The First Three Bowls
Revelation 16:1-4
1 I heard a loud voice out of the temple, saying to the seven angels, “Go and pour out the seven bowls of the wrath of God on the earth!” · WEB
The bowls fall unfractioned on the marked world — sore, sea, and springs — striking exactly where the mark was worn and the blood was shed.

The command comes from the smoke-filled temple no one can enter Revelation 15:8 — God's own voice, since no other is inside — and the series it launches must be read against the trumpets it completes. The trumpets struck thirds, warning's fraction Revelation 8:7; the bowls strike whole: no fractions in this chapter, because the warning era is over and in them God's wrath is finished Revelation 15:1. Same plague-grammar of Egypt, final dose. And as in Egypt, the plagues fall discriminately — Goshen's line held Exodus 8:22 Revelation 7:3: the bowls seek out the mark.
The first went, and poured out his bowl into the earth, and it became a harmful and painful sore on the people who had the mark of the beast, and who worshiped his image Revelation 16:2.
Egypt's boils Exodus 9:10, with an address label: the people who had the mark. The first bowl's targeting is the chapter's theology — wrath falls precisely along the line the mark drew Revelation 13:16; the anatomy that wore the beast's name breaks out in the beast's wages. The sore is where the mark was: judgment as disclosure, allegiance made visible in the flesh that chose it.
The second angel poured out his bowl into the sea, and it became blood as of a dead man. Every living thing in the sea died Revelation 16:3 — the second trumpet completed Revelation 8:8–9: not a third now but every living thing, the sea one clotted fatality — blood as of a dead man: the waters of the world's commerce and confidence congealed like a corpse's.
The third poured out his bowl into the rivers and springs of water, and they became blood Revelation 16:4.
The drinking waters — the springs the third trumpet embittered by thirds Revelation 8:10–11 — turn entirely to blood, and the next verses will state the sentence's logic aloud: they poured out the blood of saints and prophets, and you have given them blood to drink Revelation 16:6. The world that shed the blood of the witnesses through the long era Revelation 6:10 Revelation 13:15 is served its own vintage at its own taps — measure for measure, the courtroom exactness the altar has waited centuries to certify Revelation 16:7. The bowls are not chaos let loose; they are the ledger settled, line by line.
