¹It shall happen, when all these things have come on you, the blessing and the curse, which I have set before you, and you shall call them to mind among all the nations where Yahweh your God has driven you,

KJVAnd it shall come to pass, when all these things^H1697 are come^H935^(H8799) upon thee, the blessing^H1293 and the curse^H7045, which I have set^H5414^(H8804) before^H6440 thee, and thou shalt call^H7725^(H8689) them to mind^H3824 among all the nations^H1471, whither the LORD^H3068 thy God^H430 hath driven^H5080^(H8689) thee,

² and return to Yahweh your God and obey his voice according to all that I command you today, you and your children, with all your heart and with all your soul,

KJVAnd shalt return^H7725^(H8804) unto the LORD^H3068 thy God^H430, and shalt obey^H8085^(H8804) his voice^H6963 according to all that I command^H6680^(H8764) thee this day^H3117, thou and thy children^H1121, with all thine heart^H3824, and with all thy soul^H5315;

³ that then Yahweh your God will release you from captivity, have compassion on you, and will return and gather you from all the peoples where Yahweh your God has scattered you.

KJVThat then the LORD^H3068 thy God^H430 will turn^H7725^(H8804) thy captivity^H7622, and have compassion^H7355^(H8765) upon thee, and will return^H7725^(H8804) and gather^H6908^(H8765) thee from all the nations^H5971, whither the LORD^H3068 thy God^H430 hath scattered^H6327^(H8689) thee.

⁴ If your outcasts are in the uttermost parts of the heavens, from there Yahweh your God will gather you, and from there he will bring you back.

KJVIf any of thine be driven out^H5080^(H8737) unto the outmost^H7097 parts of heaven^H8064, from thence will the LORD^H3068 thy God^H430 gather^H6908^(H8762) thee, and from thence will he fetch^H3947^(H8799) thee:

⁵ Yahweh your God will bring you into the land which your fathers possessed, and you will possess it. He will do you good, and increase your numbers more than your fathers.

KJVAnd the LORD^H3068 thy God^H430 will bring^H935^(H8689) thee into the land^H776 which thy fathers^H1 possessed^H3423^(H8804), and thou shalt possess^H3423^(H8804) it; and he will do thee good^H3190^(H8689), and multiply^H7235^(H8689) thee above thy fathers^H1.

⁶ Yahweh your God will circumcise your heart, and the heart of your offspring, to love Yahweh your God with all your heart and with all your soul, that you may live.

KJVAnd the LORD^H3068 thy God^H430 will circumcise^H4135^(H8804) thine heart^H3824, and the heart^H3824 of thy seed^H2233, to love^H157^(H8800) the LORD^H3068 thy God^H430 with all thine heart^H3824, and with all thy soul^H5315, that thou mayest live^H2416.

⁷ Yahweh your God will put all these curses on your enemies and on those who hate you, who persecuted you.

KJVAnd the LORD^H3068 thy God^H430 will put^H5414^(H8804) all these curses^H423 upon thine enemies^H341^(H8802), and on them that hate^H8130^(H8802) thee, which persecuted^H7291^(H8804) thee.

⁸ You shall return and obey Yahweh’s voice, and do all his commandments which I command you today.

KJVAnd thou shalt return^H7725^(H8799) and obey^H8085^(H8804) the voice^H6963 of the LORD^H3068, and do^H6213^(H8804) all his commandments^H4687 which I command^H6680^(H8764) thee this day^H3117.

⁹ Yahweh your God will make you prosperous in all the work of your hand, in the fruit of your body, in the fruit of your livestock, and in the fruit of your ground, for good; for Yahweh will again rejoice over you for good, as he rejoiced over your fathers,

KJVAnd the LORD^H3068 thy God^H430 will make thee plenteous^H3498^(H8689) in every work^H4639 of thine hand^H3027, in the fruit^H6529 of thy body^H990, and in the fruit^H6529 of thy cattle^H929, and in the fruit^H6529 of thy land^H127, for good^H2896: for the LORD^H3068 will again^H7725^(H8799) rejoice^H7797^(H8800) over thee for good^H2896, as he rejoiced^H7797^(H8804) over thy fathers^H1:

¹⁰ if you will obey Yahweh your God’s voice, to keep his commandments and his statutes which are written in this book of the law, if you turn to Yahweh your God with all your heart and with all your soul.

KJVIf thou shalt hearken^H8085^(H8799) unto the voice^H6963 of the LORD^H3068 thy God^H430, to keep^H8104^(H8800) his commandments^H4687 and his statutes^H2708 which are written^H3789^(H8803) in this book^H5612 of the law^H8451, and if thou turn^H7725^(H8799) unto the LORD^H3068 thy God^H430 with all thine heart^H3824, and with all thy soul^H5315.

