¹In the tenth year, in the tenth month, on the twelfth day of the month, Yahweh’s word came to me, saying,

² “Son of man, set your face against Pharaoh king of Egypt, and prophesy against him and against all Egypt.

KJVSon^H1121 of man^H120, set^H7760^(H8798) thy face^H6440 against Pharaoh^H6547 king^H4428 of Egypt^H4714, and prophesy^H5012^(H8734) against him, and against all Egypt^H4714:

³ Speak and say, ‘The Lord Yahweh says: “Behold, I am against you, Pharaoh king of Egypt, the great monster that lies in the middle of his rivers, that has said, ‘My river is my own, and I have made it for myself.’

⁴ I will put hooks in your jaws, and I will make the fish of your rivers stick to your scales. I will bring you up out of the middle of your rivers, with all the fish of your rivers which stick to your scales.

KJVBut I will put^H5414^(H8804) hooks^H2397^(H8676)^H2397 in thy jaws^H3895, and I will cause the fish^H1710 of thy rivers^H2975 to stick^H1692^(H8689) unto thy scales^H7193, and I will bring thee up^H5927^(H8689) out of the midst^H8432 of thy rivers^H2975, and all the fish^H1710 of thy rivers^H2975 shall stick^H1692^(H8799) unto thy scales^H7193.

⁵ I’ll cast you out into the wilderness, you and all the fish of your rivers. You’ll fall on the open field. You won’t be brought together or gathered. I have given you for food to the animals of the earth and to the birds of the sky.

KJVAnd I will leave^H5203^(H8804) thee thrown into the wilderness^H4057, thee and all the fish^H1710 of thy rivers^H2975: thou shalt fall^H5307^(H8799) upon the open^H6440 fields^H7704; thou shalt not be brought together^H622^(H8735), nor gathered^H6908^(H8735): I have given^H5414^(H8804) thee for meat^H402 to the beasts^H2416 of the field^H776 and to the fowls^H5775 of the heaven^H8064.

⁶ “‘“All the inhabitants of Egypt will know that I am Yahweh, because they have been a staff of reed to the house of Israel.

KJVAnd all the inhabitants^H3427^(H8802) of Egypt^H4714 shall know^H3045^(H8804) that I am the LORD^H3068, because they have been a staff^H4938 of reed^H7070 to the house^H1004 of Israel^H3478.

⁷ When they took hold of you by your hand, you broke and tore all their shoulders. When they leaned on you, you broke and paralyzed all of their thighs.”

⁸ “‘Therefore the Lord Yahweh says: “Behold, I will bring a sword on you, and will cut off man and animal from you.

KJVTherefore thus saith^H559^(H8804) the Lord^H136 GOD^H3069; Behold, I will bring^H935^(H8688) a sword^H2719 upon thee, and cut off^H3772^(H8689) man^H120 and beast^H929 out of thee.

⁹ The land of Egypt will be a desolation and a waste. Then they will know that I am Yahweh. “‘“Because he has said, ‘The river is mine, and I have made it,’

KJVAnd the land^H776 of Egypt^H4714 shall be desolate^H8077 and waste^H2723; and they shall know^H3045^(H8804) that I am the LORD^H3068: because he hath said^H559^(H8804), The river^H2975 is mine, and I have made^H6213^(H8804) it.

¹⁰ therefore, behold, I am against you and against your rivers. I will make the land of Egypt an utter waste and desolation, from the tower of Seveneh even to the border of Ethiopia.

KJVBehold, therefore I am against thee, and against thy rivers^H2975, and I will make^H5414^(H8804) the land^H776 of Egypt^H4714 utterly^H2721 waste^H2723 and desolate^H8077, from the tower^H4024 of Syene^H5482 even unto the border^H1366 of Ethiopia^H3568.

¹¹ No foot of man will pass through it, nor will any animal foot pass through it. It won’t be inhabited for forty years.

KJVNo foot^H7272 of man^H120 shall pass through^H5674^(H8799) it, nor foot^H7272 of beast^H929 shall pass through^H5674^(H8799) it, neither shall it be inhabited^H3427^(H8799) forty^H705 years^H8141.

¹² I will make the land of Egypt a desolation in the middle of the countries that are desolate. Her cities among the cities that are laid waste will be a desolation forty years. I will scatter the Egyptians among the nations, and will disperse them through the countries.”

¹³ “‘For the Lord Yahweh says: “At the end of forty years I will gather the Egyptians from the peoples where they were scattered.

