The River and the Tree of Life
Revelation 22:1-5

Eden reopens at the center of the city — river, tree, healed nations, no curse — and the servants see the face and reign forever.
He showed me a river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb, in the middle of its street.
The last landscape of the Bible is the first one, reopened. A river ran out of Eden to water the garden Genesis 2:10; Ezekiel saw it again, deepening from the temple threshold, healing the sea Ezekiel 47:1 Ezekiel 47:8–9; here it flows at last from its true source — the throne of God and of the Lamb, one throne, two persons, the book's final christological quietness — down the middle of the golden street: life's supply running through the city's daily traffic, not fenced in a sanctuary precinct.
On this side of the river and on that was the tree of life, bearing twelve kinds of fruits, yielding its fruit every month. The leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations Revelation 22:2.
The tree lost at the garden's closing Genesis 3:22–24 stands accessible on both banks — the first overcomer-promise kept in public Revelation 2:7: twelve harvests, one a month, abundance on the calendar of the people's own number. And the leaves for the healing of the nations — Ezekiel's clause Ezekiel 47:12: the city's ongoing gentleness, the nations that walked in by its light Revelation 21:24 carrying histories that are soothed, forever, under the tree they were once exiled from.
There will be no curse any more Revelation 22:3.
Four words, and the whole account since Eden closes. The curse — ground thorned, birth pained, life sentenced to dust Genesis 3:17–19 — is not merely suspended but no more: Zechariah's promise at full scale Zechariah 14:11. The throne of God and of the Lamb will be in it, and his servants will serve him — service as the city's joy, priesthood's verb without priesthood's barriers Revelation 7:15.
They will see his face, and his name will be on their foreheads Revelation 22:4.
The sentence Moses was refused — you cannot see my face, for man may not see me and live Exodus 33:20 — granted as the city's ordinary privilege: the pure in heart seeing God Matthew 5:8, the long mediation ended in acquaintance. And the forehead carries the name at last in the open Revelation 3:12 Revelation 14:1 — the seal's full form: identity resolved, allegiance visible, the mark-crisis answered eternally in one line of script.
There will be no night... for the Lord God will illuminate them. They will reign forever and ever Revelation 22:5.
The book's last statement about the redeemed is a coronation without end — the reign promised through every letter Revelation 3:21, secured through every crisis Revelation 20:4, now unqualified: servants who see the face, wear the name, and reign — the vision's final word before the epilogue begins.
