¹Yahweh’s word came to me, saying,

² “Son of man, prophesy against the prophets of Israel who prophesy, and say to those who prophesy out of their own heart, ‘Hear Yahweh’s word:

KJVSon^H1121 of man^H120, prophesy^H5012^(H8734) against the prophets^H5030 of Israel^H3478 that prophesy^H5012^(H8737), and say^H559^(H8804) thou unto them that prophesy^H5030 out of their own hearts^H3820, Hear^H8085^(H8798) ye the word^H1697 of the LORD^H3068;

³ The Lord Yahweh says, “Woe to the foolish prophets, who follow their own spirit, and have seen nothing!

KJVThus saith^H559^(H8804) the Lord^H136 GOD^H3069; Woe^H1945 unto the foolish^H5036 prophets^H5030, that follow^H1980^(H8802)^H310 their own spirit^H7307, and have seen^H7200^(H8804) nothing!

⁴ Israel, your prophets have been like foxes in the waste places.

KJVO Israel^H3478, thy prophets^H5030 are like the foxes^H7776 in the deserts^H2723.

⁵ You have not gone up into the gaps or built up the wall for the house of Israel, to stand in the battle in Yahweh’s day.

KJVYe have not gone up^H5927^(H8804) into the gaps^H6556, neither made up^H1443^(H8799) the hedge^H1447 for the house^H1004 of Israel^H3478 to stand^H5975^(H8800) in the battle^H4421 in the day^H3117 of the LORD^H3068.

⁶ They have seen falsehood and lying divination, who say, ‘Yahweh says;’ but Yahweh has not sent them. They have made men to hope that the word would be confirmed.

KJVThey have seen^H2372^(H8804) vanity^H7723 and lying^H3577 divination^H7081, saying^H559^(H8802), The LORD^H3068 saith^H5002^(H8803): and the LORD^H3068 hath not sent^H7971^(H8804) them: and they have made others to hope^H3176^(H8765) that they would confirm^H6965^(H8763) the word^H1697.

⁷ Haven’t you seen a false vision, and haven’t you spoken a lying divination, in that you say, ‘Yahweh says;’ but I have not spoken?”

KJVHave ye not seen^H2372^(H8804) a vain^H7723 vision^H4236, and have ye not spoken^H1696^(H8765) a lying^H3577 divination^H4738, whereas ye say^H559^(H8802), The LORD^H3068 saith^H5002^(H8803) it; albeit I have not spoken^H559^(H8804)?

⁸ “‘Therefore the Lord Yahweh says: “Because you have spoken falsehood and seen lies, therefore, behold, I am against you,” says the Lord Yahweh.

KJVTherefore thus saith^H559^(H8804) the Lord^H136 GOD^H3069; Because ye have spoken^H1696^(H8763) vanity^H7723, and seen^H2372^(H8804) lies^H3577, therefore, behold, I am against you, saith^H5002^(H8803) the Lord^H136 GOD^H3069.

⁹ “My hand will be against the prophets who see false visions and who utter lying divinations. They will not be in the council of my people, neither will they be written in the writing of the house of Israel, neither will they enter into the land of Israel. Then you will know that I am the Lord Yahweh.”

¹⁰ “‘Because, even because they have seduced my people, saying, “Peace;” and there is no peace. When one builds up a wall, behold, they plaster it with whitewash.

KJVBecause, even because they have seduced^H2937^(H8689) my people^H5971, saying^H559^(H8800), Peace^H7965; and there was no peace^H7965; and one built up^H1129^(H8802) a wall^H2434, and, lo^H2009, others daubed^H2902^(H8802) it with untempered^H8602 morter:

¹¹ Tell those who plaster it with whitewash that it will fall. There will be an overflowing shower; and you, great hailstones, will fall. A stormy wind will tear it.

¹² Behold, when the wall has fallen, won’t it be said to you, “Where is the plaster with which you have plastered it?”

KJVLo, when the wall^H7023 is fallen^H5307^(H8804), shall it not be said^H559^(H8735) unto you, Where is the daubing^H2915 wherewith ye have daubed^H2902^(H8804) it?

¹³ “‘Therefore the Lord Yahweh says: “I will even tear it with a stormy wind in my wrath. There will be an overflowing shower in my anger, and great hailstones in wrath to consume it.

KJVTherefore thus saith^H559^(H8804) the Lord^H136 GOD^H3069; I will even rend^H1234^(H8765) it with a stormy^H5591 wind^H7307 in my fury^H2534; and there shall be an overflowing^H7857^(H8802) shower^H1653 in mine anger^H639, and great hailstones^H417^H68 in my fury^H2534 to consume^H3617 it.

¹⁴ So I will break down the wall that you have plastered with whitewash, and bring it down to the ground, so that its foundation will be uncovered. It will fall, and you will be consumed in the middle of it. Then you will know that I am Yahweh.

