¹These are the statutes and the ordinances which you shall observe to do in the land which Yahweh, the God of your fathers, has given you to possess all the days that you live on the earth.

KJVThese are the statutes^H2706 and judgments^H4941, which ye shall observe^H8104^(H8799) to do^H6213^(H8800) in the land^H776, which the LORD^H3068 God^H430 of thy fathers^H1 giveth^H5414^(H8804) thee to possess^H3423^(H8800) it, all the days^H3117 that ye live^H2416 upon the earth^H127.

² You shall surely destroy all the places in which the nations that you shall dispossess served their gods: on the high mountains, and on the hills, and under every green tree.

KJVYe shall utterly^H6^(H8763) destroy^H6^(H8762) all the places^H4725, wherein the nations^H1471 which^H834 ye shall possess^H3423^(H8802) served^H5647^(H8804) their gods^H430, upon the high^H7311^(H8802) mountains^H2022, and upon the hills^H1389, and under every green^H7488 tree^H6086:

³ You shall break down their altars, dash their pillars in pieces, and burn their Asherah poles with fire. You shall cut down the engraved images of their gods. You shall destroy their name out of that place.

KJVAnd ye shall overthrow^H5422^(H8765) their altars^H4196, and break^H7665^(H8765) their pillars^H4676, and burn^H8313^(H8799) their groves^H842 with fire^H784; and ye shall hew down^H1438^(H8762) the graven images^H6456 of their gods^H430, and destroy^H6^(H8765) the names^H8034 of them out of that place^H4725.

⁴ You shall not do so to Yahweh your God.

⁵ But to the place which Yahweh your God shall choose out of all your tribes, to put his name there, you shall seek his habitation, and you shall come there.

⁶ You shall bring your burnt offerings, your sacrifices, your tithes, the wave offering of your hand, your vows, your free will offerings, and the firstborn of your herd and of your flock there.

⁷ There you shall eat before Yahweh your God, and you shall rejoice in all that you put your hand to, you and your households, in which Yahweh your God has blessed you.

⁸ You shall not do all the things that we do here today, every man whatever is right in his own eyes;

⁹ for you haven’t yet come to the rest and to the inheritance which Yahweh your God gives you.

KJVFor ye are not as yet come^H935^(H8804) to the rest^H4496 and to the inheritance^H5159, which the LORD^H3068 your God^H430 giveth^H5414^(H8802) you.

¹⁰ But when you go over the Jordan and dwell in the land which Yahweh your God causes you to inherit, and he gives you rest from all your enemies around you, so that you dwell in safety,

KJVBut when ye go over^H5674^(H8804) Jordan^H3383, and dwell^H3427^(H8804) in the land^H776 which the LORD^H3068 your God^H430 giveth you to inherit^H5157^(H8688), and when he giveth you rest^H5117^(H8689) from all your enemies^H341^(H8802) round about^H5439, so that ye dwell^H3427^(H8804) in safety^H983;

¹¹ then it shall happen that to the place which Yahweh your God shall choose, to cause his name to dwell there, there you shall bring all that I command you: your burnt offerings, your sacrifices, your tithes, the wave offering of your hand, and all your choice vows which you vow to Yahweh.

¹² You shall rejoice before Yahweh your God—you, and your sons, your daughters, your male servants, your female servants, and the Levite who is within your gates, because he has no portion nor inheritance with you.

¹³ Be careful that you don’t offer your burnt offerings in every place that you see;

¹⁴ but in the place which Yahweh chooses in one of your tribes, there you shall offer your burnt offerings, and there you shall do all that I command you.

¹⁵ Yet you may kill and eat meat within all your gates, after all the desire of your soul, according to Yahweh your God’s blessing which he has given you. The unclean and the clean may eat of it, as of the gazelle and the deer.

¹⁶ Only you shall not eat the blood. You shall pour it out on the earth like water.

¹⁷ You may not eat within your gates the tithe of your grain, or of your new wine, or of your oil, or the firstborn of your herd or of your flock, nor any of your vows which you vow, nor your free will offerings, nor the wave offering of your hand;

¹⁹ Be careful that you don’t forsake the Levite as long as you live in your land.

