KJVAnd when kingH4428 AradH6166 the CanaaniteH3669, which dweltH3427(H8802) in the southH5045, heardH8085(H8799) tell that IsraelH3478 cameH935(H8802) by the wayH1870 of the spiesH871; then he foughtH3898(H8735) against IsraelH3478, and tookH7617(H8799) some of them prisonersH7628.
2 Israel vowed a vow to Yahweh, and said, “If you will indeed deliver this people into my hand, then I will utterly destroy their cities.”
KJVAnd IsraelH3478 vowedH5087(H8799) a vowH5088 unto the LORDH3068, and saidH559(H8799), If thou wilt indeedH5414(H8800) deliverH5414(H8799) this peopleH5971 into my handH3027, then I will utterly destroyH2763(H8689) their citiesH5892.

KJVAnd the LORDH3068 hearkenedH8085(H8799) to the voiceH6963 of IsraelH3478, and delivered upH5414(H8799) the CanaanitesH3669; and they utterly destroyedH2763(H8686) them and their citiesH5892: and he calledH7121(H8799) the nameH8034 of the placeH4725 HormahH2767.
4 They traveled from Mount Hor by the way to the Red Sea, to go around the land of Edom. The soul of the people was very discouraged because of the journey.
KJVAnd they journeyedH5265(H8799) from mountH2022 HorH2023 by the wayH1870 of the RedH5488 seaH3220, to compassH5437(H8800) the landH776 of EdomH123: and the soulH5315 of the peopleH5971 was much discouragedH7114(H8799) because of the wayH1870.
5 The people spoke against God and against Moses: “Why have you brought us up out of Egypt to die in the wilderness? For there is no bread, there is no water, and our soul loathes this disgusting food!”
KJVAnd the peopleH5971 spakeH1696(H8762) against GodH430, and against MosesH4872, Wherefore have ye brought us upH5927(H8689) out of EgyptH4714 to dieH4191(H8800) in the wildernessH4057? for there is no breadH3899, neither is there any waterH4325; and our soulH5315 loathethH6973(H8804) this lightH7052 breadH3899.

7 The people came to Moses, and said, “We have sinned, because we have spoken against Yahweh and against you. Pray to Yahweh, that he take away the serpents from us.” Moses prayed for the people.
KJVTherefore the peopleH5971 cameH935(H8799) to MosesH4872, and saidH559(H8799), We have sinnedH2398(H8804), for we have spokenH1696(H8765) against the LORDH3068, and against thee; prayH6419(H8690) unto the LORDH3068, that he take awayH5493(H8686) the serpentsH5175 from us. And MosesH4872 prayedH6419(H8691) for the peopleH5971.
8 Yahweh said to Moses, “Make a venomous snake, and set it on a pole. It shall happen that everyone who is bitten, when he sees it, shall live.”
KJVAnd the LORDH3068 saidH559(H8799) unto MosesH4872, MakeH6213(H8798) thee a fiery serpentH8314, and setH7760(H8798) it upon a poleH5251: and it shall come to pass, that every one that is bittenH5391(H8803), when he lookethH7200(H8804) upon it, shall liveH2425(H8804).
9 Moses made a serpent of bronze, and set it on the pole. If a serpent had bitten any man, when he looked at the serpent of bronze, he lived.
KJVAnd MosesH4872 madeH6213(H8799) a serpentH5175 of brassH5178, and putH7760(H8799) it upon a poleH5251, and it came to pass, that if a serpentH5175 had bittenH5391(H8804) any manH376, when he beheldH5027(H8689) the serpentH5175 of brassH5178, he livedH2425(H8804).
10 The children of Israel traveled, and encamped in Oboth.
KJVAnd the childrenH1121 of IsraelH3478 set forwardH5265(H8799), and pitchedH2583(H8799) in ObothH88.
11 They traveled from Oboth, and encamped at Iyeabarim, in the wilderness which is before Moab, toward the sunrise.
KJVAnd they journeyedH5265(H8799) from ObothH88, and pitchedH2583(H8799) at IjeabarimH5863, in the wildernessH4057 which is beforeH6440 MoabH4124, toward the sunrisingH4217H8121.
12 From there they traveled, and encamped in the valley of Zered.
KJVFrom thence they removedH5265(H8804), and pitchedH2583(H8799) in the valleyH5158 of ZaredH2218.
