Thyatira: The Woman Jezebel
Revelation 2:18-23

The longest letter goes to the least city, growth in love coexists with tolerated seduction, and the searcher of hearts sets a limit.
To the angel of the assembly in Thyatira write: The Son of God, who has his eyes like a flame of fire, and his feet are like burnished brass, says these things.
The longest of the seven letters goes to the least of the seven cities — a workshop town of trade guilds, bronze-workers and dyers. And it receives the loftiest title in the letters: the Son of God, said directly — with the flame-eyes and furnace-feet from the opening vision Revelation 1:14–15 chosen for a church whose problem is something hidden that must be seen and trodden.
The commendation registers growth: I know your works, your love, faith, service, patient endurance, and that your last works are more than the first Revelation 2:19 — the exact inverse of Ephesus: Thyatira's trajectory rises; its last exceeds its first. Love is present here, named first. The letters refuse every simple ranking — the loveless church guarded truth, and the loving church is about to be indicted for guarding nothing.
But I have this against you, that you tolerate your woman Jezebel, who calls herself a prophetess. She teaches and seduces my servants to commit sexual immorality and to eat things sacrificed to idols Revelation 2:20.
The charge is tolerance — the same failure as Pergamum's, further advanced: not some who hold a teaching but a self-titled prophetess teaching openly, with the pulpit's authority. The name is a verdict: Jezebel, the queen who brought Baal's table into Israel and killed the prophets who objected 1 Kings 18:4 1 Kings 21:25 — the Balaam method Revelation 2:14 now enthroned and ordained. In a guild town, her counsel had economics behind it: the feasts were the market, and her prophecy baptized the compromise.
And the letter shows the searcher's patience before his judgment: I gave her time to repent, but she refuses Revelation 2:21 — the door held open even for Jezebel, and the refusal hers. The sentence is measured to the sin — the bed of seduction becomes a bed of great oppression; her followers can still escape it, unless they repent of her works; her spiritual offspring meet death — and all the assemblies will know that I am he who searches the minds and hearts. I will give to each one of you according to your deeds Revelation 2:23.
The flame-eyes of the letterhead land there: nothing in Thyatira's workshops, feasts, or prophecies is opaque to him, and the judgment that begins at the house of God 1 Peter 4:17 is exactly what the assemblies are being shown.