¹⁵ Thus I will accomplish my wrath on the wall, and on those who have plastered it with whitewash. I will tell you, ‘The wall is no more, nor those who plastered it—

¹⁶ to wit, the prophets of Israel who prophesy concerning Jerusalem, and who see visions of peace for her, and there is no peace,’” says the Lord Yahweh.’”

¹⁷ You, son of man, set your face against the daughters of your people, who prophesy out of their own heart; and prophesy against them,

¹⁸ and say, “The Lord Yahweh says: ‘Woe to the women who sew magic bands on all elbows and make veils for the head of persons of every stature to hunt souls! Will you hunt the souls of my people and save souls alive for yourselves?

KJVAnd say^H559^(H8804), Thus saith^H559^(H8804) the Lord^H136 GOD^H3069; Woe^H1945 to the women that sew^H8609^(H8764) pillows^H3704 to all armholes^H679^H3027, and make^H6213^(H8802) kerchiefs^H4555 upon the head^H7218 of every stature^H6967 to hunt^H6679^(H8780) souls^H5315! Will ye hunt^H6679^(H8779) the souls^H5315 of my people^H5971, and will ye save^H2421 the souls^H5315 alive^H2421^(H8762) that come unto you?

¹⁹ You have profaned me among my people for handfuls of barley and for pieces of bread, to kill the souls who should not die and to save the souls alive who should not live, by your lying to my people who listen to lies.’

KJVAnd will ye pollute^H2490^(H8762) me among my people^H5971 for handfuls^H8168 of barley^H8184 and for pieces^H6595 of bread^H3899, to slay^H4191^(H8687) the souls^H5315 that should not die^H4191^(H8799), and to save^H2421 the souls^H5315 alive^H2421^(H8763) that should not live^H2421^(H8799), by your lying^H3576^(H8763) to my people^H5971 that hear^H8085^(H8802) your lies^H3577?

²⁰ “Therefore the Lord Yahweh says: ‘Behold, I am against your magic bands, with which you hunt the souls to make them fly, and I will tear them from your arms. I will let the souls fly free, even the souls whom you ensnare like birds.

KJVWherefore thus saith^H559^(H8804) the Lord^H136 GOD^H3069; Behold, I am against your pillows^H3704, wherewith ye^H859 there hunt^H6679^(H8781) the souls^H5315 to make them fly^H6524^(H8802), and I will tear^H7167^(H8804) them from your arms^H2220, and will let the souls^H5315 go^H7971^(H8765), even the souls^H5315 that ye hunt^H6679^(H8781) to make them fly^H6524^(H8802).

²¹ I will also tear your veils and deliver my people out of your hand; and they will no longer be in your hand to be ensnared. Then you will know that I am Yahweh.

KJVYour kerchiefs^H4555 also will I tear^H7167^(H8804), and deliver^H5337^(H8689) my people^H5971 out of your hand^H3027, and they shall be no more in your hand^H3027 to be hunted^H4686; and ye shall know^H3045^(H8804) that I am the LORD^H3068.

²² Because with lies you have grieved the heart of the righteous, whom I have not made sad; and strengthened the hands of the wicked, that he should not return from his wicked way, and be saved alive.

²³ Therefore you shall no more see false visions nor practice divination. I will deliver my people out of your hand. Then you will know that I am Yahweh.’”

¹Yahweh’s word also came to me, saying,

² “Son of man, you dwell in the middle of the rebellious house, who have eyes to see, and don’t see, who have ears to hear, and don’t hear; for they are a rebellious house.

KJVSon^H1121 of man^H120, thou dwellest^H3427^(H8802) in the midst^H8432 of a rebellious^H4805 house^H1004, which have eyes^H5869 to see^H7200^(H8800), and see^H7200^(H8804) not; they have ears^H241 to hear^H8085^(H8800), and hear^H8085^(H8804) not: for they are a rebellious^H4805 house^H1004.

³ “Therefore, you son of man, prepare your baggage for moving, and move by day in their sight. You shall move from your place to another place in their sight. It may be they will consider, though they are a rebellious house.

KJVTherefore, thou son^H1121 of man^H120, prepare^H6213^(H8798) thee stuff^H3627 for removing^H1473, and remove^H1540^(H8798) by day^H3119 in their sight^H5869; and thou shalt remove^H1540^(H8804) from thy place^H4725 to another^H312 place^H4725 in their sight^H5869: it may be they will consider^H7200^(H8799), though they be a rebellious^H4805 house^H1004.

⁴ You shall bring out your baggage by day in their sight, as baggage for moving. You shall go out yourself at evening in their sight, as when men go out into exile.

⁵ Dig through the wall in their sight, and carry your baggage out that way.

