(b) to be temperate, discreet, self-controlled (opp. to μαίνεσθαι, ὑβρίζειν, etc.; Æsch., Thuc., al.): Tit 2:6; opp. to ὑπερφρονεῖν, Ro 12:3; σ. καὶ νήφειν, I Pe 4:7.†
