¹You, son of man, prophesy to the mountains of Israel, and say, “You mountains of Israel, hear Yahweh’s word.

KJVAlso, thou son^H1121 of man^H120, prophesy^H5012^(H8734) unto the mountains^H2022 of Israel^H3478, and say^H559^(H8804), Ye mountains^H2022 of Israel^H3478, hear^H8085^(H8798) the word^H1697 of the LORD^H3068:

² The Lord Yahweh says: ‘Because the enemy has said against you, “Aha!” and, “The ancient high places are ours in possession!”’

KJVThus saith^H559^(H8804) the Lord^H136 GOD^H3069; Because the enemy^H341^(H8802) hath said^H559^(H8804) against you, Aha^H1889, even the ancient^H5769 high places^H1116 are ours in possession^H4181:

³ therefore prophesy, and say, ‘The Lord Yahweh says: “Because, even because they have made you desolate, and swallowed you up on every side, that you might be a possession to the residue of the nations, and you are taken up in the lips of talkers, and the evil report of the people;”

⁴ therefore, you mountains of Israel, hear the word of the Lord Yahweh: The Lord Yahweh says to the mountains and to the hills, to the watercourses and to the valleys, to the desolate wastes and to the cities that are forsaken, which have become a prey and derision to the residue of the nations that are all around;

⁵ therefore the Lord Yahweh says: “Surely in the fire of my jealousy I have spoken against the residue of the nations, and against all Edom, that have appointed my land to themselves for a possession with the joy of all their heart, with despite of soul, to cast it out for a prey.”’

KJVTherefore thus saith^H559^(H8804) the Lord^H136 GOD^H3069; Surely in the fire^H784 of my jealousy^H7068 have I spoken^H1696^(H8765) against the residue^H7611 of the heathen^H1471, and against all Idumea^H123, which have appointed^H5414^(H8804) my land^H776 into their possession^H4181 with the joy^H8057 of all their heart^H3824, with despiteful^H7589 minds^H5315, to cast it out^H4054 for a prey^H957.

⁶ Therefore prophesy concerning the land of Israel, and tell the mountains, the hills, the watercourses and the valleys, ‘The Lord Yahweh says: “Behold, I have spoken in my jealousy and in my wrath, because you have borne the shame of the nations.”

⁷ Therefore the Lord Yahweh says: “I have sworn, ‘Surely the nations that are around you will bear their shame.’

KJVTherefore thus saith^H559^(H8804) the Lord^H136 GOD^H3069; I have lifted up^H5375^(H8804) mine hand^H3027, Surely the heathen^H1471 that are about^H5439 you, they shall bear^H5375^(H8799) their shame^H3639.

⁸ “‘“But you, mountains of Israel, you shall shoot out your branches and yield your fruit to my people Israel; for they are at hand to come.

KJVBut ye, O mountains^H2022 of Israel^H3478, ye shall shoot forth^H5414^(H8799) your branches^H6057, and yield^H5375^(H8799) your fruit^H6529 to my people^H5971 of Israel^H3478; for they are at hand^H7126^(H8765) to come^H935^(H8800).

⁹ For, behold, I am for you, and I will come to you, and you will be tilled and sown.

KJVFor, behold, I am for you, and I will turn^H6437^(H8804) unto you, and ye shall be tilled^H5647^(H8738) and sown^H2232^(H8738):

¹⁰ I will multiply men on you, all the house of Israel, even all of it. The cities will be inhabited and the waste places will be built.

KJVAnd I will multiply^H7235^(H8689) men^H120 upon you, all the house^H1004 of Israel^H3478, even all of it: and the cities^H5892 shall be inhabited^H3427^(H8738), and the wastes^H2723 shall be builded^H1129^(H8735):

¹¹ I will multiply man and animal on you. They will increase and be fruitful. I will cause you to be inhabited as you were before, and you will do better than at your beginnings. Then you will know that I am Yahweh.

KJVAnd I will multiply^H7235^(H8689) upon you man^H120 and beast^H929; and they shall increase^H7235^(H8804) and bring fruit^H6509^(H8804): and I will settle^H3427^(H8689) you after your old estates^H6927, and will do better^H2895^(H8689) unto you than at your beginnings^H7221: and ye shall know^H3045^(H8804) that I am the LORD^H3068.

¹² Yes, I will cause men to walk on you, even my people Israel. They will possess you, and you will be their inheritance, and you will never again bereave them of their children.”

