¹Moreover Yahweh’s word came to me, saying,

² “You, son of man, will you judge? Will you judge the bloody city? Then cause her to know all her abominations.

KJVNow, thou son^H1121 of man^H120, wilt thou judge^H8199^(H8799), wilt thou judge^H8199^(H8799) the bloody^H1818 city^H5892? yea, thou shalt shew^H3045^(H8689) her all her abominations^H8441.

³ You shall say, ‘The Lord Yahweh says: “A city that sheds blood within herself, that her time may come, and that makes idols against herself to defile her!

KJVThen say^H559^(H8804) thou, Thus saith^H559^(H8804) the Lord^H136 GOD^H3069, The city^H5892 sheddeth^H8210^(H8802) blood^H1818 in the midst^H8432 of it, that her time^H6256 may come^H935^(H8800), and maketh^H6213^(H8804) idols^H1544 against herself to defile^H2930^(H8800) herself.

⁴ You have become guilty in your blood that you have shed, and are defiled in your idols which you have made! You have caused your days to draw near, and have come to the end of your years. Therefore I have made you a reproach to the nations, and a mocking to all the countries.

⁵ Those who are near and those who are far from you will mock you, you infamous one, full of tumult.

KJVThose that be near^H7138, and those that be far^H7350 from thee, shall mock^H7046^(H8691) thee, which art infamous^H2931^H8034 and much^H7227 vexed^H4103.

⁶ “‘“Behold, the princes of Israel, everyone according to his power, have been in you to shed blood.

KJVBehold, the princes^H5387 of Israel^H3478, every one^H376 were in thee to their power^H2220 to shed^H8210^(H8800) blood^H1818.

⁷ In you have they treated father and mother with contempt. Among you they have oppressed the foreigner. In you they have wronged the fatherless and the widow.

KJVIn thee have they set light^H7043^(H8689) by father^H1 and mother^H517: in the midst^H8432 of thee have they dealt^H6213^(H8804) by oppression^H6233 with the stranger^H1616: in thee have they vexed^H3238^(H8689) the fatherless^H3490 and the widow^H490.

⁸ You have despised my holy things, and have profaned my Sabbaths.

⁹ Slanderous men have been in you to shed blood. In you they have eaten on the mountains. They have committed lewdness among you.

KJVIn thee are men^H582 that carry tales^H7400 to shed^H8210^(H8800) blood^H1818: and in thee they eat^H398^(H8804) upon the mountains^H2022: in the midst^H8432 of thee they commit^H6213^(H8804) lewdness^H2154.

¹⁰ In you have they uncovered their fathers’ nakedness. In you have they humbled her who was unclean in her impurity.

KJVIn thee have they discovered^H1540^(H8765) their fathers^H1' nakedness^H6172: in thee have they humbled^H6031^(H8765) her that was set apart^H5079 for pollution^H2931.

¹¹ One has committed abomination with his neighbor’s wife, and another has lewdly defiled his daughter-in-law. Another in you has humbled his sister, his father’s daughter.

KJVAnd one^H376 hath committed^H6213^(H8804) abomination^H8441 with his neighbour's^H7453 wife^H802; and another^H376 hath lewdly^H2154 defiled^H2930^(H8765) his daughter in law^H3618; and another^H376 in thee hath humbled^H6031^(H8765) his sister^H269, his father's^H1 daughter^H1323.

¹² In you have they taken bribes to shed blood. You have taken interest and increase, and you have greedily gained of your neighbors by oppression, and have forgotten me,” says the Lord Yahweh.

¹³ “‘“Behold, therefore I have struck my hand at your dishonest gain which you have made, and at the blood which has been shed within you.

KJVBehold, therefore I have smitten^H5221^(H8689) mine hand^H3709 at thy dishonest gain^H1215 which thou hast made^H6213^(H8804), and at thy blood^H1818 which hath been in the midst^H8432 of thee.

¹⁴ Can your heart endure, or can your hands be strong, in the days that I will deal with you? I, Yahweh, have spoken it, and will do it.

