from ἐπί and φαίνω; to shine upon, i.e. become (literally) visible or (figuratively) known:--appear, give light.

ἐπι-φαίνω [in LXX for אוּר hi., etc. ;]

1. to show forth.

2. (= pass. in cl.) to appear: Ac 27:20; c. dat. pers., Lk 1:79; metaph., Tit 3:4; c. dat., ib. 2:11 (Cremer, 567).†