13 From there they traveled, and encamped on the other side of the Arnon, which is in the wilderness that comes out of the border of the Amorites; for the Arnon is the border of Moab, between Moab and the Amorites.
KJVFrom thence they removedH5265(H8804), and pitchedH2583(H8799) on the other sideH5676 of ArnonH769, which is in the wildernessH4057 that cometh outH3318(H8802) of the coastsH1366 of the AmoritesH567: for ArnonH769 is the borderH1366 of MoabH4124, between MoabH4124 and the AmoritesH567.
14 Therefore it is said in The Book of the Wars of Yahweh, “Vaheb in Suphah, the valleys of the Arnon,
KJVWherefore it is saidH559(H8735) in the bookH5612 of the warsH4421 of the LORDH3068, What he didH2052 in the Red seaH5492, and in the brooksH5158 of ArnonH769,
15 the slope of the valleys that incline toward the dwelling of Ar, leans on the border of Moab.”
KJVAnd at the streamH793 of the brooksH5158 that goeth downH5186(H8804) to the dwellingH3427(H8800) of ArH6144, and liethH8172(H8738) upon the borderH1366 of MoabH4124.
16 From there they traveled to Beer; that is the well of which Yahweh said to Moses, “Gather the people together, and I will give them water.”
KJVAnd from thence they went to BeerH876: that is the wellH875 whereof the LORDH3068 spakeH559(H8804) unto MosesH4872, GatherH622 the peopleH5971 togetherH622(H8798), and I will giveH5414(H8799) them waterH4325.
17 Then Israel sang this song: “Spring up, well! Sing to it,
KJVThen IsraelH3478 sangH7891(H8799) this songH7892, Spring upH5927(H8798), O wellH875; singH6030(H8798) ye unto it:
18 the well, which the princes dug, which the nobles of the people dug, with the scepter, and with their poles.” From the wilderness they traveled to Mattanah;
KJVThe princesH8269 diggedH2658(H8804) the wellH875, the noblesH5081 of the peopleH5971 diggedH3738(H8804) it, by the direction of the lawgiverH2710(H8781), with their stavesH4938. And from the wildernessH4057 they went to MattanahH4980:
19 and from Mattanah to Nahaliel; and from Nahaliel to Bamoth;
KJVAnd from MattanahH4980 to NahalielH5160: and from NahalielH5160 to BamothH1120:
20 and from Bamoth to the valley that is in the field of Moab, to the top of Pisgah, which looks down on the desert.
KJVAnd from BamothH1120 in the valleyH1516, that is in the countryH7704 of MoabH4124, to the topH7218 of PisgahH6449, which lookethH8259(H8738) towardH6440 JeshimonH3452.
21 Israel sent messengers to Sihon king of the Amorites, saying,
KJVAnd IsraelH3478 sentH7971(H8799) messengersH4397 unto SihonH5511 kingH4428 of the AmoritesH567, sayingH559(H8800),
22 “Let me pass through your land. We will not turn away into field or vineyard. We will not drink of the water of the wells. We will go by the king’s highway, until we have passed your border.”
KJVLet me passH5674(H8799) through thy landH776: we will not turnH5186(H8799) into the fieldsH7704, or into the vineyardsH3754; we will not drinkH8354(H8799) of the watersH4325 of the wellH875: but we will go alongH3212(H8799) by the king'sH4428 high wayH1870, until we be pastH5674(H8799) thy bordersH1366.
23 Sihon would not allow Israel to pass through his border, but Sihon gathered all his people together, and went out against Israel into the wilderness, and came to Jahaz. He fought against Israel.
KJVAnd SihonH5511 would not sufferH5414(H8804) IsraelH3478 to passH5674(H8800) through his borderH1366: but SihonH5511 gatheredH622 all his peopleH5971 togetherH622(H8799), and went outH3318(H8799) againstH7125(H8800) IsraelH3478 into the wildernessH4057: and he cameH935(H8799) to JahazH3096, and foughtH3898(H8735) against IsraelH3478.
24 Israel struck him with the edge of the sword, and possessed his land from the Arnon to the Jabbok, even to the children of Ammon; for the border of the children of Ammon was fortified.
KJVAnd IsraelH3478 smoteH5221(H8686) him with the edgeH6310 of the swordH2719, and possessedH3423(H8799) his landH776 from ArnonH769 unto JabbokH2999, even unto the childrenH1121 of AmmonH5983: for the borderH1366 of the childrenH1121 of AmmonH5983 was strongH5794.