KJVCan thine heart^H3820 endure^H5975^(H8799), or can thine hands^H3027 be strong^H2388^(H8799), in the days^H3117 that I shall deal^H6213^(H8802) with thee? I the LORD^H3068 have spoken^H1696^(H8765) it, and will do^H6213^(H8804) it.

¹⁵ I will scatter you among the nations, and disperse you through the countries. I will purge your filthiness out of you.

KJVAnd I will scatter^H6327^(H8689) thee among the heathen^H1471, and disperse^H2219^(H8765) thee in the countries^H776, and will consume^H8552^(H8689) thy filthiness^H2932 out of thee.

¹⁶ You will be profaned in yourself in the sight of the nations. Then you will know that I am Yahweh.”’”

KJVAnd thou shalt take thine inheritance^H2490^(H8738)^(H8676)^H5157^(H8765) in thyself in the sight^H5869 of the heathen^H1471, and thou shalt know^H3045^(H8804) that I am the LORD^H3068.

¹⁷ Yahweh’s word came to me, saying,

¹⁸ “Son of man, the house of Israel has become dross to me. All of them are bronze, tin, iron, and lead in the middle of the furnace. They are the dross of silver.

KJVSon^H1121 of man^H120, the house^H1004 of Israel^H3478 is to me become dross^H5509: all they are brass^H5178, and tin^H913, and iron^H1270, and lead^H5777, in the midst^H8432 of the furnace^H3564; they are even the dross^H5509 of silver^H3701.

¹⁹ Therefore the Lord Yahweh says: ‘Because you have all become dross, therefore, behold, I will gather you into the middle of Jerusalem.

KJVTherefore thus saith^H559^(H8804) the Lord^H136 GOD^H3069; Because ye are all become dross^H5509, behold, therefore I will gather^H6908^(H8802) you into the midst^H8432 of Jerusalem^H3389.

²⁰ As they gather silver, bronze, iron, lead, and tin into the middle of the furnace, to blow the fire on it, to melt it, so I will gather you in my anger and in my wrath, and I will lay you there and melt you.

²¹ Yes, I will gather you, and blow on you with the fire of my wrath, and you will be melted in the middle of it.

²² As silver is melted in the middle of the furnace, so you will be melted in the middle of it; and you will know that I, Yahweh, have poured out my wrath on you.’”

KJVAs silver^H3701 is melted^H2046 in the midst^H8432 of the furnace^H3564, so shall ye be melted^H5413^(H8714) in the midst^H8432 thereof; and ye shall know^H3045^(H8804) that I the LORD^H3068 have poured out^H8210^(H8804) my fury^H2534 upon you.

²³ Yahweh’s word came to me, saying,

²⁴ “Son of man, tell her, ‘You are a land that is not cleansed nor rained on in the day of indignation.’

KJVSon^H1121 of man^H120, say^H559^(H8798) unto her, Thou art the land^H776 that is not cleansed^H2891^(H8794), nor rained^H1656 upon in the day^H3117 of indignation^H2195.

²⁵ There is a conspiracy of her prophets within it, like a roaring lion ravening the prey. They have devoured souls. They take treasure and precious things. They have made many widows within it.

²⁶ Her priests have done violence to my law and have profaned my holy things. They have made no distinction between the holy and the common, neither have they caused men to discern between the unclean and the clean, and have hidden their eyes from my Sabbaths. So I am profaned among them.

²⁷ Her princes within it are like wolves ravening the prey, to shed blood and to destroy souls, that they may get dishonest gain.

²⁸ Her prophets have plastered for them with whitewash, seeing false visions, and divining lies to them, saying, ‘The Lord Yahweh says,’ when Yahweh has not spoken.

KJVAnd her prophets^H5030 have daubed^H2902^(H8804) them with untempered^H8602 morter, seeing^H2374 vanity^H7723, and divining^H7080^(H8802) lies^H3577 unto them, saying^H559^(H8802), Thus saith^H559^(H8804) the Lord^H136 GOD^H3069, when the LORD^H3068 hath not spoken^H1696^(H8765).

²⁹ The people of the land have used oppression and exercised robbery. Yes, they have troubled the poor and needy, and have oppressed the foreigner wrongfully.