KJVYet thus saith^H559^(H8804) the Lord^H136 GOD^H3069; At the end^H7093 of forty^H705 years^H8141 will I gather^H6908^(H8762) the Egyptians^H4714 from the people^H5971 whither they were scattered^H6327^(H8738):

¹⁴ I will reverse the captivity of Egypt, and will cause them to return into the land of Pathros, into the land of their birth. There they will be a lowly kingdom.

KJVAnd I will bring again^H7725^(H8804) the captivity^H7622 of Egypt^H4714, and will cause them to return^H7725^(H8689) into the land^H776 of Pathros^H6624, into the land^H776 of their habitation^H4351; and they shall be there a base^H8217 kingdom^H4467.

¹⁵ It will be the lowest of the kingdoms. It won’t lift itself up above the nations any more. I will diminish them so that they will no longer rule over the nations.

KJVIt shall be the basest^H8217 of the kingdoms^H4467; neither shall it exalt^H5375^(H8691) itself any more above the nations^H1471: for I will diminish^H4591^(H8689) them, that they shall no more rule^H7287^(H8800) over the nations^H1471.

¹⁶ It will no longer be the confidence of the house of Israel, bringing iniquity to memory, when they turn to look after them. Then they will know that I am the Lord Yahweh.”’”

¹⁷ It came to pass in the twenty-seventh year, in the first month, in the first day of the month, Yahweh’s word came to me, saying,

KJVAnd it came to pass in the seven^H7651 and twentieth^H6242 year^H8141, in the first^H7223 month, in the first^H259 day of the month^H2320, the word^H1697 of the LORD^H3068 came unto me, saying^H559^(H8800),

¹⁸ “Son of man, Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon caused his army to serve a great service against Tyre. Every head was made bald, and every shoulder was worn; yet he had no wages, nor did his army, from Tyre, for the service that he had served against it.

¹⁹ Therefore the Lord Yahweh says: ‘Behold, I will give the land of Egypt to Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon. He will carry off her multitude, take her plunder, and take her prey. That will be the wages for his army.

KJVTherefore thus saith^H559^(H8804) the Lord^H136 GOD^H3069; Behold, I will give^H5414^(H8802) the land^H776 of Egypt^H4714 unto Nebuchadrezzar^H5019 king^H4428 of Babylon^H894; and he shall take^H5375^(H8804) her multitude^H1995, and take^H7997^(H8804) her spoil^H7998, and take^H962^(H8804) her prey^H957; and it shall be the wages^H7939 for his army^H2428.

²⁰ I have given him the land of Egypt as his payment for which he served, because they worked for me,’ says the Lord Yahweh.

KJVI have given^H5414^(H8804) him the land^H776 of Egypt^H4714 for his labour^H6468 wherewith he served^H5647^(H8804) against it, because they wrought^H6213^(H8804) for me, saith^H5002^(H8803) the Lord^H136 GOD^H3069.

²¹ “In that day I will cause a horn to sprout for the house of Israel, and I will open your mouth among them. Then they will know that I am Yahweh.”

KJVIn that day^H3117 will I cause^H6779 the horn^H7161 of the house^H1004 of Israel^H3478 to bud forth^H6779^(H8686), and I will give^H5414^(H8799) thee the opening^H6610 of the mouth^H6310 in the midst^H8432 of them; and they shall know^H3045^(H8804) that I am the LORD^H3068.

¹Yahweh’s word came again to me, saying,

² “Son of man, tell the prince of Tyre, ‘The Lord Yahweh says: “Because your heart is lifted up, and you have said, ‘I am a god, I sit in the seat of God, in the middle of the seas;’ yet you are man, and no god, though you set your heart as the heart of a god—

KJVSon^H1121 of man^H120, say^H559^(H8798) unto the prince^H5057 of Tyrus^H6865, Thus saith^H559^(H8804) the Lord^H136 GOD^H3069; Because thine heart^H3820 is lifted up^H1361^(H8804), and thou hast said^H559^(H8799), I am a God^H410, I sit^H3427^(H8804) in the seat^H4186 of God^H430, in the midst^H3820 of the seas^H3220; yet thou art a man^H120, and not God^H410, though thou set^H5414^(H8799) thine heart^H3820 as the heart^H3820 of God^H430:

³ behold, you are wiser than Daniel. There is no secret that is hidden from you.

KJVBehold, thou art wiser^H2450 than Daniel^H1840; there is no secret^H5640^(H8803) that they can hide^H6004^(H8804) from thee:

⁴ By your wisdom and by your understanding you have gotten yourself riches, and have gotten gold and silver into your treasuries.