KJVTake heed^H8104^(H8734) to thyself that thou forsake^H5800^(H8799) not the Levite^H3881 as long as thou livest^H3117 upon the earth^H127.

²⁰ When Yahweh your God enlarges your border, as he has promised you, and you say, “I want to eat meat,” because your soul desires to eat meat, you may eat meat, after all the desire of your soul.

KJVWhen the LORD^H3068 thy God^H430 shall enlarge^H7337^(H8686) thy border^H1366, as he hath promised^H1696^(H8765) thee, and thou shalt say^H559^(H8804), I will eat^H398^(H8799) flesh^H1320, because thy soul^H5315 longeth^H183^(H8762) to eat^H398^(H8800) flesh^H1320; thou mayest eat^H398^(H8799) flesh^H1320, whatsoever thy soul^H5315 lusteth after^H185.

²¹ If the place which Yahweh your God shall choose to put his name is too far from you, then you shall kill of your herd and of your flock, which Yahweh has given you, as I have commanded you; and you may eat within your gates, after all the desire of your soul.

²² Even as the gazelle and as the deer is eaten, so you shall eat of it. The unclean and the clean may eat of it alike.

²³ Only be sure that you don’t eat the blood; for the blood is the life. You shall not eat the life with the meat.

²⁴ You shall not eat it. You shall pour it out on the earth like water.

²⁵ You shall not eat it, that it may go well with you and with your children after you, when you do that which is right in Yahweh’s eyes.

²⁶ Only your holy things which you have, and your vows, you shall take and go to the place which Yahweh shall choose.

KJVOnly thy holy things^H6944 which thou hast, and thy vows^H5088, thou shalt take^H5375^(H8799), and go^H935^(H8804) unto the place^H4725 which the LORD^H3068 shall choose^H977^(H8799):

²⁷ You shall offer your burnt offerings, the meat and the blood, on Yahweh your God’s altar. The blood of your sacrifices shall be poured out on Yahweh your God’s altar, and you shall eat the meat.

KJVAnd thou shalt offer^H6213^(H8804) thy burnt offerings^H5930, the flesh^H1320 and the blood^H1818, upon the altar^H4196 of the LORD^H3068 thy God^H430: and the blood^H1818 of thy sacrifices^H2077 shall be poured out^H8210^(H8735) upon the altar^H4196 of the LORD^H3068 thy God^H430, and thou shalt eat^H398^(H8799) the flesh^H1320.

²⁸ Observe and hear all these words which I command you, that it may go well with you and with your children after you forever, when you do that which is good and right in Yahweh your God’s eyes.

²⁹ When Yahweh your God cuts off the nations from before you where you go in to dispossess them, and you dispossess them and dwell in their land,

KJVWhen the LORD^H3068 thy God^H430 shall cut off^H3772^(H8686) the nations^H1471 from before^H6440 thee, whither thou goest^H935^(H8802) to possess^H3423^(H8800) them, and thou succeedest^H3423^(H8804) them, and dwellest^H3427^(H8804) in their land^H776;

³⁰ be careful that you are not ensnared to follow them after they are destroyed from before you, and that you not inquire after their gods, saying, “How do these nations serve their gods? I will do likewise.”

³¹ You shall not do so to Yahweh your God; for every abomination to Yahweh, which he hates, they have done to their gods; for they even burn their sons and their daughters in the fire to their gods.

KJVThou shalt not do^H6213^(H8799) so unto the LORD^H3068 thy God^H430: for every abomination^H8441 to the LORD^H3068, which he hateth^H8130^(H8804), have they done^H6213^(H8804) unto their gods^H430; for even their sons^H1121 and their daughters^H1323 they have burnt^H8313^(H8799) in the fire^H784 to their gods^H430.

³² Whatever thing I command you, that you shall observe to do. You shall not add to it, nor take away from it.

¹Therefore you shall love Yahweh your God, and keep his instructions, his statutes, his ordinances, and his commandments, always.

