2 Corinthians 7

WEB·2 Corinthians 7
1Having therefore these promises, beloved, let’s cleanse ourselves from all defilement of flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.
KJVHavingG2192(G5723) thereforeG3767 theseG5025 promisesG1860, dearly belovedG27, let us cleanseG2511(G5661) ourselvesG1438 fromG575 allG3956 filthinessG3436 of the fleshG4561 andG2532 spiritG4151, perfectingG2005(G5723) holinessG42 inG1722 the fearG5401 of GodG2316.
2 Open your hearts to us. We wronged no one. We corrupted no one. We took advantage of no one.
KJVReceiveG5562(G5657) usG2248; we have wrongedG91(G5656) no manG3762, we have corruptedG5351(G5656) no manG3762, we have defraudedG4122(G5656) no manG3762.
3 I say this not to condemn you, for I have said before that you are in our hearts to die together and live together.
KJVI speakG3004(G5719) notG3756 this toG4314 condemnG2633 you: forG1063 I have said beforeG4280(G5758), thatG3754 ye areG2075(G5748) inG1722 ourG2257 heartsG2588 toG1519 dieG4880(G5629) andG2532 live withG4800(G5721) you.
4 Great is my boldness of speech toward you. Great is my boasting on your behalf. I am filled with comfort. I overflow with joy in all our affliction.
KJVGreatG4183 is myG3427 boldness of speechG3954 towardG4314 youG5209, greatG4183 is myG3427 gloryingG2746 ofG5228 youG5216: I am filledG4137(G5769) with comfortG3874, I am exceedingG5248(G5731) joyfulG5479 inG1909 allG3956 ourG2257 tribulationG2347.
5 For even when we had come into Macedonia, our flesh had no relief, but we were afflicted on every side. Fightings were outside. Fear was inside.
KJVForG1063G2532, when weG2257 were comeG2064(G5631) intoG1519 MacedoniaG3109, ourG2257 fleshG4561 hadG2192(G5758) noG3762 restG425, butG235 we were troubledG2346(G5746) onG1722 every sideG3956; withoutG1855 were fightingsG3163, withinG2081 were fearsG5401.
6 Nevertheless, he who comforts the lowly, God, comforted us by the coming of Titus,
KJVNeverthelessG235 GodG2316, that comfortethG3870(G5723) those that are cast downG5011, comfortedG3870(G5656) usG2248 byG1722 the comingG3952 of TitusG5103;
7 and not by his coming only, but also by the comfort with which he was comforted in you while he told us of your longing, your mourning, and your zeal for me, so that I rejoiced still more.
KJVAndG1161 notG3756 byG1722 hisG846 comingG3952 onlyG3440, butG235G2532 byG1722 the consolationG3874 wherewithG3739 he was comfortedG3870(G5681) inG1909 youG5213, when he toldG312(G5723) usG2254 yourG5216 earnest desireG1972, yourG5216 mourningG3602, yourG5216 fervent mindG2205 towardG5228 meG1700; soG5620 that IG3165 rejoicedG5463(G5646) the moreG3123.
8 For though I grieved you with my letter, I do not regret it, though I did regret it. For I see that my letter made you grieve, though just for a while.
KJVForG3754 thoughG1499 I madeG3076 youG5209 sorryG3076(G5656) withG1722 a letterG1992, I doG3338 notG3756 repentG3338(G5736), thoughG1499 I did repentG3338(G5711): forG1063 I perceiveG991(G5719) thatG3754 the sameG1565 epistleG1992 hath madeG3076 youG5209 sorryG3076(G5656), though it were butG1499 forG4314 a seasonG5610.
9 I now rejoice, not that you were grieved, but that you were grieved to repentance. For you were grieved in a godly way, that you might suffer loss by us in nothing.