¹¹ For this commandment which I command you today is not too hard for you or too distant.

KJVFor this commandment^H4687 which I command^H6680^(H8764) thee this day^H3117, it is not hidden^H6381^(H8737) from thee, neither is it far off^H7350.

¹² It is not in heaven, that you should say, “Who will go up for us to heaven, bring it to us, and proclaim it to us, that we may do it?”

KJVIt is not in heaven^H8064, that thou shouldest say^H559^(H8800), Who shall go up^H5927^(H8799) for us to heaven^H8064, and bring^H3947^(H8799) it unto us, that we may hear^H8085^(H8686) it, and do^H6213^(H8799) it?

¹³ Neither is it beyond the sea, that you should say, “Who will go over the sea for us, bring it to us, and proclaim it to us, that we may do it?”

KJVNeither is it beyond^H5676 the sea^H3220, that thou shouldest say^H559^(H8800), Who shall go^H5674^(H8799) over^H5676 the sea^H3220 for us, and bring^H3947^(H8799) it unto us, that we may hear^H8085^(H8686) it, and do^H6213^(H8799) it?

¹⁴ But the word is very near to you, in your mouth and in your heart, that you may do it.

¹⁵ Behold, I have set before you today life and prosperity, and death and evil.

¹⁶ For I command you today to love Yahweh your God, to walk in his ways and to keep his commandments, his statutes, and his ordinances, that you may live and multiply, and that Yahweh your God may bless you in the land where you go in to possess it.

¹⁷ But if your heart turns away, and you will not hear, but are drawn away and worship other gods, and serve them,

KJVBut if thine heart^H3824 turn away^H6437^(H8799), so that thou wilt not hear^H8085^(H8799), but shalt be drawn away^H5080^(H8738), and worship^H7812^(H8694) other^H312 gods^H430, and serve^H5647^(H8804) them;

¹⁸ I declare to you today that you will surely perish. You will not prolong your days in the land where you pass over the Jordan to go in to possess it.

¹⁹ I call heaven and earth to witness against you today that I have set before you life and death, the blessing and the curse. Therefore choose life, that you may live, you and your descendants,

²⁰ to love Yahweh your God, to obey his voice, and to cling to him; for he is your life, and the length of your days, that you may dwell in the land which Yahweh swore to your fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give them.

¹These are the words of the covenant which Yahweh commanded Moses to make with the children of Israel in the land of Moab, in addition to the covenant which he made with them in Horeb.

² Moses called to all Israel, and said to them: Your eyes have seen all that Yahweh did in the land of Egypt to Pharaoh, and to all his servants, and to all his land;

³ the great trials which your eyes saw, the signs, and those great wonders.

⁴ But Yahweh has not given you a heart to know, eyes to see, and ears to hear, to this day.

⁵ I have led you forty years in the wilderness. Your clothes have not grown old on you, and your sandals have not grown old on your feet.

KJVAnd I have led^H3212^(H8686) you forty^H705 years^H8141 in the wilderness^H4057: your clothes^H8008 are not waxen old^H1086^(H8804) upon you, and thy shoe^H5275 is not waxen old^H1086^(H8804) upon thy foot^H7272.

⁶ You have not eaten bread, neither have you drunk wine or strong drink, that you may know that I am Yahweh your God.

⁷ When you came to this place, Sihon the king of Heshbon and Og the king of Bashan came out against us to battle, and we struck them.

⁸ We took their land, and gave it for an inheritance to the Reubenites, and to the Gadites, and to the half-tribe of the Manassites.

⁹ Therefore keep the words of this covenant and do them, that you may prosper in all that you do.

¹⁰ All of you stand today in the presence of Yahweh your God: your heads, your tribes, your elders, and your officers, even all the men of Israel,

¹¹ your little ones, your wives, and the foreigners who are in the middle of your camps, from the one who cuts your wood to the one who draws your water,

¹² that you may enter into the covenant of Yahweh your God, and into his oath, which Yahweh your God makes with you today,

¹³ that he may establish you today as his people, and that he may be your God, as he spoke to you and as he swore to your fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob.