¹³ “‘The Lord Yahweh says: “Because they say to you, ‘You are a devourer of men, and have been a bereaver of your nation;’

KJVThus saith^H559^(H8804) the Lord^H136 GOD^H3069; Because they say^H559^(H8802) unto you, Thou land devourest up^H398^(H8802) men^H120, and hast bereaved^H7921^(H8764) thy nations^H1471;

¹⁴ therefore you shall devour men no more, and not bereave your nation any more,” says the Lord Yahweh.

KJVTherefore thou shalt devour^H398^(H8799) men^H120 no more, neither bereave^H7921^(H8762)^H3782^(H8762) thy nations^H1471 any more, saith^H5002^(H8803) the Lord^H136 GOD^H3069.

¹⁵ “I won’t let you hear the shame of the nations any more. You won’t bear the reproach of the peoples any more, and you won’t cause your nation to stumble any more,” says the Lord Yahweh.’”

¹⁶ Moreover Yahweh’s word came to me, saying,

¹⁷ “Son of man, when the house of Israel lived in their own land, they defiled it by their ways and by their deeds. Their way before me was as the uncleanness of a woman in her impurity.

KJVSon^H1121 of man^H120, when the house^H1004 of Israel^H3478 dwelt^H3427^(H8802) in their own land^H127, they defiled^H2930^(H8762) it by their own way^H1870 and by their doings^H5949: their way^H1870 was before^H6440 me as the uncleanness^H2932 of a removed woman^H5079.

¹⁸ Therefore I poured out my wrath on them for the blood which they had poured out on the land, and because they had defiled it with their idols.

KJVWherefore I poured^H8210^(H8799) my fury^H2534 upon them for the blood^H1818 that they had shed^H8210^(H8804) upon the land^H776, and for their idols^H1544 wherewith they had polluted^H2930^(H8765) it:

¹⁹ I scattered them among the nations, and they were dispersed through the countries. I judged them according to their way and according to their deeds.

²⁰ When they came to the nations where they went, they profaned my holy name, in that men said of them, ‘These are Yahweh’s people, and have left his land.’

KJVAnd when they entered^H935^(H8799) unto the heathen^H1471, whither they went^H935^(H8804), they profaned^H2490^(H8762) my holy^H6944 name^H8034, when they said^H559^(H8800) to them, These are the people^H5971 of the LORD^H3068, and are gone forth^H3318^(H8804) out of his land^H776.

²¹ But I had respect for my holy name, which the house of Israel had profaned among the nations where they went.

KJVBut I had pity^H2550^(H8799) for mine holy^H6944 name^H8034, which the house^H1004 of Israel^H3478 had profaned^H2490^(H8765) among the heathen^H1471, whither they went^H935^(H8804).

²² “Therefore tell the house of Israel, ‘The Lord Yahweh says: “I don’t do this for your sake, house of Israel, but for my holy name, which you have profaned among the nations where you went.

KJVTherefore say^H559^(H8798) unto the house^H1004 of Israel^H3478, Thus saith^H559^(H8804) the Lord^H136 GOD^H3069; I do^H6213^(H8802) not this for your sakes, O house^H1004 of Israel^H3478, but for mine holy^H6944 name's^H8034 sake, which ye have profaned^H2490^(H8765) among the heathen^H1471, whither ye went^H935^(H8804).

²³ I will sanctify my great name, which has been profaned among the nations, which you have profaned among them. Then the nations will know that I am Yahweh,” says the Lord Yahweh, “when I am proven holy in you before their eyes.

KJVAnd I will sanctify^H6942^(H8765) my great^H1419 name^H8034, which was profaned^H2490^(H8794) among the heathen^H1471, which ye have profaned^H2490^(H8765) in the midst^H8432 of them; and the heathen^H1471 shall know^H3045^(H8804) that I am the LORD^H3068, saith^H5002^(H8803) the Lord^H136 GOD^H3069, when I shall be sanctified^H6942^(H8736) in you before their eyes^H5869.

²⁴ “‘“For I will take you from among the nations and gather you out of all the countries, and will bring you into your own land.

KJVFor I will take^H3947^(H8804) you from among^H4480 the heathen^H1471, and gather^H6908^(H8765) you out of all countries^H776, and will bring^H935^(H8689) you into your own land^H127.

²⁵ I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you will be clean. I will cleanse you from all your filthiness and from all your idols.

KJVThen will I sprinkle^H2236^(H8804) clean^H2889 water^H4325 upon you, and ye shall be clean^H2891^(H8804): from all your filthiness^H2932, and from all your idols^H1544, will I cleanse^H2891^(H8762) you.

²⁶ I will also give you a new heart, and I will put a new spirit within you. I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you a heart of flesh.

²⁷ I will put my Spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes. You will keep my ordinances and do them.