KJVNowG3568 I rejoiceG5463(G5719), notG3756 thatG3754 ye were made sorryG3076(G5681), butG235 thatG3754 ye sorrowedG3076(G5681) toG1519 repentanceG3341: forG1063 ye were made sorryG3076(G5681) afterG2596 a godly mannerG2316, thatG2443 ye might receive damageG2210(G5686) byG1537 usG2257 inG1722 nothingG3367.
10 For godly sorrow produces repentance leading to salvation, which brings no regret. But the sorrow of the world produces death.
KJVForG1063 godlyG2316G2596 sorrowG3077 workethG2716(G5736) repentanceG3341 toG1519 salvationG4991 not to be repented ofG278: butG1161 the sorrowG3077 of the worldG2889 workethG2716(G5736) deathG2288.
11 For behold, this same thing, that you were grieved in a godly way, what earnest care it worked in you. Yes, what defense, indignation, fear, longing, zeal, and vindication! In everything you demonstrated yourselves to be pure in the matter.
KJVForG1063 beholdG2400(G5628) thisG5124 selfsame thingG846, thatG5209 ye sorrowedG3076(G5683) afterG2596 a godly sortG2316, whatG4214 carefulnessG4710 it wroughtG2716(G5662) in youG5213, yeaG235, what clearing of yourselvesG627, yeaG235, what indignationG24, yeaG235, what fearG5401, yeaG235, what vehement desireG1972, yeaG235, what zealG2205, yeaG235, what revengeG1557! InG1722 allG3956 things ye have approvedG4921(G5656) yourselvesG1438 to beG1511(G5750) clearG53 inG1722 this matterG4229.
12 So although I wrote to you, I wrote not for his cause that did the wrong, nor for his cause that suffered the wrong, but that your earnest care for us might be revealed in you in the sight of God.
KJVWhereforeG686, thoughG1499 I wroteG1125(G5656) unto youG5213, I did it notG3756 for his causeG1752 that had done the wrongG91(G5660), norG3761 for his causeG1752 that suffered wrongG91(G5685), butG235 thatG1752 ourG2257 careG4710 forG5228 youG5216 in the sightG1799 of GodG2316 might appearG5319(G5683) untoG4314 youG5209.
13 Therefore we have been comforted. In our comfort we rejoiced the more exceedingly for the joy of Titus, because his spirit has been refreshed by you all.
KJVThereforeG1223G5124 we were comfortedG3870(G5769) inG1909 yourG5216 comfortG3874: yea, andG1161 exceedinglyG4056 the moreG3123 joyed weG5463(G5644) forG1909 the joyG5479 of TitusG5103, becauseG3754 hisG846 spiritG4151 was refreshedG373(G5769) byG575 youG5216 allG3956.
14 For if in anything I have boasted to him on your behalf, I was not disappointed. But as we spoke all things to you in truth, so our glorying also which I made before Titus was found to be truth.
KJVForG3754 if I have boastedG2744(G5766) any thingG1536 to himG846 ofG5228 youG5216, I amG2617 notG3756 ashamedG2617(G5681); butG235 asG5613 we spakeG2980(G5656) all thingsG3956 to youG5213 inG1722 truthG225, evenG2532 soG3779 ourG2257 boastingG2746, whichG3588 I made beforeG1909 TitusG5103, is foundG1096(G5675) a truthG225.
15 His affection is more abundantly toward you, while he remembers all of your obedience, how with fear and trembling you received him.
KJVAndG2532 hisG846 inward affectionG4698 isG2076(G5748) more abundantG4056 towardG1519 youG5209, whilst he rememberethG363(G5734) the obedienceG5218 of youG5216 allG3956, howG5613 withG3326 fearG5401 andG2532 tremblingG5156 ye receivedG1209(G5662) himG846.
16 I rejoice that in everything I am confident concerning you.
KJVI rejoiceG5463(G5719) therefore thatG3754 I have confidenceG2292(G5719) inG1722 youG5213 inG1722 allG3956 things.
