For we walk by faith, not by sight:)
KJV(ForG1063 we walkG4043(G5719) byG1223 faithG4102, notG3756 byG1223 sightG1491:)
8 We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.
KJVWe are confidentG2292(G5719), I say, andG1161G2532 willingG2106(G5719) ratherG3123 to be absentG1553(G5658) fromG1537 the bodyG4983, andG2532 to be presentG1736(G5658) withG4314 the LordG2962.
9 Wherefore we labour, that, whether present or absent, we may be accepted of him.
KJVWhereforeG1352 we labourG5389(G5736), thatG2532, whetherG1535 presentG1736(G5723) orG1535 absentG1553(G5723), we may beG1511(G5750) acceptedG2101 of himG846.
10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.
KJVForG1063 weG2248 mustG1163(G5748) allG3956 appearG5319(G5683) beforeG1715 the judgment seatG968 of ChristG5547; thatG2443 every oneG1538 may receiveG2865(G5672) the things done inG1223 his bodyG4983, accordingG4314 to thatG3739 he hath doneG4238(G5656), whetherG1535 it be goodG18 orG1535 badG2556.
11 Knowing therefore the terror of the Lord, we persuade men; but we are made manifest unto God; and I trust also are made manifest in your consciences.
KJVKnowingG1492(G5761) thereforeG3767 the terrorG5401 of the LordG2962, we persuadeG3982(G5719) menG444; butG1161 we are made manifestG5319(G5769) unto GodG2316; andG1161 I trustG1679(G5719) alsoG2532 are made manifestG5319(G5771) inG1722 yourG5216 consciencesG4893.
12 For we commend not ourselves again unto you, but give you occasion to glory on our behalf, that ye may have somewhat to answer them which glory in appearance, and not in heart.
KJVForG1063 we commendG4921(G5719) notG3756 ourselvesG1438 againG3825 unto youG5213, butG235 giveG1325(G5723) youG5213 occasionG874 to gloryG2745 onG5228 ourG2257 behalfG5228, thatG2443 ye may haveG2192(G5725) somewhat toG4314 answer them which gloryG2744(G5740) inG1722 appearanceG4383, andG2532 notG3756 in heartG2588.
13 For whether we be beside ourselves, it is to God: or whether we be sober, it is for your cause.
KJVForG1063 whetherG1535 we be beside ourselvesG1839(G5627), it is to GodG2316: or whetherG1535 we be soberG4993(G5719), it is for your causeG5213.
14 For the love of Christ constraineth us; because we thus judge, that if one died for all, then were all dead:
KJVForG1063 the loveG26 of ChristG5547 constrainethG4912(G5719) usG2248; because we thusG5124 judgeG2919(G5660), thatG3754 ifG1487 oneG1520 diedG599(G5627) forG5228 allG3956, thenG686 wereG599 allG3956 deadG599(G5627):
15 And that he died for all, that they which live should not henceforth live unto themselves, but unto him which died for them, and rose again.
KJVAndG2532 that he diedG599(G5627) forG5228 allG3956, thatG2443 they which liveG2198(G5723) shouldG2198 not henceforthG3371 liveG2198(G5725) unto themselvesG1438, butG235 unto him which diedG599(G5631) forG5228 themG846, andG2532 rose againG1453(G5685).
16 Wherefore henceforth know we no man after the flesh: yea, though we have known Christ after the flesh, yet now henceforth know we him no more.
KJVWhereforeG5620 henceforthG575G3568 knowG1492(G5758) weG2249 no manG3762 afterG2596 the fleshG4561: yeaG1161, thoughG1499 we have knownG1097(G5758) ChristG5547 afterG2596 the fleshG4561, yetG235 nowG3568 henceforthG3765 know weG1097(G5719) him no moreG3765.
17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
KJVThereforeG5620 if any manG1536 be inG1722 ChristG5547, he is a newG2537 creatureG2937: old thingsG744 are passed awayG3928(G5627); beholdG2400(G5628), all thingsG3956 are becomeG1096(G5754) newG2537.
18 And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation;
KJVAndG1161 all thingsG3956 are ofG1537 GodG2316, whoG3588 hath reconciledG2644(G5660) usG2248 to himselfG1438 byG1223 JesusG2424 ChristG5547, andG2532 hath givenG1325(G5631) to usG2254 the ministryG1248 of reconciliationG2643;
19 To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.
KJVTo witG5613, thatG3754 GodG2316 wasG2258(G5713) inG1722 ChristG5547, reconcilingG2644(G5723) the worldG2889 unto himselfG1438, notG3361 imputingG3049(G5740) theirG846 trespassesG3900 unto themG846; andG2532 hath committedG5087(G5642) untoG1722 usG2254 the wordG3056 of reconciliationG2643.
20 Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ's stead, be ye reconciled to God.
KJVNow thenG3767 we are ambassadorsG4243(G5719) forG5228 ChristG5547, as thoughG5613 GodG2316 did beseechG3870(G5723) you byG1223 usG2257: we prayG1189(G5736) you inG5228 Christ'sG5547 steadG5228, be ye reconciledG2644(G5649) to GodG2316.
21 For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.
KJVForG1063 he hath madeG4160(G5656) him to be sinG266 forG5228 usG2257, whoG3588 knewG1097(G5631) noG3361 sinG266; thatG2443 weG2249 might be madeG1096(G5741) the righteousnessG1343 of GodG2316 inG1722 himG846.