⁶ In their sight you shall bear it on your shoulder, and carry it out in the dark. You shall cover your face, so that you don’t see the land, for I have set you for a sign to the house of Israel.”

⁹ “Son of man, hasn’t the house of Israel, the rebellious house, said to you, ‘What are you doing?’

KJVSon^H1121 of man^H120, hath not the house^H1004 of Israel^H3478, the rebellious^H4805 house^H1004, said^H559^(H8804) unto thee, What doest^H6213^(H8802) thou?

¹⁰ “Say to them, ‘The Lord Yahweh says: “This burden concerns the prince in Jerusalem, and all the house of Israel among whom they are.”’

KJVSay^H559^(H8798) thou unto them, Thus saith^H559^(H8804) the Lord^H136 GOD^H3069; This burden^H4853 concerneth the prince^H5387 in Jerusalem^H3389, and all the house^H1004 of Israel^H3478 that are among^H8432 them.

¹¹ “Say, ‘I am your sign. As I have done, so will it be done to them. They will go into exile, into captivity.

¹² “‘The prince who is among them will bear his baggage on his shoulder in the dark, and will go out. They will dig through the wall to carry things out that way. He will cover his face, because he will not see the land with his eyes.

¹³ I will also spread my net on him, and he will be taken in my snare. I will bring him to Babylon to the land of the Chaldeans; yet he will not see it, though he will die there.

¹⁶ But I will leave a few men of them from the sword, from the famine, and from the pestilence, that they may declare all their abominations among the nations where they come. Then they will know that I am Yahweh.’”

¹⁸ “Son of man, eat your bread with quaking, and drink your water with trembling and with fearfulness.

¹⁹ Tell the people of the land, ‘The Lord Yahweh says concerning the inhabitants of Jerusalem and the land of Israel: “They will eat their bread with fearfulness and drink their water in dismay, that her land may be desolate, and all that is therein, because of the violence of all those who dwell therein.

KJVAnd say^H559^(H8804) unto the people^H5971 of the land^H127, Thus saith^H559^(H8804) the Lord^H136 GOD^H3069 of the inhabitants^H3427^(H8802) of Jerusalem^H3389, and of the land^H776 of Israel^H3478; They shall eat^H398^(H8799) their bread^H3899 with carefulness^H1674, and drink^H8354^(H8799) their water^H4325 with astonishment^H8078, that her land^H776 may be desolate^H3456^(H8799) from all that is therein^H4393, because of the violence^H2555 of all them that dwell^H3427^(H8802) therein.

²⁰ The cities that are inhabited will be laid waste, and the land will be a desolation. Then you will know that I am Yahweh.”’”

²¹ Yahweh’s word came to me, saying,

KJVAnd the word^H1697 of the LORD^H3068 came unto me, saying^H559^(H8800),

²² “Son of man, what is this proverb that you have in the land of Israel, saying, ‘The days are prolonged, and every vision fails’?

KJVSon^H1121 of man^H120, what is that proverb^H4912 that ye have in the land^H127 of Israel^H3478, saying^H559^(H8800), The days^H3117 are prolonged^H748^(H8799), and every vision^H2377 faileth^H6^(H8804)?

²³ Tell them therefore, ‘The Lord Yahweh says: “I will make this proverb to cease, and they will no more use it as a proverb in Israel;”’ but tell them, ‘“The days are at hand, and the fulfillment of every vision.

²⁴ For there will be no more any false vision nor flattering divination within the house of Israel.

²⁵ For I am Yahweh. I will speak, and the word that I speak will be performed. It will be no more deferred; for in your days, rebellious house, I will speak the word and will perform it,” says the Lord Yahweh.’”

²⁶ Again Yahweh’s word came to me, saying,

KJVAgain the word^H1697 of the LORD^H3068 came to me, saying^H559^(H8800),

²⁷ “Son of man, behold, they of the house of Israel say, ‘The vision that he sees is for many days to come, and he prophesies of times that are far off.’

KJVSon^H1121 of man^H120, behold, they of the house^H1004 of Israel^H3478 say^H559^(H8802), The vision^H2377 that he seeth^H2372^(H8802) is for many^H7227 days^H3117 to come, and he prophesieth^H5012^(H8738) of the times^H6256 that are far^H7350 off.

²⁸ “Therefore tell them, ‘The Lord Yahweh says: “None of my words will be deferred any more, but the word which I speak will be performed,” says the Lord Yahweh.’”

KJVTherefore say^H559^(H8798) unto them, Thus saith^H559^(H8804) the Lord^H136 GOD^H3069; There shall none of my words^H1697 be prolonged^H4900^(H8735) any more, but the word^H1697 which I have spoken^H1696^(H8762) shall be done^H6213^(H8735), saith^H5002^(H8803) the Lord^H136 GOD^H3069.