² Know this day—for I don’t speak with your children who have not known, and who have not seen the chastisement of Yahweh your God, his greatness, his mighty hand, his outstretched arm,

³ his signs, and his works, which he did in the middle of Egypt to Pharaoh the king of Egypt, and to all his land;

⁴ and what he did to the army of Egypt, to their horses, and to their chariots; how he made the water of the Red Sea to overflow them as they pursued you, and how Yahweh has destroyed them to this day;

⁵ and what he did to you in the wilderness until you came to this place;

⁶ and what he did to Dathan and Abiram, the sons of Eliab, the son of Reuben—how the earth opened its mouth and swallowed them up, with their households, their tents, and every living thing that followed them, in the middle of all Israel;

⁷ but your eyes have seen all of Yahweh’s great work which he did.

⁸ Therefore you shall keep the entire commandment which I command you today, that you may be strong, and go in and possess the land that you go over to possess;

⁹ and that you may prolong your days in the land which Yahweh swore to your fathers to give to them and to their offspring, a land flowing with milk and honey.

¹⁰ For the land, where you go in to possess isn’t like the land of Egypt that you came out of, where you sowed your seed and watered it with your foot, as a garden of herbs;

¹¹ but the land that you go over to possess is a land of hills and valleys which drinks water from the rain of the sky,

¹² a land which Yahweh your God cares for. Yahweh your God’s eyes are always on it, from the beginning of the year even to the end of the year.

KJVA land^H776 which the LORD^H3068 thy God^H430 careth for^H1875^(H8802): the eyes^H5869 of the LORD^H3068 thy God^H430 are always^H8548 upon it, from the beginning^H7225 of the year^H8141 even unto the end^H319 of the year^H8141.

¹³ It shall happen, if you shall listen diligently to my commandments which I command you today, to love Yahweh your God, and to serve him with all your heart and with all your soul,

KJVAnd it shall come to pass, if ye shall hearken^H8085^(H8799) diligently^H8085^(H8800) unto my commandments^H4687 which I command^H6680^(H8764) you this day^H3117, to love^H157^(H8800) the LORD^H3068 your God^H430, and to serve^H5647^(H8800) him with all your heart^H3824 and with all your soul^H5315,

¹⁴ that I will give the rain for your land in its season, the early rain and the latter rain, that you may gather in your grain, your new wine, and your oil.

KJVThat I will give^H5414^(H8804) you the rain^H4306 of your land^H776 in his due season^H6256, the first rain^H3138 and the latter rain^H4456, that thou mayest gather^H622^(H8804) in thy corn^H1715, and thy wine^H8492, and thine oil^H3323.

¹⁵ I will give grass in your fields for your livestock, and you shall eat and be full.

KJVAnd I will send^H5414^(H8804) grass^H6212 in thy fields^H7704 for thy cattle^H929, that thou mayest eat^H398^(H8804) and be full^H7646^(H8804).

¹⁶ Be careful, lest your heart be deceived, and you turn away to serve other gods and worship them;

KJVTake heed^H8104^(H8734) to yourselves, that your heart^H3824 be not deceived^H6601^(H8799), and ye turn aside^H5493^(H8804), and serve^H5647^(H8804) other^H312 gods^H430, and worship^H7812^(H8694) them;

¹⁷ and Yahweh’s anger be kindled against you, and he shut up the sky so that there is no rain, and the land doesn’t yield its fruit; and you perish quickly from off the good land which Yahweh gives you.

KJVAnd then the LORD'S^H3068 wrath^H639 be kindled^H2734^(H8804) against you, and he shut up^H6113^(H8804) the heaven^H8064, that there be no rain^H4306, and that the land^H127 yield^H5414^(H8799) not her fruit^H2981; and lest ye perish^H6^(H8804) quickly^H4120 from off the good^H2896 land^H776 which the LORD^H3068 giveth^H5414^(H8802) you.

¹⁸ Therefore you shall lay up these words of mine in your heart and in your soul. You shall bind them for a sign on your hand, and they shall be for frontlets between your eyes.