KJVThe people^H5971 of the land^H776 have used oppression^H6231^(H8804)^H6233, and exercised^H1497^(H8804) robbery^H1498, and have vexed^H3238^(H8689) the poor^H6041 and needy^H34: yea, they have oppressed^H6231^(H8804) the stranger^H1616 wrongfully^H4941.

³⁰ “I sought for a man among them who would build up the wall and stand in the gap before me for the land, that I would not destroy it; but I found no one.

KJVAnd I sought^H1245^(H8762) for a man^H376 among them, that should make up^H1443^(H8802) the hedge^H1447, and stand^H5975^(H8802) in the gap^H6556 before^H6440 me for the land^H776, that I should not destroy^H7843^(H8763) it: but I found^H4672^(H8804) none.

³¹ Therefore I have poured out my indignation on them. I have consumed them with the fire of my wrath. I have brought their own way on their heads,” says the Lord Yahweh.

² “Son of man, set your face toward Jerusalem, and preach toward the sanctuaries, and prophesy against the land of Israel.

KJVSon^H1121 of man^H120, set^H7760^(H8798) thy face^H6440 toward Jerusalem^H3389, and drop^H5197^(H8685) thy word toward the holy places^H4720, and prophesy^H5012^(H8734) against the land^H127 of Israel^H3478,

³ Tell the land of Israel, ‘Yahweh says: “Behold, I am against you, and will draw my sword out of its sheath, and will cut off from you the righteous and the wicked.

KJVAnd say^H559^(H8804) to the land^H127 of Israel^H3478, Thus saith^H559^(H8804) the LORD^H3068; Behold, I am against thee, and will draw forth^H3318^(H8689) my sword^H2719 out of his sheath^H8593, and will cut off^H3772^(H8689) from thee the righteous^H6662 and the wicked^H7563.

⁴ Seeing then that I will cut off from you the righteous and the wicked, therefore my sword will go out of its sheath against all flesh from the south to the north.

⁶ “Therefore sigh, you son of man. You shall sigh before their eyes with a broken heart and with bitterness.

⁷ It shall be, when they ask you, ‘Why do you sigh?’ that you shall say, ‘Because of the news, for it comes! Every heart will melt, all hands will be feeble, every spirit will faint, and all knees will be weak as water. Behold, it comes, and it shall be done, says the Lord Yahweh.’”

⁸ Yahweh’s word came to me, saying,

⁹ “Son of man, prophesy, and say, ‘Yahweh says: “A sword! A sword! It is sharpened, and also polished.

KJVSon^H1121 of man^H120, prophesy^H5012^(H8734), and say^H559^(H8804), Thus saith^H559^(H8804) the LORD^H3068; Say^H559^(H8798), A sword^H2719, a sword^H2719 is sharpened^H2300^(H8717), and also furbished^H4803^(H8803):

¹⁰ It is sharpened that it may make a slaughter. It is polished that it may be as lightning. Should we then make mirth? The rod of my son condemns every tree.

KJVIt is sharpened^H2300^(H8717) to make a sore^H2874 slaughter^H2873^(H8800); it is furbished^H4178^(H8794) that it may glitter^H1300: should^H176 we then make mirth^H7797^(H8799)? it contemneth^H3988^(H8802) the rod^H7626 of my son^H1121, as every tree^H6086.

¹¹ It is given to be polished, that it may be handled. The sword is sharpened. Yes, it is polished to give it into the hand of the killer.”’

¹² Cry and wail, son of man; for it is on my people. It is on all the princes of Israel. They are delivered over to the sword with my people. Therefore beat your thigh.

¹³ “For there is a trial. What if even the rod that condemns will be no more?” says the Lord Yahweh.

KJVBecause it is a trial^H974^(H8795), and what if the sword contemn^H3988^(H8802) even the rod^H7626? it shall be no more, saith^H5002^(H8803) the Lord^H136 GOD^H3069.

¹⁴ “You therefore, son of man, prophesy, and strike your hands together. Let the sword be doubled the third time, the sword of the fatally wounded. It is the sword of the great one who is fatally wounded, which enters into their rooms.