¹⁴ Neither do I make this covenant and this oath with you only,

¹⁵ but with those who stand here with us today before Yahweh our God, and also with those who are not here with us today

¹⁶ (for you know how we lived in the land of Egypt, and how we came through the middle of the nations through which you passed;

¹⁷ and you have seen their abominations and their idols of wood, stone, silver, and gold, which were among them);

¹⁸ lest there should be among you man, woman, family, or tribe whose heart turns away today from Yahweh our God, to go to serve the gods of those nations; lest there should be among you a root that produces bitter poison;

¹⁹ and it happen, when he hears the words of this curse, that he bless himself in his heart, saying, “I shall have peace, though I walk in the stubbornness of my heart,” to destroy the moist with the dry.

²⁰ Yahweh will not pardon him, but then Yahweh’s anger and his jealousy will smoke against that man, and all the curse that is written in this book will fall on him, and Yahweh will blot out his name from under the sky.

KJVThe LORD^H3068 will^H14^(H8799) not spare^H5545^(H8800) him, but then the anger^H639 of the LORD^H3068 and his jealousy^H7068 shall smoke^H6225^(H8799) against that man^H376, and all the curses^H423 that are written^H3789^(H8803) in this book^H5612 shall lie^H7257^(H8804) upon him, and the LORD^H3068 shall blot out^H4229^(H8804) his name^H8034 from under heaven^H8064.

²¹ Yahweh will set him apart for evil out of all the tribes of Israel, according to all the curses of the covenant written in this book of the law.

KJVAnd the LORD^H3068 shall separate^H914^(H8689) him unto evil^H7451 out of all the tribes^H7626 of Israel^H3478, according to all the curses^H423 of the covenant^H1285 that are written^H3789^(H8803) in this book^H5612 of the law^H8451:

²² The generation to come—your children who will rise up after you, and the foreigner who will come from a far land—will say, when they see the plagues of that land, and the sicknesses with which Yahweh has made it sick,

KJVSo that the generation^H1755 to come^H314 of your children^H1121 that shall rise up^H6965^(H8799) after^H310 you, and the stranger^H5237 that shall come^H935^(H8799) from a far^H7350 land^H776, shall say^H559^(H8804), when they see^H7200^(H8804) the plagues^H4347 of that land^H776, and the sicknesses^H8463 which the LORD^H3068 hath laid^H2470^(H8765) upon it;

²³ that all of its land is sulfur, salt, and burning, that it is not sown, doesn’t produce, nor does any grass grow in it, like the overthrow of Sodom, Gomorrah, Admah, and Zeboiim, which Yahweh overthrew in his anger, and in his wrath.

KJVAnd that the whole land^H776 thereof is brimstone^H1614, and salt^H4417, and burning^H8316, that it is not sown^H2232^(H8735), nor beareth^H6779^(H8686), nor any grass^H6212 groweth^H5927^(H8799) therein, like the overthrow^H4114 of Sodom^H5467, and Gomorrah^H6017, Admah^H126, and Zeboim^H6636, which the LORD^H3068 overthrew^H2015^(H8804) in his anger^H639, and in his wrath^H2534:

²⁴ Even all the nations will say, “Why has Yahweh done this to this land? What does the heat of this great anger mean?”

KJVEven all nations^H1471 shall say^H559^(H8804), Wherefore hath the LORD^H3068 done^H6213^(H8804) thus unto this land^H776? what meaneth the heat^H2750 of this great^H1419 anger^H639?

²⁵ Then men will say, “Because they abandoned the covenant of Yahweh, the God of their fathers, which he made with them when he brought them out of the land of Egypt,

KJVThen men shall say^H559^(H8804), Because they have forsaken^H5800^(H8804) the covenant^H1285 of the LORD^H3068 God^H430 of their fathers^H1, which he made^H3772^(H8804) with them when he brought them forth^H3318^(H8687) out of the land^H776 of Egypt^H4714:

²⁶ and went and served other gods and worshiped them, gods that they didn’t know and that he had not given to them.

KJVFor they went^H3212^(H8799) and served^H5647^(H8799) other^H312 gods^H430, and worshipped^H7812^(H8691) them, gods^H430 whom they knew^H3045^(H8804) not, and whom he had not given^H2505^(H8804) unto them:

²⁷ Therefore Yahweh’s anger burned against this land, to bring on it all the curses that are written in this book.

KJVAnd the anger^H639 of the LORD^H3068 was kindled^H2734^(H8799) against this land^H776, to bring^H935^(H8687) upon it all the curses^H7045 that are written^H3789^(H8803) in this book^H5612:

²⁸ Yahweh rooted them out of their land in anger, in wrath, and in great indignation, and thrust them into another land, as it is today.”

²⁹ The secret things belong to Yahweh our God; but the things that are revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may do all the words of this law.