KJVAnd I will put^H5414^(H8799) my spirit^H7307 within^H7130 you, and cause^H6213^(H8804) you to walk^H3212^(H8799) in my statutes^H2706, and ye shall keep^H8104^(H8799) my judgments^H4941, and do^H6213^(H8804) them.

²⁸ You will dwell in the land that I gave to your fathers. You will be my people, and I will be your God.

KJVAnd ye shall dwell^H3427^(H8804) in the land^H776 that I gave^H5414^(H8804) to your fathers^H1; and ye shall be my people^H5971, and I will be your God^H430.

²⁹ I will save you from all your uncleanness. I will call for the grain and will multiply it, and lay no famine on you.

KJVI will also save^H3467^(H8689) you from all your uncleannesses^H2932: and I will call^H7121^(H8804) for the corn^H1715, and will increase^H7235^(H8689) it, and lay^H5414^(H8799) no famine^H7458 upon you.

³⁰ I will multiply the fruit of the tree and the increase of the field, that you may receive no more the reproach of famine among the nations.

KJVAnd I will multiply^H7235^(H8689) the fruit^H6529 of the tree^H6086, and the increase^H8570 of the field^H7704, that ye shall receive^H3947^(H8799) no more reproach^H2781 of famine^H7458 among the heathen^H1471.

³¹ “‘“Then you will remember your evil ways, and your deeds that were not good; and you will loathe yourselves in your own sight for your iniquities and for your abominations.

KJVThen shall ye remember^H2142^(H8804) your own evil^H7451 ways^H1870, and your doings^H4611 that were not good^H2896, and shall lothe^H6962^(H8738) yourselves in your own sight^H6440 for your iniquities^H5771 and for your abominations^H8441.

³² I don’t do this for your sake,” says the Lord Yahweh. “Let it be known to you. Be ashamed and confounded for your ways, house of Israel.”

³³ “‘The Lord Yahweh says: “In the day that I cleanse you from all your iniquities, I will cause the cities to be inhabited and the waste places will be built.

KJVThus saith^H559^(H8804) the Lord^H136 GOD^H3069; In the day^H3117 that I shall have cleansed^H2891^(H8763) you from all your iniquities^H5771 I will also cause you to dwell^H3427^(H8689) in the cities^H5892, and the wastes^H2723 shall be builded^H1129^(H8738).

³⁴ The land that was desolate will be tilled instead of being a desolation in the sight of all who passed by.

KJVAnd the desolate^H8074^(H8737) land^H776 shall be tilled^H5647^(H8735), whereas it lay desolate^H8077 in the sight^H5869 of all that passed by^H5674^(H8802).

³⁵ They will say, ‘This land that was desolate has become like the garden of Eden. The waste, desolate, and ruined cities are fortified and inhabited.’

KJVAnd they shall say^H559^(H8804), This^H1977 land^H776 that was desolate^H8074^(H8737) is become like the garden^H1588 of Eden^H5731; and the waste^H2720 and desolate^H8074^(H8737) and ruined^H2040^(H8737) cities^H5892 are become fenced^H1219^(H8803), and are inhabited^H3427^(H8804).

³⁶ Then the nations that are left around you will know that I, Yahweh, have built the ruined places and planted that which was desolate. I, Yahweh, have spoken it, and I will do it.”

³⁷ “‘The Lord Yahweh says: “For this, moreover, I will be inquired of by the house of Israel, to do it for them: I will increase them with men like a flock.

KJVThus saith^H559^(H8804) the Lord^H136 GOD^H3069; I will yet for this be enquired^H1875^(H8735) of by the house^H1004 of Israel^H3478, to do^H6213^(H8800) it for them; I will increase^H7235^(H8686) them with men^H120 like a flock^H6629.

³⁸ As the flock for sacrifice, as the flock of Jerusalem in her appointed feasts, so the waste cities will be filled with flocks of men. Then they will know that I am Yahweh.’”

KJVAs the holy^H6944 flock^H6629, as the flock^H6629 of Jerusalem^H3389 in her solemn feasts^H4150; so shall the waste^H2720 cities^H5892 be filled^H4392 with flocks^H6629 of men^H120: and they shall know^H3045^(H8804) that I am the LORD^H3068.

¹Moreover Yahweh’s word came to me, saying,

² “Son of man, set your face against Mount Seir, and prophesy against it,

KJVSon^H1121 of man^H120, set^H7760^(H8798) thy face^H6440 against mount^H2022 Seir^H8165, and prophesy^H5012^(H8734) against it,

³ and tell it, ‘The Lord Yahweh says: “Behold, I am against you, Mount Seir, and I will stretch out my hand against you. I will make you a desolation and an astonishment.