KJVWith thy wisdom^H2451 and with thine understanding^H8394 thou hast gotten^H6213^(H8804) thee riches^H2428, and hast gotten^H6213^(H8799) gold^H2091 and silver^H3701 into thy treasures^H214:

⁵ By your great wisdom and by your trading you have increased your riches, and your heart is lifted up because of your riches—”

KJVBy thy great^H7230 wisdom^H2451 and by thy traffick^H7404 hast thou increased^H7235^(H8689) thy riches^H2428, and thine heart^H3824 is lifted up^H1361^(H8799) because of thy riches^H2428:

⁶ “‘therefore the Lord Yahweh says: “Because you have set your heart as the heart of God,

KJVTherefore thus saith^H559^(H8804) the Lord^H136 GOD^H3069; Because thou hast set^H5414^(H8800) thine heart^H3820 as the heart^H3824 of God^H430;

⁷ therefore, behold, I will bring strangers on you, the terrible of the nations. They will draw their swords against the beauty of your wisdom. They will defile your brightness.

KJVBehold, therefore I will bring^H935^(H8688) strangers^H2114^(H8801) upon thee, the terrible^H6184 of the nations^H1471: and they shall draw^H7324^(H8689) their swords^H2719 against the beauty^H3308 of thy wisdom^H2451, and they shall defile^H2490^(H8765) thy brightness^H3314.

⁸ They will bring you down to the pit. You will die the death of those who are slain in the heart of the seas.

⁹ Will you yet say before him who kills you, ‘I am God’? But you are man, and not God, in the hand of him who wounds you.

KJVWilt thou yet^H559^(H8800) say^H559^(H8799) before^H6440 him that slayeth^H2026^(H8802) thee, I am God^H430? but thou shalt be a man^H120, and no God^H410, in the hand^H3027 of him that slayeth^H2490^(H8764) thee.

¹⁰ You will die the death of the uncircumcised by the hand of strangers; for I have spoken it,” says the Lord Yahweh.’”

¹¹ Moreover Yahweh’s word came to me, saying,

¹² “Son of man, take up a lamentation over the king of Tyre, and tell him, ‘The Lord Yahweh says: “You were the seal of full measure, full of wisdom, and perfect in beauty.

KJVSon^H1121 of man^H120, take up^H5375^(H8798) a lamentation^H7015 upon the king^H4428 of Tyrus^H6865, and say^H559^(H8804) unto him, Thus saith^H559^(H8804) the Lord^H136 GOD^H3069; Thou sealest up^H2856^(H8802) the sum^H8508, full^H4392 of wisdom^H2451, and perfect^H3632 in beauty^H3308.

¹³ You were in Eden, the garden of God. Every precious stone adorned you: ruby, topaz, emerald, chrysolite, onyx, jasper, sapphire, turquoise, and beryl. Gold work of tambourines and of pipes was in you. They were prepared in the day that you were created.

KJVThou hast been in Eden^H5731 the garden^H1588 of God^H430; every precious^H3368 stone^H68 was thy covering^H4540, the sardius^H124, topaz^H6357, and the diamond^H3095, the beryl^H8658, the onyx^H7718, and the jasper^H3471, the sapphire^H5601, the emerald^H5306, and the carbuncle^H1304, and gold^H2091: the workmanship^H4399 of thy tabrets^H8596 and of thy pipes^H5345 was prepared^H3559^(H8797) in thee in the day^H3117 that thou wast created^H1254^(H8736).

¹⁴ You were the anointed cherub who covers. Then I set you up on the holy mountain of God. You have walked up and down in the middle of the stones of fire.

KJVThou art the anointed^H4473 cherub^H3742 that covereth^H5526^(H8802); and I have set^H5414^(H8804) thee so: thou wast upon the holy^H6944 mountain^H2022 of God^H430; thou hast walked up and down^H1980^(H8694) in the midst^H8432 of the stones^H68 of fire^H784.

¹⁵ You were perfect in your ways from the day that you were created, until unrighteousness was found in you.

KJVThou wast perfect^H8549 in thy ways^H1870 from the day^H3117 that thou wast created^H1254^(H8736), till iniquity^H5766 was found^H4672^(H8738) in thee.

¹⁶ By the abundance of your commerce, your insides were filled with violence, and you have sinned. Therefore I have cast you as profane out of God’s mountain. I have destroyed you, covering cherub, from the middle of the stones of fire.

KJVBy the multitude^H7230 of thy merchandise^H7404 they have filled^H4390^(H8804) the midst^H8432 of thee with violence^H2555, and thou hast sinned^H2398^(H8799): therefore I will cast thee as profane^H2490^(H8762) out of the mountain^H2022 of God^H430: and I will destroy^H6^(H8762) thee, O covering^H5526^(H8802) cherub^H3742, from the midst^H8432 of the stones^H68 of fire^H784.