KJVTherefore shall ye lay up^H7760^(H8804) these my words^H1697 in your heart^H3824 and in your soul^H5315, and bind^H7194^(H8804) them for a sign^H226 upon your hand^H3027, that they may be as frontlets^H2903 between your eyes^H5869.

¹⁹ You shall teach them to your children, talking of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up.

²⁰ You shall write them on the door posts of your house and on your gates;

²¹ that your days and your children’s days may be multiplied in the land which Yahweh swore to your fathers to give them, as the days of the heavens above the earth.

²² For if you shall diligently keep all these commandments which I command you—to do them, to love Yahweh your God, to walk in all his ways, and to cling to him—

²³ then Yahweh will drive out all these nations from before you, and you shall dispossess nations greater and mightier than yourselves.

KJVThen will the LORD^H3068 drive out^H3423^(H8689) all these nations^H1471 from before^H6440 you, and ye shall possess^H3423^(H8804) greater^H1419 nations^H1471 and mightier^H6099 than yourselves.

²⁴ Every place on which the sole of your foot treads shall be yours: from the wilderness and Lebanon, from the river, the river Euphrates, even to the western sea shall be your border.

²⁵ No man will be able to stand before you. Yahweh your God will lay the fear of you and the dread of you on all the land that you tread on, as he has spoken to you.

²⁶ Behold, I set before you today a blessing and a curse:

²⁷ the blessing, if you listen to the commandments of Yahweh your God, which I command you today;

KJVA blessing^H1293, if ye obey^H8085^(H8799) the commandments^H4687 of the LORD^H3068 your God^H430, which I command^H6680^(H8764) you this day^H3117:

²⁸ and the curse, if you do not listen to the commandments of Yahweh your God, but turn away out of the way which I command you today, to go after other gods which you have not known.

KJVAnd a curse^H7045, if ye will not obey^H8085^(H8799) the commandments^H4687 of the LORD^H3068 your God^H430, but turn aside^H5493^(H8804) out of the way^H1870 which I command^H6680^(H8764) you this day^H3117, to go^H3212^(H8800) after^H310 other^H312 gods^H430, which ye have not known^H3045^(H8804).

²⁹ It shall happen, when Yahweh your God brings you into the land that you go to possess, that you shall set the blessing on Mount Gerizim, and the curse on Mount Ebal.

KJVAnd it shall come to pass, when the LORD^H3068 thy God^H430 hath brought thee in^H935^(H8686) unto the land^H776 whither thou goest^H935^(H8802) to possess^H3423^(H8800) it, that thou shalt put^H5414^(H8804) the blessing^H1293 upon mount^H2022 Gerizim^H1630, and the curse^H7045 upon mount^H2022 Ebal^H5858.

³⁰ Aren’t they beyond the Jordan, behind the way of the going down of the sun, in the land of the Canaanites who dwell in the Arabah near Gilgal, beside the oaks of Moreh?

KJVAre they not on the other side^H5676 Jordan^H3383, by^H310 the way^H1870 where the sun^H8121 goeth down^H3996, in the land^H776 of the Canaanites^H3669, which dwell^H3427^(H8802) in the champaign^H6160 over against^H4136 Gilgal^H1537, beside^H681 the plains^H436 of Moreh^H4176?

³¹ For you are to pass over the Jordan to go in to possess the land which Yahweh your God gives you, and you shall possess it and dwell in it.

KJVFor ye shall pass over^H5674^(H8802) Jordan^H3383 to go in^H935^(H8800) to possess^H3423^(H8800) the land^H776 which the LORD^H3068 your God^H430 giveth^H5414^(H8802) you, and ye shall possess^H3423^(H8804) it, and dwell^H3427^(H8804) therein.

³² You shall observe to do all the statutes and the ordinances which I set before you today.

KJVAnd ye shall observe^H8104^(H8804) to do^H6213^(H8800) all the statutes^H2706 and judgments^H4941 which I set^H5414^(H8802) before^H6440 you this day^H3117.