25 Israel took all these cities. Israel lived in all the cities of the Amorites, in Heshbon, and in all its villages.
KJVAnd IsraelH3478 tookH3947(H8799) all these citiesH5892: and IsraelH3478 dweltH3427(H8799) in all the citiesH5892 of the AmoritesH567, in HeshbonH2809, and in all the villagesH1323 thereof.
26 For Heshbon was the city of Sihon the king of the Amorites, who had fought against the former king of Moab, and taken all his land out of his hand, even to the Arnon.
KJVFor HeshbonH2809 was the cityH5892 of SihonH5511 the kingH4428 of the AmoritesH567, who had foughtH3898(H8738) against the formerH7223 kingH4428 of MoabH4124, and takenH3947(H8799) all his landH776 out of his handH3027, even unto ArnonH769.
27 Therefore those who speak in proverbs say, “Come to Heshbon. Let the city of Sihon be built and established;
KJVWherefore they that speak in proverbsH4911(H8802) sayH559(H8799), ComeH935(H8798) into HeshbonH2809, let the cityH5892 of SihonH5511 be builtH1129(H8735) and preparedH3559(H8709):
28 for a fire has gone out of Heshbon, a flame from the city of Sihon. It has devoured Ar of Moab, The lords of the high places of the Arnon.
KJVFor there is a fireH784 gone outH3318(H8804) of HeshbonH2809, a flameH3852 from the cityH7151 of SihonH5511: it hath consumedH398(H8804) ArH6144 of MoabH4124, and the lords of the high placesH1181 of ArnonH769.
29 Woe to you, Moab! You are undone, people of Chemosh! He has given his sons as fugitives, and his daughters into captivity, to Sihon king of the Amorites.
KJVWoeH188 to thee, MoabH4124! thou art undoneH6(H8804), O peopleH5971 of ChemoshH3645: he hath givenH5414(H8804) his sonsH1121 that escapedH6412, and his daughtersH1323, into captivityH7622 unto SihonH5511 kingH4428 of the AmoritesH567.
30 We have shot at them. Heshbon has perished even to Dibon. We have laid waste even to Nophah, Which reaches to Medeba.”
KJVWe have shotH3384(H8799) at them; HeshbonH2809 is perishedH6(H8804) even unto DibonH1769, and we have laid them wasteH8074(H8686) even unto NophahH5302, which reacheth unto MedebaH4311.
31 Thus Israel lived in the land of the Amorites.
KJVThus IsraelH3478 dweltH3427(H8799) in the landH776 of the AmoritesH567.
32 Moses sent to spy out Jazer. They took its villages, and drove out the Amorites who were there.
KJVAnd MosesH4872 sentH7971(H8799) to spy outH7270(H8763) JaazerH3270, and they tookH3920(H8799) the villagesH1323 thereof, and drove outH3423(H8686)(H8675)H3423(H8799) the AmoritesH567 that were there.
33 They turned and went up by the way of Bashan. Og the king of Bashan went out against them, he and all his people, to battle at Edrei.
KJVAnd they turnedH6437(H8799) and went upH5927(H8799) by the wayH1870 of BashanH1316: and OgH5747 the kingH4428 of BashanH1316 went outH3318(H8799) againstH7125(H8800) them, he, and all his peopleH5971, to the battleH4421 at EdreiH154.
34 Yahweh said to Moses, “Don’t fear him, for I have delivered him into your hand, with all his people, and his land. You shall do to him as you did to Sihon king of the Amorites, who lived at Heshbon.”
KJVAnd the LORDH3068 saidH559(H8799) unto MosesH4872, FearH3372(H8799) him not: for I have deliveredH5414(H8804) him into thy handH3027, and all his peopleH5971, and his landH776; and thou shalt doH6213(H8804) to him as thou didstH6213(H8804) unto SihonH5511 kingH4428 of the AmoritesH567, which dweltH3427(H8802) at HeshbonH2809.
35 So they struck him, with his sons and all his people, until there were no survivors; and they possessed his land.
KJVSo they smoteH5221(H8686) him, and his sonsH1121, and all his peopleH5971, until there was noneH1115 leftH7604(H8689) him aliveH8300: and they possessedH3423(H8799) his landH776.