¹⁷ Your heart was lifted up because of your beauty. You have corrupted your wisdom by reason of your splendor. I have cast you to the ground. I have laid you before kings, that they may see you.

¹⁸ By the multitude of your iniquities, in the unrighteousness of your commerce, you have profaned your sanctuaries. Therefore I have brought out a fire from the middle of you. It has devoured you. I have turned you to ashes on the earth in the sight of all those who see you.

KJVThou hast defiled^H2490^(H8765) thy sanctuaries^H4720 by the multitude^H7230 of thine iniquities^H5771, by the iniquity^H5766 of thy traffick^H7404; therefore will I bring forth^H3318^(H8686) a fire^H784 from the midst^H8432 of thee, it shall devour^H398^(H8804) thee, and I will bring^H5414^(H8799) thee to ashes^H665 upon the earth^H776 in the sight^H5869 of all them that behold^H7200^(H8802) thee.

¹⁹ All those who know you among the peoples will be astonished at you. You have become a terror, and you will exist no more.”’”

KJVAll they that know^H3045^(H8802) thee among the people^H5971 shall be astonished^H8074^(H8804) at thee: thou shalt be a terror^H1091, and never^H369 shalt thou be any more^H5704^H5769.

²⁰ Yahweh’s word came to me, saying,

KJVAgain the word^H1697 of the LORD^H3068 came unto me, saying^H559^(H8800),

²¹ “Son of man, set your face toward Sidon, and prophesy against it,

KJVSon^H1121 of man^H120, set^H7760^(H8798) thy face^H6440 against Zidon^H6721, and prophesy^H5012^(H8734) against it,

²² and say, ‘The Lord Yahweh says: “Behold, I am against you, Sidon. I will be glorified among you. Then they will know that I am Yahweh, when I have executed judgments in her, and am sanctified in her.

KJVAnd say^H559^(H8804), Thus saith^H559^(H8804) the Lord^H136 GOD^H3069; Behold, I am against thee, O Zidon^H6721; and I will be glorified^H3513^(H8738) in the midst^H8432 of thee: and they shall know^H3045^(H8804) that I am the LORD^H3068, when I shall have executed^H6213^(H8800) judgments^H8201 in her, and shall be sanctified^H6942^(H8738) in her.

²³ For I will send pestilence into her, and blood into her streets. The wounded will fall within her, with the sword on her on every side. Then they will know that I am Yahweh.

KJVFor I will send^H7971^(H8765) into her pestilence^H1698, and blood^H1818 into her streets^H2351; and the wounded^H2491 shall be judged^H5307^(H8768) in the midst^H8432 of her by the sword^H2719 upon her on every side^H5439; and they shall know^H3045^(H8804) that I am the LORD^H3068.

²⁴ “‘“There will no longer be a pricking brier to the house of Israel, nor a hurting thorn of any that are around them that scorned them. Then they will know that I am the Lord Yahweh.”

KJVAnd there shall be no more a pricking^H3992^(H8688) brier^H5544 unto the house^H1004 of Israel^H3478, nor any grieving^H3510^(H8688) thorn^H6975 of all that are round about^H5439 them, that despised^H7590^(H8801) them; and they shall know^H3045^(H8804) that I am the Lord^H136 GOD^H3069.

²⁵ “‘The Lord Yahweh says: “When I have gathered the house of Israel from the peoples among whom they are scattered, and am shown as holy among them in the sight of the nations, then they will dwell in their own land which I gave to my servant Jacob.

KJVThus saith^H559^(H8804) the Lord^H136 GOD^H3069; When I shall have gathered^H6908^(H8763) the house^H1004 of Israel^H3478 from the people^H5971 among whom they are scattered^H6327^(H8738), and shall be sanctified^H6942^(H8738) in them in the sight^H5869 of the heathen^H1471, then shall they dwell^H3427^(H8804) in their land^H127 that I have given^H5414^(H8804) to my servant^H5650 Jacob^H3290.

²⁶ They will dwell in it securely. Yes, they will build houses, plant vineyards, and will dwell securely when I have executed judgments on all those around them who have treated them with contempt. Then they will know that I am Yahweh their God.”’”

KJVAnd they shall dwell^H3427^(H8804) safely^H983 therein, and shall build^H1129^(H8804) houses^H1004, and plant^H5193^(H8804) vineyards^H3754; yea, they shall dwell^H3427^(H8804) with confidence^H983, when I have executed^H6213^(H8800) judgments^H8201 upon all those that despise^H7590^(H8801) them round about^H5439 them; and they shall know^H3045^(H8804) that I am the LORD^H3068 their God^H430.