¹⁵ I have set the threatening sword against all their gates, that their heart may melt, and their stumblings be multiplied. Ah! It is made as lightning. It is pointed for slaughter.

¹⁶ Gather yourselves together. Go to the right. Set yourselves in array. Go to the left, wherever your face is set.

¹⁷ I will also strike my hands together, and I will cause my wrath to rest. I, Yahweh, have spoken it.”

¹⁸ Yahweh’s word came to me again, saying,

¹⁹ “Also, you son of man, appoint two ways, that the sword of the king of Babylon may come. They both will come out of one land, and mark out a place. Mark it out at the head of the way to the city.

KJVAlso, thou son^H1121 of man^H120, appoint^H7760^(H8798) thee two^H8147 ways^H1870, that the sword^H2719 of the king^H4428 of Babylon^H894 may come^H935^(H8800): both twain^H8147 shall come forth^H3318^(H8799) out of one^H259 land^H776: and choose^H1254^(H8761) thou a place^H3027, choose^H1254^(H8761) it at the head^H7218 of the way^H1870 to the city^H5892.

²⁰ You shall appoint a way for the sword to come to Rabbah of the children of Ammon, and to Judah in Jerusalem the fortified.

²¹ For the king of Babylon stood at the parting of the way, at the head of the two ways, to use divination. He shook the arrows back and forth. He consulted the teraphim. He looked in the liver.

²³ It will be to them as a false divination in their sight, who have sworn oaths to them; but he brings iniquity to memory, that they may be taken.

²⁴ “Therefore the Lord Yahweh says: ‘Because you have caused your iniquity to be remembered, in that your transgressions are uncovered, so that in all your doings your sins appear; because you have come to memory, you will be taken with the hand.

KJVTherefore thus saith^H559^(H8804) the Lord^H136 GOD^H3069; Because ye have made your iniquity^H5771 to be remembered^H2142^(H8687), in that your transgressions^H6588 are discovered^H1540^(H8736), so that in all your doings^H5949 your sins^H2403 do appear^H7200^(H8736); because, I say, that ye are come to remembrance^H2142^(H8736), ye shall be taken^H8610^(H8735) with the hand^H3709.

²⁵ “‘You, deadly wounded wicked one, the prince of Israel, whose day has come, in the time of the iniquity of the end,

KJVAnd thou, profane^H2491 wicked^H7563 prince^H5387 of Israel^H3478, whose day^H3117 is come^H935^(H8804), when^H6256 iniquity^H5771 shall have an end^H7093,

²⁶ the Lord Yahweh says: “Remove the turban, and take off the crown. This will not be as it was. Exalt that which is low, and humble that which is high.

KJVThus saith^H559^(H8804) the Lord^H136 GOD^H3069; Remove^H5493^(H8685) the diadem^H4701, and take off^H7311^(H8685) the crown^H5850: this shall not be the same^H2063: exalt^H1361^(H8687) him that is low^H8217, and abase^H8213^(H8687) him that is high^H1364.

²⁷ I will overturn, overturn, overturn it. This also will be no more, until he comes whose right it is; and I will give it.”’

²⁸ “You, son of man, prophesy and say, ‘The Lord Yahweh says this concerning the children of Ammon, and concerning their reproach: “A sword! A sword is drawn! It is polished for the slaughter, to cause it to devour, that it may be as lightning;

KJVAnd thou, son^H1121 of man^H120, prophesy^H5012^(H8734) and say^H559^(H8804), Thus saith^H559^(H8804) the Lord^H136 GOD^H3069 concerning the Ammonites^H1121^H5983, and concerning their reproach^H2781; even say^H559^(H8804) thou, The sword^H2719, the sword^H2719 is drawn^H6605^(H8803): for the slaughter^H2874 it is furbished^H4803^(H8803), to consume^H398^(H8687) because of the glittering^H1300:

²⁹ while they see for you false visions, while they divine lies to you, to lay you on the necks of the wicked who are deadly wounded, whose day has come in the time of the iniquity of the end.