KJVAnd say^H559^(H8804) unto it, Thus saith^H559^(H8804) the Lord^H136 GOD^H3069; Behold, O mount^H2022 Seir^H8165, I am against thee, and I will stretch out^H5186^(H8804) mine hand^H3027 against thee, and I will make^H5414^(H8804) thee most^H4923 desolate^H8077.

⁴ I will lay your cities waste, and you will be desolate. Then you will know that I am Yahweh.

⁵ “‘“Because you have had a perpetual hostility, and have given over the children of Israel to the power of the sword in the time of their calamity, in the time of the iniquity of the end,

KJVBecause thou hast had a perpetual^H5769 hatred^H342, and hast shed^H5064^(H8686) the blood of the children^H1121 of Israel^H3478 by the force^H3027 of the sword^H2719 in the time^H6256 of their calamity^H343, in the time^H6256 that their iniquity^H5771 had an end^H7093:

⁶ therefore, as I live,” says the Lord Yahweh, “I will prepare you for blood, and blood will pursue you. Since you have not hated blood, therefore blood will pursue you.

⁷ Thus I will make Mount Seir an astonishment and a desolation. I will cut off from it him who passes through and him who returns.

KJVThus will I make^H5414^(H8804) mount^H2022 Seir^H8165 most^H8077 desolate^H8077, and cut off^H3772^(H8689) from it him that passeth out^H5674^(H8802) and him that returneth^H7725^(H8802).

⁸ I will fill its mountains with its slain. The slain with the sword will fall in your hills and in your valleys and in all your watercourses.

KJVAnd I will fill^H4390^(H8765) his mountains^H2022 with his slain^H2491 men: in thy hills^H1389, and in thy valleys^H1516, and in all thy rivers^H650, shall they fall^H5307^(H8799) that are slain^H2491 with the sword^H2719.

⁹ I will make you a perpetual desolation, and your cities will not be inhabited. Then you will know that I am Yahweh.

¹⁰ “‘“Because you have said, ‘These two nations and these two countries will be mine, and we will possess it,’ although Yahweh was there,

KJVBecause thou hast said^H559^(H8800), These two^H8147 nations^H1471 and these two^H8147 countries^H776 shall be mine, and we will possess^H3423^(H8804) it; whereas the LORD^H3068 was there:

¹¹ therefore, as I live,” says the Lord Yahweh, “I will do according to your anger, and according to your envy which you have shown out of your hatred against them; and I will make myself known among them when I judge you.

KJVTherefore, as I live^H2416, saith^H5002^(H8803) the Lord^H136 GOD^H3069, I will even do^H6213^(H8804) according to thine anger^H639, and according to thine envy^H7068 which thou hast used^H6213^(H8804) out of thy hatred^H8135 against them; and I will make myself known^H3045^(H8738) among them, when I have judged^H8199^(H8799) thee.

¹² You will know that I, Yahweh, have heard all your insults which you have spoken against the mountains of Israel, saying, ‘They have been laid desolate. They have been given to us to devour.’

KJVAnd thou shalt know^H3045^(H8804) that I am the LORD^H3068, and that I have heard^H8085^(H8804) all thy blasphemies^H5007 which thou hast spoken^H559^(H8804) against the mountains^H2022 of Israel^H3478, saying^H559^(H8800), They are laid desolate^H8074^(H8804)^(H8675)^H8077, they are given^H5414^(H8738) us to consume^H402.

¹³ You have magnified yourselves against me with your mouth, and have multiplied your words against me. I have heard it.”

KJVThus with your mouth^H6310 ye have boasted^H1431^(H8686) against me, and have multiplied^H6280^(H8689) your words^H1697 against me: I have heard^H8085^(H8804) them.

¹⁴ The Lord Yahweh says: “When the whole earth rejoices, I will make you desolate.

KJVThus saith^H559^(H8804) the Lord^H136 GOD^H3069; When the whole earth^H776 rejoiceth^H8055^(H8800), I will make^H6213^(H8799) thee desolate^H8077.

¹⁵ As you rejoiced over the inheritance of the house of Israel because it was desolate, so I will do to you. You will be desolate, Mount Seir, and all Edom, even all of it. Then they will know that I am Yahweh.’”

KJVAs thou didst rejoice^H8057 at the inheritance^H5159 of the house^H1004 of Israel^H3478, because it was desolate^H8074^(H8804), so will I do^H6213^(H8799) unto thee: thou shalt be desolate^H8077, O mount^H2022 Seir^H8165, and all Idumea^H123, even all of it: and they shall know^H3045^(H8804) that I am the LORD^H3068.
